Magic Kingdom | 7 Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster | Vekoma/Disney

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

YAY progress. ^ Oh I don't know if you want us to beg for these photos or something, because we will not ;)

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

Apparently it's supposed to be like a dark ride / roller coaster with trains that rock back and forth with the turns (themed to mine carts).

^You can look on the first page of this forum. There are videos which show it in action, well the prototypes at least.

Oh did not notice that, thanks man.
Maybe a bit of a simple concept but im sure with some first class Disney theming it could be quite a fun family coaster.

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

Yh, it'll be good, Disney coasters are always good, even when they're ****! Can't wait to ride it next year :)

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

2014!
But so much has been done already. Guess it will be worth the wait. But isn't that when Harry Potter phase two ment to open? You don't supose they delayed it so their gate figures aren't totally down when Potter opens for round two of those giant crowds.

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

The coaster was a last minute throw in to replace pixie hollow in the fantasyland expansion.

Also its been delayed since they are trying to figure out how to let the cars swing freely but not too much to make it over-nauseating.

Also anyone think this may catch on as a more modern sitdown "suspended" coaster?

It's already booked, oh well, my mistake! Something to look forward to next time I guess.

Jesus, this must be the longest overhaul ever, when did they start the work on Fantasyland?

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

^Indeed. Expedition Everest took something ridiculous like 3 years to build didn't it?

I am quite interested to see how this works out. I will be honest and say that I wasn't exactly wowed by the pre-vis videos I have seen. It seemed rather lacklustre and slow.

Undoubtedly, it will be far better than any video can show, plus with the epic amount of theming involved, I will love it.

Everest took around 4 years to build. I have pictures of it being built and it done. The time was 4 years apart.

As for this the ride is exciting. It will be interesting to see if the stop the swinging for the scenes or let it keep swinging

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

Yeah, I knew it had to be around the 3+ years area. I remember it being announced in 2003 and then opening in 2006 and following the whole thing.

I was always under the impression that the Seven Dwarfs coaster was set to open in late 2013. Shame to hear it isn't going to be until 2014 now. Although, that does kinda set in stone that we wont make a visit until then, what with the new Potter stuff at Universal too. We might as well wait for all those major projects to be done.

Re: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster - Magic Kingdom (WDW)

^It was announced for 2014 since it was a last minute addition but it would not surprise me at all if it gets pushed to 2015

What has been done so far looks really, really good. But the coaster.... all I could see was a few supports, no track anwhere (apart from a large pile in some car park).
