Holiday World

I was wondering if Holiday World was worth a 6 and a half hour drive from Memphis in October. Is the park itself worth the drive and could it fill up a day? I was also mainly wondering more about the park, not just Voyage. Is it enough to entertain myself and my dad, who doesn't ride wooden coasters, and would it be disappointing? If you could, I would prefer to here opinions from people who have been, not just "I haven't been, but Voyage looks amazing".

The park is fun. It is more feared towards little kids and such, but if your dad is willing to ride flat rides, then he will be fine. The first area you enter is Christmas, so you have all your shopping and **** there mainly. You can head towards Raven for the Halloween themed part, but beyond a few game stalls, a couple eateries and a few flats, it isnt all too spectacular. Beyond that yiu can either head towards Thanksgiving or 4th of July. Flats is the 4th of July, with a set of flyers, round up, shot tower and the flyer. Thanksgiving has the best place to eat if you're in the mood for turkey, plus it is probably the best deal there as well. It also has this pretty nifty "caller" ride (since it is a family friendly park and you dont shoot the turkeys, you call them), but it can be severely annoying by the end of it.

This probably doesnt help in the slightest

No, it does. My dad can ride some steel coasters (like MForce he loved), but he doesn't really like Flats. However, he loves shooters so Gobbler Getaway should be good. I wanted to got to the water park but it's closed for October. Is it worth waiting until next year or later just for the water park?

If your dad doesn't ride woodies I would just wait. The park is most certainly worth it though (to us enthusiasts though, there's little that isn't worth it). You can definitely use up a whole day here, I know I have, and we didn't even explore the whole park.

With the circumstances listed, I would say no. I found the dry park to be only OK. Gobbler is fantastic, and the woodies are the woodies. Since I went they have made Pilgrims Plunge a water park only ride, and that waterpark has some of the best slides in the country.

Wait until the weather warms up next year.

Holiday World is all right, but definitely not anything special and definitely not worth a 6 and a half hour drive just for the park!

If I remember correctly, the park was a lot smaller than what I was expecting and each themed area of the park only had a few rides between them with both Legend and Raven right next to each other.

A lot of people rate Raven really highly, but I thought it was a bit mediocre, although I did only ride it once first thing in the day with a one-train operation (it's second train is on Voyage, which is the 'good' train for the ride) and long lines preventing me from riding it again.

Legend was a bit horrible, and I don't really remember the rest of the theme park section all too well.

The park does, however, have an excellent water park with a lot of slides right on top of each other. Added to the way how the park does free drinks like Lake Compounce plus free sun screen dispensers around the park makes this park a decent place to visit in the summer months.

I think I'll do it next year along with a stop at Beech Bend. Probably also visit Kentucky Kingdom, Kings Island, and, maybe, Indiana Beach.

Yeah, next year is just a better time to visit.

Do that! Holiday World is my home park so you want the water park. Other that Thanksgiving though in the dry park the rest is meh but is a great place to just walk around. The staff is very friendly and the prices are very affordable. I also found Tuesdays in June to be the best time to visit because the park is dead then. Hope this helps!
