Gwazi Closing in 2015

Oh great here we go again with the whole RMC can only do X amount of projects per year deal again. If anybody actually thinks that the company can only handle two projects at once, you look like an absolute dumbass. RMC just opened a new addition to their facility so now they can handle even more projects. Y'all can stuff it with your "only two rides per year" ****."

And now you look like a dumb ads trying to be clever, because RMC has stated themselves they are fully booked until 2017.
Do a bit of research before you try shooting down somebody else.

^^I second your sentiment about how it would give them a reason to redo that area of the park. The place was causing flashbacks of the Gemini midway in that it looked like a concrete jungle with a few worthless flats and a wooden-supported coaster looming over it all. It didn't feel at all like the rest of an otherwise gorgeous park and after what they did with the surrounding areas for Cheetah Hunt, Montu, and SheiKra, I could see them doing something really nice with this.

That being said, could this maybe be an excuse to add a new country/region to the park? Gwazi is considered to be part of Morocco but the area surrounding the ride didn't come across as Moroccan in the slightest, and an RMCed Gwazi, while good, doesn't really lend itself to a more Moroccan identity. They did some redrawing of area boundaries with Cheetah Hunt in creating The Crossroads, I think we should expect to see something similar happen to that area if Gwazi is to be RMCed.

Another idea I had would pertain to the layout. Maybe they could Iron Horse both sides and have one side focus on speed and airtime and the other focus on twistiness and inversions. One could head around that turn at the top of the lift at a gradual slope before just freefalling down a steep drop with a moderate starting velocity while the other side Medusas its way around that turn into a twisting drop. Turn that bit where the trains fly over that airtime hill at each other into one doing a zero-g roll close to the other as it flies over a speed hill.

Not sure if any of this is affordable for the park now but that was your Jarrett brainstorming for the day.

I just don't think it's worth doing the track the actual layout is nothing great and there is not much space to start just replacing certain parts so it does something different.

Maybe they will just use rmc or just remove it. Personally I would like to see it updated by rmc but I just cannot see it I just don't think it's worth saving. The reputation it has it so bad.

It's a shame as I liked the staton building and when it was running both sides together it was fun.

Texas Giant and Rattler were both regarded as some of the worst wooden coasters around in terms of roughness. Rebranding can do a lot. Ask Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, and any athlete or person of "importance" who has been in a scandal.

Guess what. I did do research and nothing turned up. But since you seem to be the end-all-know-all about all of this, please post a link where RMC explicitly says that they are declining project proposals due to inadequate resources. Just because a company has projects does not mean they cannot possibly have more and I refuse to believe that RMC cannot build anymore rides in the foreseeable future until you prove me otherwise.

If you forward to 19 mins in he says it there, but he does say they might be able to sneak in an extra one for 2016 which ties up with people saying gwazi will just not run for a year. It's hard to say.

Yes Owen! Nothing like having someone else argue your corner for you successfully ;) I doubt they could squeeze in a project as substantial as Gwazi for 2016, but it does seem a waste to leave it in such a state until 2017 - might they commence renovation in early 2016? Stop teasing us Alan!

On a serious note, unless you have concrete proof, can we stop all this malicious 'shooting down' of people's ideas/points/opinions! If you disagree with something someone has said, just say it politely, post a question, or introduce a counter point. Things like:

where a post of simply 'are you sure?' would have sufficed, just unnecessarily degrade the site and are offputting to both new and old members alike. Just stop it!

Can I just remind everyone that when two members have a disagreement it's a natural part of human interaction... We don't need the entire forum egging them on and posting spam as that causes arguments, thanks.

Also, be nice to each other, it's Christmas!

But technically, you didn't prove him wrong, as Marc states at 19 minutes he says they could sneak another one in, stating, in fact, they are not completely booked up.

Edit - Edited as Joey already addressed what needed to be said about the way disagreements should be handled. - ECG

I don't think we can use that as proof for or against Gwazi getting RMC'd, because it could easily be in 2017.

If it's not worth their effort to open it next year it might be more efficient to just keep it closed.

Basically, we don't know what's going to happen and remarks can be interpreted however people want, but we don't need to get nasty over some roller coaster speculation!

This is why we can't have nice things :(

Which bit of

didn't you understand?

I think an important thread of information throughout Gwazi closing is that it is being done for budgetary reasons - not ride experience. If we are to take what has been said on Screamscape/other news sites at face value, the decision to close Gwazi is one of financial concern, not rider comfort/improvement. It is very difficult to find logic in closing a roller coaster due to budgetary constraints, to then dump another $10 million into it for refurbishment.
