Former Paramount Parks get Planet Snoopy

Bye bye Nickelodeon themed kid zones, and goodbye Hannah Barbera land.. The five former Paramount parks will all be investing in Planet Snoopy for the 2010 season.

I dunno how I feel about this.. I quite liked the Nickelodeon theme at Kings Island and Wonderland, and the Hannah Barbera landwas where I use to chill as a kid! But either way it's not like I spend a huge amount of time in kiddieland regardless, and I do love Snoopy, so I expect it will be a change for the better. However, I AM wondering if for example, the shooter rides themed to Scooby will be rethemed, and will things such as Ghoster Coaster and Fairly Odd Coaster be renamed?

Of course they will be renamed.. they can't just take the names of licensed characters.

I guess we will see how this pans out.. I was hoping they would keep it.. but..

but Nickelodeon wants a bit more money than Cedar Fair is willing to give with a contract renewal.

I was hoping Nickelodeon would stay too, and even be spread to the rest of the Cedar Fair parks. Nick is way more compatible to kids today than the Peanuts and Snoopy are.

Although I used to watch Nickelodeon a lot, I think Peanuts is a much better kids theme. There's just so much tradition behind it, and they go way back to my parents' generation. Even at 16, I still find myself watching the Peanuts Halloween special and A Charlie Brown's Christmas.

Planet Snoopy worked nicely at CP, and I hope it does the same with these parks.

The Scooby dark shooters need an overhaul, so I guess this could be a good thing. I don't know how they'll theme them around the Peanuts gang, but a Snoopy dogfight with the Red Baron could be pretty cool.

I totally agree. The Hannah Barbera land was really cool, but I think most of the Nick theme was kind of'90's you know? Like Rugrats, Spongebob, FOP wasn't that far off. Still it's gonna suck to see them go. I knew this was gonna happen.

Aww me too! "I got a rock".

Yeah that would be pretty sweet! I'm gonna be sad when they change the name of Scooby's Ghoster Coaster though, because it was one of my first coasters and aww, memories :p .

But I do agree that Nickelodeon was a lot more of a 90's thing, whereas Snoopy is a classic and is an ongoing thing. Like, I use to watch Rugrats back ever ago (I was actually like, obsessed with it), but it's never on any channel here anymore.

Planet Snoopy is not my favourite theme, I actually prefered Camp Snoopy, but either way, Snoopy is a peach so I hardly care.

^ They show Rugrats here at like, 5 in the morning. I am starting think that Nickelodeon is losing some of it's sparkle. All the good shows are gone and new gay ones are starting up. I understand the transition. Peanuts is classic.

^ I agree. Nickelodeon now is just... crap. Whereas I will always enjoy Peanuts. How poor Charlie Brown always got rocks...

Snoopy and friends have no dynamics though.. they never had the ability to market outside those main characters.

Meanwhile, Nick is more updated and is always coming out with new shows.. although I do agree.. from when I was a kid to now is a complete 180. They need to go back to when they were the best network on TV.

I've said this on tons of sites, but not CF yet so I'll say my opinion again. Not many kids really like Snoopy and the Peanuts like they like Nickelodeon. You barely ever see a kid at the store asking if they can buy the new Snoopy DVD, or if they can stay up later to watch Peanuts (Do they even make new episodes?) Almost every kid knows who Spongebob, Dora Explorer, Cosmo, and Wanda are, and most kids love those characters. So when they come to a Cedar Fair park and they are greeted by Spongebob and Cosmo, than they are already having one of they're best days ever. I just don't think kids are going to be super excited to see Snoopy and Charlie Brown waving at them when they enter a park. I personally think this was a bad move for Cedar Fair, but atleast it isn't a generic theme like Valley Fair and World's of Fun...
