That cable car ride is epic. It goes on for ages and is over the top of a rainforest with monkeys and **** jumping around.

The old park was s**te though.

How so, out of interest? The ride selection didn't exactly look the best at Genting Theme Park, but I would be interested to know how else it is bad.

Exactly that: crappy ride selection. The cable car ride to get there was by far the best thing about the place.

Totally didn't realize that this is what Genting Highlands used to be. I remember watching a Travel Channel special on the resort and since then I thought it was a pretty neat looking place to visit despite the lackluster creds. Seems like the cred selection is getting majorly upgraded!

In a weird bit of news. This is the layout for the Ice Age ride at this park.
The odd thing is this layout was found on the Beijing Shibaolai Amusement Equipment site here under the headline "Malaysia Genting Project abroad"
If it really is an Beijing Shibaola ride they seem to have stepped up their game somewhat.

Personally i find it hard to believe. But i guess its possible.
My bet is that its designed by another firm (I've had CAVU mentioned to me) and BSA have done the steel manafacturing but im just speculating there.

Sorry for double post but this seems appropriate considering the news.

I did wonder now Fox is owned by Disney what would happen here and it seems Disney very much don't want this park to happen.

Thanks for the update,

That's strange. If Disney acquires Fox they will profit from Genting group licensing their property... unless Disney is planning a theme park in Malaysia? I'm not very familiar with this project. I was hoping it would be open by May next year (when I leave Asia) but that doesn't look likely

Check the article. Disney doesn't want want to license a theme park that's a part of the same resort that also has a casino...

Thanks for pointing that out, was on my phone at the time so dodn't read it through :)

This seems very petty of Disney, but to be expected I guess. Universal Studios isn't less family friendly because there are casinos nearby.

Gosh thats a mess then ; Paramount pulling out of the licensing deal with that never-to-be-built park in London is one thing, but this thing they have been building for a few years. The lawyers are going to have a field day.

Alternatively, its all going to open before Xmas. ;-)

There may be even more to it than that. James Murdoch seems to have decided (once his company had made the deal) that Fox should make their own theme parks, not licence out the Fox name for uses they have no control over. Apparently this would be "inconsistent with plans for the Fox brand post-merger" so I wonder if that hints at a Fox land at a Disney park?
