First Time At Europa - April 2016

ATTACKHAMMER

Strata Poster
Last week I visited Europa Park, with my good friend Ami. We set off at stupid O'clock and headed to Stanstead airport. After a decent weatherpoons breakfast, we arrived in Basel, Switzerland! From Basel we took a bus, then a tram, then a train and then another train to reach this bus:

All aboard the cred bus!

We checked into our hotel and took a walk around the local town:

We then obtained a rather tasty kebab:

Ami and I then decided it was time for a drink, so we headed to the Hotel Colosseo. It didn't open until 20:00, fear not another bar was available!

We shoved large amounts of German beer and cocktails into our faces:

The Hotel Colosseo bar was fab! We were drinking in a torture chamber!

After a fairly early wake up call, it was time for the park!

Europa Park Day 1

We started on:
12983864_10204527361422782_8658683570094218409_o.jpg

A decent ride, some good forces. Europa seems to love a spiral lift hill!

We then rode the Bobsled:

13055261_10204527362702814_1068773780704032414_o.jpg

This was the second Bobsled coaster, I have ridden. I didn't feel it was as good as Avalanche at Blackpool, but still a decent ride.

It was then time for Matterhorn Blizt, and its strange queue line.
A dancing toe:

13063381_10204527364702864_6634113442274295586_o.jpg

The lift for this ride was a surprise! I thought it was a great effect! Other than that it was a pretty standard Wild Mouse.

We rode back row, then front row! Silver Star is fantastic! It felt more forceful than Shambhala and Hollywood Dream, over the drops.
There was some great airtime!
Overall Silver Star is a fantastic ride.

We then moved onto the bizarre Euro Mir!
13047668_10204527366182901_6894289477000079102_o.jpg

Another spiral lift hill! The first half of the ride was underwhelming but the second half is where the show really begins! Overall a decent ride!

Next was the ride I was most looking forward to!

At this point the weather was taking a turn for the worst.

That didn't stop me from loving Blue Fire! The launch was powerful and retained the power! The layout was fantastic, the inversions were great and the ride didn't lose any pace.

Wodan, was next! Woman turned out be my 300th cred. I mistakenly left it off my count and therefore assumed Atlantica was my 300th!
13041360_10204527367862943_237987461778293446_o.jpg

I loved the entrance to the area:

13063217_10204527369142975_6354162204255431676_o.jpg

The queue line is rather fab!
13002335_10204527369222977_4415936624984385753_o.jpg

I really enjoyed Wodan, and had many re-rides on day 2!
Wodan is well paced and has some good airtime!

Next up was:
13063155_10204527369662988_2958477377325006227_o.jpg

The turntable element was very strange! The drop was pretty good!

Then Ami and I rode the VR mine train:
The VR was so much better than Galactica! The headsets were very comfortable and I could wear my glasses! The story was very strange but overall it was a fun experience.

We then headed over to Arthur. I didn't really know what to expect. Despite not understanding the references, Arthur was a good ride!

13048179_10204527371703039_9056193637333416199_o.jpg

It was then time for food, so we headed to Food Loop! I was all of the excited!
13048193_10204527372703064_2511054076041234020_o.jpg

So excited in fact, I managed to toss my coke lid into my chips!
13055638_10204527372823067_361592635699039424_o.jpg

I was so disappointed by the food at Food Loop. The orange stuff was rank!
13071829_10204527373183076_2681790228634186736_o.jpg

After food it was time for Poseidon. En route we stopped to watch a juggling show, with people on segways!
Poseidon was a very enjoyable ride! The sun was also out, which was a bonus!

The final cred to ride was Pegasus. What a poor ride, even for a family coaster. The least said the better.
Then we got talking to someone, who was a German goon and Europa fan boy. We rode the last two rides of the day with him.

Ami and I still had bad hangovers, so didn't enjoy the Pirate ship very much.

We finished by riding the Rapids twice. They were decent rapids!

That evening we had pork steak and more beer:

Thanks for reading part 1! Part two will be more detailed and with more photos (Maybe).

Out of interest, what didn't you like about Pegasus? I thought it was quite good last time I went

:)

I thought it felt very trimmed, especially on the first drop. Certainly one of the worst family coasters I have ever ridden.

Seems like you had a great time - you clearly forgot the ride that you had back at the hotel, but that's fine ;)

I absolutely loved Europa Park when I went... but that was 10 yrs ago now. High time I went again methinks - Arthur, Wodan and Blue Fire will all be new to me.

Pegasus was brand new at the time and I actually thought it was pretty decent. Does it still have the little clip-clop sound effects and the whinny as the 'horse' leaves the station?

Atlantica Supersplash was the dud ride for me. Just didn't get the backwards bit, and all that turning on the spot. WTF? Come to think of it, the splash isn't exactly super either. Didn't even get wet :-(

Nice report by the way. Straight to the point, no unnecessary waffle, great pics. Good job! It's actually got me quite juiced for going again. :)

The ride in question did not make the cut for this report!

I did not notice any station noise.

Fair. I assumed it would be a very wet ride, but you're correct that it is rather dry.

Thank you! There is more to come!

Whaaaat, Pegasus is amazing!! 5th best coaster in the park behind the big 3 and Eurosat, and one of the best mid-sized family coasters I've ridden. Nice report nonetheless!

Nice read with some good pictures :) It seems you had a really good couple of days here. Surprising that you find Silver Star more intense than Shambhala, I thought it was quite the opposite

Also congratulations for your 300th coaster!

Yeah.. I did a bit of a 'whaaaat?' in my head when I read that! Don't get me wrong, I love Silver Star, but it's got nowt on Shambhala!
