Intamin

Forgive me but I said Vekoma as an (admittedly bad) example of another manufacturer, I am not anti Vekoma (note my avatar) and you don't need to list their resume of new projects they have worked on. I was talking about where a manufacturer has engaged and worked with projects that parks/designers already have in mind and they work together to make it a reality. Vekoma are innovative in coming up with new ideas themselves.

Yeah, remember Vekoma did design a 265ft SLC for the UK, but unfortunatly, planning permission put paid to that :(

I personally think Intamin is one of my favorite ride producers at least as of recently. I felt extremely safe in many of their coasters and I really like their restraint systems on Millennium Force for example. A lot of the accidents on their rides are either the rider's fault (not that Intamin should blame them) or the person was just too obese which although it is cruel to disallow anyone to ride such amazing rides, people have to be responsible for their well-being. If you really want to ride the ride then consider losing some weight. Note: I really do not mean to offend anyone when I say this, but it just seems logical.

Intamin has made some amazing rides. Millennium Force, Superman-RoS (SFA), Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, Volcano, Wicked Twister, and El Toro are among my best. It shouldn't be too long until I ride Avatar Airbender, Cheetah Hunt, Fahrenheit, Intimidator 305, Possessed, Steel Venom, and Vertical Velocity. I'm sure that I will like those too. However with all that being said, Maverick is the only one that I have ridden that didn't have down time while I was on it or waiting in line. TTD and Volcano have insane wait times because they are down a good part of each day. Maverick, Wicked Twister, and I-305 had to have plans of their designs scraped or actual pieces of their track removed. This is nuts.

Maverick has long wait times too sometimes due to malfunctions, but I would hardly say that takes away from the ride...in a sense it makes me all the more grateful/excited when I finally get on the ride...

^ To me that doesn't make sense. I have waited for more than two hours for TTD on two different days because of break downs. In the end I am glad to finally get on it, but I would think that I would like the ride more if I didn't keep waiting that long.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be misunderstood. I meant that when I finally get on the ride I appreciate it a lot, maybe not more but...

Although, personally, I have been to parks with very few people there and I just dont get the same excitement when I just walk on the ride with no wait. Then there is no apprehension or build-up. I think it is important to me for an amusement park to have lots of guests because there has to be an atmosphere of excitement for me to enjoy the experience fully.

You got that right. If everything is a walk on, there is less excitement. On the other hand, I do like the ability to have 7 re-rides. When I may not get a chance to go to that park again for a while, I prefer to spend more time doing the thing than waiting for it.

^It can be give and take really. Some rides are great with a wait, some are not. Coasters with a lot of thrill I'd rather wait for.. as a 45 minute wait for MF is much better then 3 re-rides in a row. You need time to sit around and comprehend what you are about to do.

Yes, I agree. And since I am really into the technical aspects of roller coasters too, I like the chance to just gaze in wonderment at the ride...at least sometimes...
