Gigs 'n' Tours

Went to see Roger Waters on friday at Earls Court, which was nothing short of spectacular. Of course it didn't live up to what Floyd could put on, but it was still on par with the best gigs I've been to. Musically it was pretty much perfect, give or take a few spots, and the show itself was amazing. It was a lot more political than I thought however, with a giant 20ft inflatable pig flying around the arena with "Say no to Bush" painted on the side, and a lot of anti-war messages throughout.

There was also a giant astronaut flying around too, which was pretty cool.

He covered all of a number of Pink Floyd classics in the first set, then the second set he did all of Dark Side of the Moon followed by Another Brick in the Wall and Comfortably numb for the encore, which is probably the greatest live thing I've ever witnessed. :D

Yeah, the main reason they split was because they couldn't stand Waters being politically overbearing. The Final Cut is just a complete waste of space, not because it's bad musically, but just because the political messages have no relevance today, and are too blatant

Ah well, I saw Pink Floyd themselves do the whole of Dark Side, plus most of their other stuff; on the tour that was released as "Pulse". Now THAT was the best gig I've ever been too, especially as Dave Gilmore can sing and play guitar, two things Waters has struggled with!

^ I am quite the jealous girl.

Next closest thing possible that you could call a gig for me is Middlesbrough Music Live on 3rd June. Yay!

Well I guess that is an advantage of being old. :p I would give so much to see the original band in concert, and the way things are going, it's starting to look like it might happen. :D *Cough*

I admit Mr Waters can't sing as well as he could use to, but the lack of his musical-perfection was made up by the quality of the rest of the band. IMO seeing The Great Gig in the Sky sung note-for-note was worth half the ticket price alone.

Here's just hoping a reunion tour is in order...

Hey Middlesbrough Music Live is well cool, a free festival and the town gets buzzing for it every year.

You look at most of the lineup and think "WTF?!" but in a year or two you'll find they're best thing since sliced bread.

A bit disappointed ****ing Tony Christie is one of the headliners though LMAO.

Meatloaf was ****ing amazing.

Made even better thanks to the para woman shouting "MEATLOAF, I'M SO ****ING HARD-UP FOR YOU **** ME RIGHT NOW!" throughout the whole thing.

Well OMFG!!!

I went to see Meatloaf last night and to say I am still buzzing from it is an understatement.

I have wanted to see him Live ever since I was a kid when my dad used to listen to him on a Sunday Afternoon. cliched as it sounds, that really happened!

Basically, the latest tour is called the Three Bats Tour and does what it says on the tin really. A collection of songs from all three Bat Out Of Hell albums.

The concert was superbly opened with a very well staged Paradise By The Dashboard Light. The duo were electric in their reencacting that doomed relationship and the whole audience was in hsyterics when she ripped off his wig!

I could go on about every single song that did because it was jsut amazing. Every last bit of it had me out of my seat and singing at the loudest I have been able to sing. Put, it this way, my throat is worse then GhosterForce could ever dream of making it!

The fact that he did Objects In The Rear View Mirror had me nearly peeing my pants with excitement. He did not dissapoint. It sounded totally awesome live. Much like Out of The Frying Pan with the totally amazing fire cannons on the stage, and fireworks.

Naturally, the culmination was Bat Out Of Hell, it is amazing how that song sounds when you have a full band, Meatlaof and a rammed to the rafters Wembley Arena screaming every single last word as though their life depended on it. A moment that will forever be in my memories vividly.

I mean, the guy is getting on a bit, but he still has it. He started quite promptly at 815 and was just finishing up at 11 after only having a small interval which wasn't offical. It was just a video showing all the films he has done for about 5 minutes.

I have even more respect for the guy then ever before and I am totally hooked on the latest Bat because of the show. Rock On Meat!!!

As a grand finale to their festival/stadium summer tour, IRON MAIDEN will perform a special one-off performance at London's Brixton Academy on Sunday 24th June in aid of The Clive Burr MS Trust fund.

Brixton Academy holds just 4,800 and tickets for this intimate performance will go on sale to members of the Iron Maiden fan club at 9am on Friday 25th May. The box office will open to the general public a week later on Friday 1st June.

This will be Iron Maiden's final UK appearance for at least a year, and will be the last time they will perform this years special set list of songs from their No 1 International album 'A Matter Of Life and Death' and the album 'The Number of the Beast'. The show will be the last chance to see the spectacular stage production that the band have been performing with around the world, including Eddie and his tank up close for the last time. Special guests will be Lauren Harris and eight piece Indian Rock act Parikrama, who came to the band's attention when they supported Maiden in Bangalore in March, and will be the first time an Indian rock band have toured the UK.

The Clive Burr MS Trust Fund was founded in 2001 when it was learnt that original Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, who performed on their first three albums, Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number of the Beast, was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Through previous Iron Maiden performances at Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo, and some amazing fund raising efforts of the fans, the trust has improved the quality of life with financial support to Clive and other MS sufferers.

Reflecting on the forthcoming show Bruce Dickinson commented, "We added this final date to help continue the great work that the Clive Burr MS Fund has done. We've had an amazing time on this tour so far and the summer shows are shaping up to be something quite special in their own right. It promises to be a fun and special way to celebrate the end of the tour with all our friends who have supported us and Clive over the years."

Advance ticket information has already been sent to all online Iron Maiden Fan club members. Ticket master are kindly donating a proportion of their booking charges to the fund.
YAY :D
Assuming I manage to be awake for the booking time on Friday *sets every alarm in house* and beat the rest of the general public to the few remaining tickets, then not seeing Metallica, Muse or any others this Summer will pay off - I saved the money in case a Maiden gig showed up, and show up it did... Just can't keep away from London, can I

I'm really excited for Sunday now!
Looking forward to seeing Elliot Minor and The Dykeenies, not forgetting Tony Christie.

Not allowed to bring your own booze though Pierre. I bet you're devastated.

Missed this. No they aren't planning a Re-Union tour, as come on they are getting on a bit now. Gilmour is around 60 now. To be honest its kinda died now, since Syd Barrett is dead, as it was all for him. Now he's gone the Crazy Diamond is no more.
They got offered a £1bn contract for a world tour, and denied it. But they said if it was for charity like Live 8 they'll do something.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
:D I got my Maiden ticket :D
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm very happy now, because I remembered to wake up early enough to book it - and they have already sold out now. Same price as the Metallica tickets, incidentally, but I'm expecting a far superior performance, though I wish I didn't have to go to Brixton for it

Actually Willy, the were availiable most of the day if you knew where to look :p

I got 6, just because I could :D

Ebay + Spares = I go for free

It's immoral but thats sort of expected of me by most of you, isn't it?

I see where you are coming from. I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, but if it was to happen, by God it would be ****ing amazing!

And Will, you know damn right Metallica will pwn that at Wembley, and even the Dony gig :p

Talking of Dony and Maiden, Iron Maidens set is being streamed live over the internet on the Download website.

On another note, I decided to buy a Wychwood festival ticket for today, spur of the moment type thing. It isn't really my taste, but Rodrigo Y Gabriela are playing so I'm happy. :D

Download Festival approaches! Yeyness!

As for Meatloaf, wow that sounds like an amazing gig, I wish I'd have seen that for sure - didn't know he was touring, but if he does again I will have to see it, cheers for the heads up! :D
