Kingda Ka and Green Lantern's removal for new 2026 record-breaking coaster

Extremely expensive to run vs the ridership it was actually getting. Six Flags was happy to run it as a loss leader for as long as it did and probably would've done so for longer, but the new bosses from Cedar Fair saw the numbers and were like no.
If it wasn't for CF, wasnt SF going to completely refurbish the ride for next year: reconstruct the launch building, repaint the whole ride, etc...?

Gotta wonder how Falcon's Flight will be different in that regard. If the world's tallest coaster can't draw enough people to New Jersey to be worth the operational costs, I can't imagine one will draw enough people to Riyadh to cover operational costs that will surely be three times as high.

Over the weekend I was tipped off that staff were asked to not come in on Friday the 28th. Word on the street is now pegging a 10am EST boom time. Will see if this is true.

Won't happen over the weekend since staff training is scheduled to happen.

The city of Jackson made an official announcement today that the ride is going down tomorrow between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. and warned residents if they heard explosions to not panic and to keep dogs and pets inside if they might be startled by the loud sounds

Bet the demolition contractors are pleased with that result - that looks pretty textbook. Quite a sight to behold seeing something so iconic come down in one fell swoop.

I've long been a bit of a critic of Ka (mostly in comparison with Dragster), but it's undeniably one of my most formative coaster experiences as a young enthusiast (coaster #70 for me, way back in 2010). Farewell, you rough, uncomfortable, iconic, magnificent beast.

Rest in peace, i only got to ride it twice but im very thankful i got the chance. Even if whatever replaces it is technically better i dont think it would be as iconic.

Came in the tallest and left as the tallest (operating) what a king.
