Last Cred Review

Ending a fantastic summer of travelling through Europe with a couple bucket list parks-Liseberg and Linnanmaki. I'll just review the big creds as all the other rides that I did were 'fine but nothing remarkable' and I don't feel the need to write extensively about them...

Liseberg

Balder-Really, really solid woodie imho. Fun, fast, and super smooth despite hearing one or two reports to the contrary. The airtime was cool but wasn't quite as strong as I was hoping for which definitely holds this back a little, but unquestionably a really fun ride and I don't really think you can go far wrong with this one.

Helix-Fantastic ride, rightly regarded as one of the best in all of Europe. In particular I love how this ride saves it's best for last, with the launch into the top hat followed by the final, and best, inversion being particularly spectacular. The airtime is also underrated. Launches are not too fantastic and there's a very minor rattle, but nonetheless a great ride overall and very well deserving of the praise that it gets.

Valkyria-Don't get me wrong this ride ain't cracking any top tens but it's very, very good for what it is. In fact, I'd say that, for what it's actually intended to be, which is really nothing more than a fun little dive coaster, I would say this ride is objectively perfect.

Linnanmaki

Taiga-Well worth the two year wait to not get almost spited again.

Oh....my.....gosh. This ride is absolutely breathtaking and features just about every element one could enjoy on a coaster. The inversions, the airtime, the launches, that DANG hang time!!! This is the only rollercoaster I've been on as an adult that I actually found to be a little bit 'scary', because at points it really does feel like it's doing it's very best to literally eject you from the ride. The dang thing warms up later on in the day making late afternoon and evening rides even more intense. Addressing two main possible criticisms.

#1 The theming-I'd argue that the fact that this doesn't have the world class theming of Taron (or indeed any theming of much note at all outside of the cool trains and some queue line) means the ride has to rely solely on how good it actually is, and the fact that this is ranked #8 on Captain Coaster just shows even more how solid the actual ride experience is. I honestly wonder if it wouldn't be even higher if this wasn't in such an obscure park.

#2 Launches could be a little faster, and there are one or two points where it slows down a little, particularly noticeable around the top hat-this is definitely true, however, I personally find this coaster to be so intense that I actually welcomed any breather I could get. Even after many, many rides I found myself bracing for the next just a little, and breathless at the end, man this ride is so so good.

So fun, so smooth, so re-ridable, Just a fantastic, fantastic ride!!!

Tips for Taiga-I would say this is best in the front row. I did this ride in many different seats and I'd say the odd numbered rows are better (read: (EVEN) smoother). The back is great too though and that's an even. I'd also say the ride is slightly better on the right side, though it's so good on both sides it doesn't overly matter. It's absolutely great in every seat and at every time though but for the very best experience, I'd say front row, right seat, late as possible. Side note only the orange train (Fiona?) was running and I've heard the red train (Felix?) is a little rougher, though obviously I can't comment on this.....

Really liked both of these parks, but for some reason despite the obvious discrepancy in ride line-up I did slightly prefer Linanmaki slightly. Just really liked the vibe. I think I prefer Helsinki to Gothenburg, and as a random side note I actually liked the drop tower, Kingi, more than AtmosFear, in spite of the height difference I actually found Kingi to be far more enjoyable and frightening overall. No real fear of coasters at all but drop towers always get me just a little for some reason and I'm yet to put my hands up on one of these. One for next year maybe....when I will definitely be revisiting this park (purely for Taiga)...

An awesome (if very expensive) trip overall.......

Valravn is a solid crowd pleasing coaster, but I think Siren's Curse does the whole drop gimmick better.

I love the way it sits on the midway. It's really imposing. I think Griffon and Oblivion do a better job making the drop part of the observation area. More dives should take advantage of that.

The layout is alright but nothing really stand out about it. The vests are comfier than most B&Ms I guess.

It would've been nice to get MF but that ride was temperamental all day and every time I walked by it, it would be closed.

Rapterra- Great layout, bit of a rattle, to me this just adds to a good and intense ride but to a paying customer that spent millions on it I'd be pissed if it ran like that. B&M made a great layout, Kings Dominion made it shine wonderfully, I really enjoyed the rides I got on it. That horseshoe turn out of the launch is one of B&M's best elements on a wing coaster and I hope they keep doing it. Also love that it paid homage to Volcano.

Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf's Revenge- Full nostalgic sappy story coming in the trip report, but basically, my family and I went here in 2007, I wanted to ride this because it was in a roller coaster book I had, dad wanted to do DarKastle instead because mom wasn't too afraid to ride it, and I missed the credit and now it's gone. But through this I got to somewhat experience it, and it's very fun and well done. It almost feels like a version of an inverted mine train, playing with the terrain and telling a story through some simple theming in a rustic woodsy setting. The ride has a bit more kick to it than I expected as well. The smoothest new B&M for 2025, though that isn't saying much.

DarKoaster- As I said above, both BBW and DarKastle are rides I have family memories with that are now entwined forever. DarKastle was a great dark ride, but this is a good indoor coaster. Much more forceful and better paced than Wave Breaker, I actually really liked the theming, I always thought these straddle coasters were going to ride like forceless family coasters but this one definitely packed a punch.

402. Wild Mouse - Cedar Point
So I was with my boyfriend trying to ride this and it broke down right before I got to the station (a pretty regular occurrence over the two days I was at Cedar Point). While the shutdown wasn't too long, I was trying to get to Steel Vengeance before the park closed. The ride layout is decent and while we didn't really spin much, I thought the layout was alright for what it was. If I wasn't in a hurry to get to the back of the park, I probably would've ranked this one a bit higher.

Orca Ride at Boujewin Seapark. A lovely family day at this park. Great shows and good for kids. The roller coaster is a zierer tivoli. And it's bafflingly slow. Is it always like this or was it because it had been raining? Honestly thought it might not make it round. Such a weird feel off the lift hill because of the huge train, feels like it will never start. Good theming on the cars though, and some theming a la penguins etc. Along the way, though they could do with a lick of paint. Honestly though, made me laugh, had fun. Go if you have an under 8 who'll appreciate the indoor soft play in the rain and the animal displays. Don't go for Orca Ride, but fun if you're there.

Hyperia @ Thorpe Park
After a delayed visit (due May), yesterday proved the perfect day to visit Thorpe Park for the first time in quite a while. Specifically a visit to ride Hyperia.
Much has been said so here goes.... WOW, just about sums it up.
Negatives first - it really is all metal sheds surrounding the area, even in the loading area so much more could have been achieved. The first element out of the station is rather pointless in my view, but I suppose it does sort of hint at what is to come further on the ride. The trims at the non-operational water section were being used which were quite noticeable.
And so to the positives. Ride soundtrack was quite effective, noticeably booming around the loading station. Fast loading and unloading meant trains were dispatching quickly. And the ride experience itself: the first drop - one of the best imo, is absolutely amazing - airtime, and real positive forces at the bottom before rising and turning over the rail at the next high point. This second element hinted at the very best part of the ride for me - the third element made up of the outward banking curve part followed by a downward inversion before the third valley. 'Out of seat' here was very noticeable and the positive g's at the bottom were so good. The stall was fun, but I thought it might be something more, though the final drop to the 'water feature' and last outward banking turn made up for this. A shortish ride which left me wanting to go again, wanting more - always a good sign. Good forces continued throughout the ride experience, and so many positive vibes from riders on the brake run.
I rode three times through the day, row 7, then 3, then at the front. All good. First run, no trims were noticed; second and third goes they did take something off the final outward banked curve.
Overall, easily my favourite Mack coaster to date (no Voltron yet); and so very nearly, but not quite, my favourite UK ride. Best ride @ Thorpe Park? Not quite for me, but I can see why many people would agree. A great ride for sure, well done Mack.

Stardust Racers: Exceptional, genuinely exceptional and by far the best coaster (both sides) in Orlando. Whilst I only got to ride on my first day at Epic due to the unfortunate events of last week, I did ride both sides twice with front row rides at night on each. The launch is the best Mack has ever built, the airtime is phenomenal and the dualling is the best I have ever experienced. It has beaten Toutatis as my favourite new credit achieved this year.

Mine Cart Madness: A little bit let down by excessive queue times, but it's a good fun coaster. It feels a little on the short side and is quite jolty, but it's also a ride that has you laughing through the whole circuit.

Curse of the Werewolf: I expected more of this, the swing launch is a good and unique little feature, but it seems to end just as it is getting good.

Hiccup's Wing Gliders: This was the biggest surprise of the trip. We expected to enjoy this ride, we didn't expect to enjoy it quite as much as we did. The layout is great with a really surprisingly intense turnaround, the theming and onboard audio are perfect and that race through the area over the water is pure fun. This ride is seriously underrated and challenges Hagrid's for the title of best family coaster on the resort.

Tron: Good, Disney needed this and it feels like a real solid step up in thrill level from the resort's other offerings. Despite being mostly indoors, it's definitely worth riding at night for that outdoor section. The little pre-show, hardly a pre-show really, is actually really cool.

Penguin Trek: Not what you'd expect from B&M at all, but a worthy addition to Seaworld which really needed another family friendly coaster to go along with its thrill driven lineup, The indoor dark-ride section is pretty good and leaving the ride into the penguin exhibit is a really nice touch.

Pipeline: The Surf Coaster: I wasn't prepared for how much airtime this has, at all. One of the few rides (along with Stardust) where as a back row rider would push for the front row. The seat mechanic is surprisingly bouncy and our feet were off the floor several times throughout the layout. Thanks to it being a dead day, we had three rides back to back without having to re-enter the queue.

Edit: Thanks to sitting in the dark on Ministry for 40 minutes, we got some free express passes so were able to re-ride Mine Cart twice.

I've just come back from a 3 day trip to the US to revisit Cedar Point and Kennywood and I got to ride a few coasters that are new to me! I'll review them all here:

Top Thrill 2 - Cedar Point
PXL_20250926_235650818.ACTION_PAN-01.COVER.jpg

Let's start with the elephant in the room; it's absolutely massive. I've already done Kingda Ka (and seen the top hat before) but the absolute size of this thing still wowed me. Zamperla have done a pretty decent job with rezamping Dragster and though I miss the strength and power of Ka's hydraulic launch, the backwards launch and the sustained sense of speed in the third launch do a pretty good job of making up for it; as long as you're in the front row. The sense of speed doesn't really hit the same anywhere else and you don't have the punchy launch to compensate back there. It's alright. What really shines about TT2 is the higher heartline and how it messes with the lateral forces coming off the top hat. I didn't brace too well on my front row ride and my body got absolutely ejected out of the train ala Flying Aces. Was it painful? Yes. Was it wonderful? Heck yeah. Top Thrill 2 is a good ride anywhere on the train but in the front row it's fantastic. I don't know if I can rave about it too much given that imho it's a bit of a one row wonder.

Siren's Curse - Cedar Point
PXL_20250926_042618672.NIGHT.jpg

Siren's Curse is a coaster I really wanted to love. I'm a fan of modern vekoma; I love Fonix, Lech, and the Energylandia vekomas, and Siren's Curse looks like it's fantastic. However, in my opinion, other than the tilt track (which is fantastic), it's a pretty dull, forceless ride with not much going for it. I had a ride towards the front of the train (row 2) and wasn't too keen. I managed one ride during early entry and then unfortunately wasn't able to get a second due to reliability problems and my lack of desire to go back on it. It's certainly cool to watch, though!

Corkscrew - Cedar Point

ow.

Steel Curtain - Kennywood
PXL_20250927_163903985.MP.jpg

Steel Curtain is a weird ass looking ride that feels super out of place at Kennywood, one that I had heard some pretty negative things about. But yknow what? I thought it was great! I really enjoyed the lack of lateral bracing on the trains resulting in some funky lateral hangtime through some of the inversions, there were some pretty ok positives and one or two moments of decent floater. There's a pretty killer trim that kind of hurts the experience towards the end, but in a world of fast paced, snappy ejector machines, I really enjoyed this take on a modern multilooper. I'd certainly take it over most B&M loopers, that's for sure!

Exterminator - Kennywood
oh now this was great lol

Yesterday I returned from my holiday trip, a 12-day camper roadtrip from my home city in the Netherlands through Germany and Italy. Before heading towards the mountains (hiking in the German Alps and Italian Dolomites) we first made a stop at the Europa Park resort! It has been on my list for a while and I am glad I finally visited. The theme park is world class and our second day at the Rulantica waterpark really was a nice way to end things off.

Silver Star - Me and my friend started our day with a ride on this B&M Hyper. My first ride on this visually impressive ride did not over-impress me in terms of ride experience, but it definitely was fun and decent. I was in the second row from the back. The first drop really is great in the back and it became one of the highlight of this coaster. The airtime hills that came after gave light airtime, unfortunately nothing too crazy. The trims also kicked in a lot. The second half of the ride - that started with an awesome drop off the midcourse brakes giving some great airtime - actually felt very different than the first half and gave the coaster some good variety of elements.
I did a re-ride at the end of the day and this ride raised my final score. The coaster rode faster, the trims didn't really kick in and the airtime was a bit stronger. It was my first B&M Hyper, so I can't really compare the coaster with any other, but overall - and definitely after my re-ride - I think Silver Star is a just a very fun re-rideable coaster. - 8/10

Voltron
- What a ride! We did this coaster directly after Silver Star. I already knew it was hyped up a lot but it still didn't disappoint. It is super well themed and presented, the coaster itself is a technological masterpiece, it has a great variety of elements and a perfect amount of intensity. Unfortunately, even though we didn't visit on a crazy busy day, the waiting times stayed very long for this coaster so I didn't do a re-ride on it. But I am happy I experienced it and I will be back one day! In terms of how much fun I had riding this coaster it's really close with my ride on Taron. However, the awesome variety of elements make it my new favourite coaster overall. - 10/10

Blue Fire
- Nothing about this coaster is too crazy, however I did think it's just a very fun re-rideable coaster with some nice floaty inversions. The build up to the launch is decently themed and presented. The launch of this coaster itself has been criticised for being weak, and even though it definitely doesn't have the strongest launch of the coasters I experienced I still think it wasn't too bad and it had a certain sense of speed to it. The highlight of the ride was the final inversion - the roll - that actually has pretty great whip to it. - 7.5/10

Wodan
- This very well themed GCI wooden coaster has a super fun out of control feel to it. A very twisty layout, running through its own structure, underneath the pathway... A lot is happening and the coaster takes it's elements with a very good pace. - 8/10

Schweizer Bobbahn
- I will give it a positive score for it being a classic and original coaster type. But it's super short and the only element that was actually kinda memorable was the helix towards the end. - 5.5/10

Atlantic Supersplash
- Like almost every ride at the park it's once again very well presented. The view from the lift-hill and the backwards portion has some nice panoramic views and the drop is fun. Aside from that it doesn't do anything super outstanding. - 6.5/10

Eurosat CanCan Coaster
- I knew nothing about this ride but it actually positively surprised me. It's long, I can really appreciate its classic French art-style and it has a nice twisty lay-out. Because it's mostly in the dark the elements feel faster than they actually are. A ride you should experience when visiting the park - 7.5/10

Poseidon
- A ride that is super well themed, I really enjoy its setting, however that's the only reason why I'm happy I've done it. The layout is uncomfortably rough and the drops are comparable with what I've done on Atlantic Supersplash. - 5.5/10

The park has a big ride-collection so I didn't do a lot of re-rides, but I had an awesome day and Europa Park has become one of my favourite theme parks I have visited. One day I'll be back to get some more rides in.

Yoy:
Um, yeah. That was actually really disappointing. I found the trains uncomfortable, it did not duel, just not great really.

Edit: Whilst I am waiting on something to load at work, I will elaborate.

The track was clunky, I have seen others report that you can feel every transition between track segment, and you can. It's like being on a heritage railway where they have the old unwelded track and you get the "ker-klunk" between each segment. It felt like something that had been there for decades, rather than a new ride. I am not one to complain about a rough ride and honestly find these complaints to be quite annoying, but this combined with the seating position was just not fun.

There was very little in the way of solid forces, it felt like it should belong the lower thrill end of the family coaster category, which isn't where it seems it should belong.

I didn't fancy re-riding, which is never a good sign. We both agreed we enjoyed Platform 13 more (which we actually re-rode) which surprised us as this was a skip-unless-no-queue ride for us*. I'm not saying it's a bad ride, it's probably a lot of fun for younger ones, but a brand new RMC raptor shouldn't be in the one-and-done category alongside the likes of Eat-my-Dust for me.

* We actually enjoyed it a lot more on this visit, it seems to have somehow improved, and we preferred it to last month's ride on the Disney version.

Emerald Park, managed to dodge Storm Amy but the park was full of trips of annoying kids and one train ops on the main 2 coasters:

Flight School
Cute theme, average family coaster.

Dino Dash
This is basically a better version of Flight School with more theming. I was in the back and had a few actual whippy moments. Also there's a water spray which is pretty funny. Makes Flight School feel redundant.

Cu Chulainn Coaster
I can never spell the name of this bastard ride. This is one I was disappointed with - really wanted to like it more than I did because it's my first Gravity Group coaster. The issues are three-fold. The first is that the airtime didn't feel that strong on my first ride, but on my second (of only 2) it had warmed up. Even after warming up, the airtime didn't feel that crazy. The second is that it loses steam towards the end, the third lap felt like it was going through the motions. These two issues would have been fine but the third was that it was really not running smooth at all. Not rough in the mad wooden coaster way, but just bouncing around. It was very visible offride. It's a good coaster and I enjoyed it regardless. Maybe if I'd got more than 2 laps it would probably grow on me but queues tended to be pretty long.

Quest
I keep finding myself at parks with these family boomerangs. This one is probably the second best of the four I've done (this, Raik, Accelerator, and Luna which takes the top spot) as the layout was genuinely enjoyable when not going backwards, and the theming and near misses really added to this.

Na Fianna Force
My number 100 coaster, and man I wish I had more than 3 goes, but hey, busy day with one train ops hinders this a lot. This ride is awesome. Super smooth, super comfy, looks awesome, intertwines with Quest, first drop goes hard for an invert, great pacing, all of it just works. I think the layout was really clever as rather than feeling like a bunch of elements, it's split into two halves. First half is the awesome drop, and packs all the inversions in with a load of near misses from Quest's station. The inversions almost barely feel like inversions as they happen so smoothly. The second half is much lower to the ground and has loads of tight whippy corners, with actual airtime double downs. It sits in the goldilocks zone where it is fast paced with a lot of elements without losing steam or getting repetitive. I want to see more of these if they're going to have that sort of thoughtful design.

I didn't do the SBF Spinner as I didn't venture into the kiddy area at all, couldn't be bothered.

Wickie Coaster, Plopsaland Indoor,

A small zierer, but smooth, very little rattle, enough gentle force to be fun. Really nicely themed, cartoon vikings and lights to look like stars. Ideal coaster for kids, in fact, my daughter found the dark ride bit of it so pretty that it may be the first coaster she has enjoyed. So a big win for me.

Spent the day yesterday in Paris doing the tourist thing but spotted something interesting from the top of the Eiffel Tower 👀 turned out to be a small fair with Zyklone-y coaster i had to go +1 on

Behold, Taxi Driver, owned by Rannou and coaster credit #1,147 for me!

They also had one of those 'never in America' swinging ships with a standing cage on the end that I had to go try. Third time seeing one second time riding one haha

AlpenFury

Minus the two hour queue, the coaster was fantastic! I didn't watch too many POVs of it before going because I wanted there to be some element of not knowing what was coming next, and I have to say, the second launch into the top hat caught me super off guard. For some reason I didn't realize it was happening right away, and even the strength of it was a surprise. The coaster is everything I enjoy, from launches, to graceful inversions that don't kill you with positive Gs, to airtime. If this thing had maybe two more pops of air, I think it'd be a contender to sit somewhere lower in my top 10. Just a truly enjoyable ride, and despite the poor capacity, Wonderland needed something like this. It also really changes the look of Wonder Mountain into a messy mesh of track, which I think looks great!

What happens when you go on a family trip to Legoland Windsor when you've not been in nearly 30 years when you were small? Creds!

Minifigure Speedway
Counting this as two since there's two separate tracks and I did get both sides. It's basically like a Vekoma family boomerang but a marginally more intense. Still not the biggest fan of going backwards (except on Drayton's Gold Rush for some reason). The view is really good from the top, but there is a distinct lack of theming compared to some of the other attractions.

DUPLO Dino Coaster
What would otherwise be a +1 is saved by two things. It is apparently the first coaster I've done by ART Engineering, and also my niece's first ever coaster.

Dragon
Despite how short the coaster section is, this was probably my favourite coaster there. I liked the castle and the dark ride section is great. Plus it has a few whippy moments around the course if you're near the back with the lap bar basically not lowered at all. I went on this twice just to look at all of the lego animatronics and silly looking people, it's good fun. I had no idea what the layout was which was a nice surprise.

Dragon's Apprentice
Yep, this was just a +1 which I figured I might as well do to complete the set.

Reading the thread on worst spites, with people flying to Japan and having multiple spites, did put my irritation at not getting on Ride to Happiness because of the wind in perspective. It's a 2 hour drive, I can just fix it. So I did.

Flying visit to Plopsaland, drizzle, open for Halloween but schools not off yet. Tight timetable because school pickup, but perfect, everything was walk on.

Ride to Happiness This was the reason for return so straight on. I love the theme and it is executed very well.

1000033483.jpg

I like that it is about happiness not scariness. I got on the back row. The launch is excellent and the constant slow spinning makes for a very different Ride experience. Lots of ejector and airtime and it really did make me smile. But, the sinewy smooth slow spinning is a little bit at odds with the track which is rattley. It's quite a strange juxtaposition because it feels smooth in some ways but very jarring in others. Quite hard to explain, but the spinning and the rattling did give me a bit of a headache. I had another ride on the front, and towards the back later in the day. Neither changed my mind. It is a great bit of kit, very different feel, a lot of fun, but a little bit headachey each time so not quite a top ride for me. Glad to have ridden and very re-rideable.

Whilst I was there I got rerides on Heidi and Anubis that I had only got one ride each on last time so a few extra observations on those.

Heidi I really like it, little bit of air, not too much rattle, no dull spots, great banked turns. Just a lot of fun. Rode front, back and middle. All good.

Anubis Hmm, I was surprised it wasn't jarring last time, but today 2 out of 3 rides were. I was in different places so I guess one car is worse than the other. A bit more like the Eurofighter headbanging than I would like. Great punchy launch, good intensity, short and sharp. Don't like the slow final corkscrew. Down a bit in my estimation.
1000033490.jpg
Great views from the starflyer which I also popped on because it was closed in the wind last time.

Enjoyable 3 hour visit! 9 rollercoaster rides plus the starflyer, could easily have been more but that's about my limit I this timescale.

I just got back from a totally spontaneous trip to Walibi Holland. I was invited for a quick visit during their Halloween Fright Nights event — so it wasn’t meant to be a full-on coaster day. Still, despite being Dutch, I hadn’t been to the park in years and was missing quite a few of the newer creds. There was no way I could leave without finally riding Untamed… so I did.

Untamed - My first ever RMC, and I loved every second of it. I rode in the back row, just after the sun had set. It wasn't completely dark yet, but it was already dusk, and the ride's light package was already on. The train was flying through its course. The first drop was amazing - in the back row it's basically a free fall - the airtime is possibly the best I've experienced on a rollercoaster, and this ride has some super solid inversions. This coaster just blasted its way into my top three, right alongside Taron and Voltron. I’m still figuring out the exact order. - 10/10

I have already planned another trip to the park. So the other creds will almost certainly follow soon.
