It wasn't destroyed. It was dismantled when Shockwave was brought to the park in 1986. It was sent down to Hopi Hari in Sau Paulo Brazil under the name Katapul and is still there.
Kings Island's was closed because Togo had closed all its offices and plants in the United States. It was difficult to find and buy spare parts for King Cobra. Paramount dismantled Kings Island's and tried to sell it off. After no buyers, I'm guessing Paramount/CF had salvaged whatever parts possible to use for Shockwave (KD) and SkyRider (Canada).
