Lightwater Valley - Future?

Interesting what he stated about The Rat building, love to see a new indoor rollercoaster with the original theme but modernised
That building is the easiest win of all for him. Realistically it is probably next season's big ride, and I suspect it will be that travelling indoor coaster Mellors have, but I'm still holding out for the wild river rapids in the dark...

I suspect Hollenblitz would be too tall for the building!

Alongside a new ride in the Raptor Attack building, rumours suggest Turbulence (Bling) and an additional 3rd ride will open at the park next season. 3 additions this season and 3 additions next would certainly be a great start from the Mellors Group!

Just checked the sizes, and hollenblitz is approximately 18 metres, the wildcat in the rat/raptor building is about 12 metres. Not sure if the size on hollenblitz includes the show building.so 6 metres to play with.

If the area gets used again I’d like to see it use the original theme but modernised, has very good potential to be something mega for LWV once again

With Hollenblitz, I'm certain it's got an established building so can't see it being removed to be put into the Raptor Building

The 3rd ride, here's my wild guess for it, as the park has a water ride gap, I'm gonna guess it'll be a Reverchon Travelling Log Flume (the one with the two drops). Not to be confused with the Rapids that was there before which is a different type of water ride from the same manufacturer.

Another curious thing is in that interview he mentions fleetingly hoping to extend the season. I would suspect that means Halloween and Christmas events, and I wonder if the rat building or even the toad hole could be used for scare events. Just a thought.

Excellent interview by parkcast.

The thing is, people keep asking about new coasters and stuff, as if they're going to build a new permanent attraction. It seems to me that Mellors don't want to commit to permanent stuff. They want to use these parks as somewhere they can move rides to and from over and over as their needs fit. A lot of ride storage space for in between the fair circuit too.

I'd love to see them build a permanent coaster at LWV or FI but they seem happy to just use portable coasters and flat rides. A lot less risk for them if the park goes tits up I suppose, they can just move everything out as it won't be owned by the park but by them separately instead.

I also believe the park is still actually owned by the Staveley family, and the previous operators and Mellors are just operating the place but ultimately don't have full control. Could be wrong on that.

One thing with the Raptor Attack building, not sure it would meet current health and safety requirements. I've heard too that the spiral stairs going to and from the Raptor Attack building are heavily corroded and probably unsafe to use. These could even have been the reason they got rid of the previous coaster, Brighton Pier Group sure didn't like to spend money.

With Raptor Attack's closure and subsequent removal, it was announced and removed before Brighton Pier acquired the park in June 2021.

It was previous ownership/operators, Livingstone Leisure Ltd who made the call for Raptor Attack to be removed and sold to Cotaland, along with the other thrill rides.

They were the owners of Flambards at the time of it's closure and did similar to the park with it's major rides too including it's only rollercoaster, Hornet (a Zierer Hornet where the only other one in existence was Vol D'Icare at Parc Asterix).

I get the impression they aren't averse to permanent stuff, and will endeavour to make travelling rides seem permanent, and I think that is one of the reasons the wheel has taken so long to open, but I think they are very much looking at bang for buck and to get the park up to scratch before building new stuff at a high cost.

Having seen what they've done to get it into shape so far, I can't imagine something like a spiral staircase being much of a challenge to get fixed. Especially given they have their own fabrication yard.
