Girl falls from tomb blaster queue

It's a shame this happened tbh as this was quite a nice little area.

Many of us just used to sit there and chat when people went on the ride.

Now, I may get hate for this, but what is a four year old girl doing running around not holding one of her parents' hands? And it seems that Chessington staff were not aware of a loose panel, although, if they were they'd lose a lot of customers and a lot more respect.
Really, a child that age should be holding someone's hand and being watched constantly. And staff should be checking fences and also reporting anything that looks broken. I don't think anyone is really to blame, but I do hope that little girl recovers, bless her heart.

^ I agree with you about the child, you won't get hate on this forum with that, we'd all agree with you on that one.

The thing is, this whole, "The park staff should check for broken fences and stuff", comment that keeps flying round is probably next to impossible to do during the season. There's so many changed every single day that happen in a park, that fencing could have lost some of it's strength in an afternoon, or even an hour after opening if another child decided to climb upon it. I think think that it's next to impossible to not have ONE single problem inside the park like this, look at some other major parks, they have a lot bigger problems then this (Look at Animal Kingdom with the Tree of Life), it's just a shame that somebody got hurt with this discrepancy.

Just to let you know Tomb Blaster is still closed following this incident, and I have a fealing it is going to remain closed until the 2013 season.

I really don't understand the logic in that. By all means close the elevated queue line on an extended basis, but the whole ride? Surely it wouldn't be that hard to set up a temporary/semi-permanent queue at ground level. Especially seeing as the entrance to the building is at ground level and accessible via a gate that bypasses the queue system anyway. Eugh.

Edit: Just had a thought. Unless the investigation is still going on and opening the ride, even via an alternative queue, could be seen to potentially interfere with it?

Because the ride exits into the courtyard that the elevated queue surrounds. It is not as simple as not using that part of the queue.

Anyway when I was at the park last week I heard construction work going on inside the courtyard area. I suppose the investigation has finished and repair work has started.

It'll be lame if they spite the tiered queueing, I always liked the sense of atmosphere it created </3

Tomb blaster has now reopened, the queue has been revamped. There are new plants and all the wooden fencing has been replaced with metal.

Oh dear. I was just reading the top comments on this page about it being potentially the family's/girl's fault. Rotted fences though and not maintaining things seems to be the cause - whether your kids a little **** or not, they should rely on basic stuff being safe.

Tbh they got off with a small fine they are lucky..

There goes the next 5 years budget for the park lol.
