Screaming Coasters
Strata Poster
Dunno if this has been posted here, but it looks pretty boring to me.

Joey said:It seems like plenty of costal coasters do have trouble anyway, it's just usually with wind... not problems caused by salt water. But how would we know of such issues anyway? Is salt water known to damage other structures on the coast?
UC said:Seriously, haven't you learned anything?
UC said:jokerman said:We havn't had a launched ride built next to the sea like this before though, have we, so how do you know Xpress' claims will be completely false.
Oh really? Are you sure you want to make that claim without looking in to it?
I know because I do research before blindly posting. Which is what I asked Xpress to do, and it's also what you should be doing. The way in which people talk about things they don't understand, or even attempt to understand, truly baffles me. However, in the interest of settling this issue quickly, I'll do all the research for you.
Ever heard of Japan? It's an island nation pretty much surrounded by salt water. Guess what? They have a little ride called Zaturn.

Would you like to know how far Zaturn is from the coast?

Not enough? Perhaps you've heard of a little ride called SkyCar?

It's pretty much right on it.
Both rides are the same type as Formula Rossa, and both rides have been operating just fine since they were built.
Furthermore, to think that a company such as Intamin would forget to take in to account air quality when constructing a roller coaster is absolutely ludicrous. We don't live in the 1800's, and you guys all act like engineers have no idea what they're doing. Start researching before commenting on things you don't know about.

For the record, they don't re-track PMBO every year... geez, you can forget fountains and kiddies parks if you think they need to shell out for that! They do occasionally re-track sections, but this is usually to sort out damage from the p*ss poor Arrow geometry.
