Such filth comes out of your mouth!

Don't hate just because I'm black!

Never.. ever.. say that again.

The Mist

Well.. rented it because I was bored.. and well.. it was meh.. it wasn't really too entertaining and wasn't scary in the least bit.. although the monsters were pretty ****ing silly.

It does delve into the nature of humanity, which was the lone thing I found interesting.

And the ending.. dumb.

6/10

I watched a bit of Cube Zero last night.

The beginning has the BEST WORST WAY TO DIE EVER!

Its just so Ugh! That death is alot better than the entierty of Saw.

Rest of the movie is Alright. Not the smartest of the lost since they killed the co-ordinates for the Cubes so its basiclly a random run through. It does delve into the nature of the Cube as well which I'm not sure about.

Over all better than Hypercube But not as good a the original.

BUT BEST WORST WAY TO DIE EVER!

I can't actually remember the View to a kill one but I don't think I was impressed by that either so you sir, have bad taste in music.

Hah, coming from someone who apparently doesn't like Duran Duran, that's funny!

THE best tunes are Live and let die (also my fav Bond flick) and Goldfinger by far.

Live and Let Die was a good one, but Goldfinger? That automatically nullifies anything else you have to say about my music tastes. You actually like the way Shirley Bassey screeches? You do know that they used to play her recordings at airports to scare birds off the runways, right?

Goldfinger was a good movie, but it had one of the worst theme songs.

I would love to know where you hear that I don't like Duran Duran. Your sources are worse than a dog trying to catch its tail. I also had a discussion last night with my film fanatical friends and they reminded me of that theme tune, its quite good (A view to a kill one). I'm sorry but how can you say that Goldfinger has a bad theme, its what you can associate with Bond films. I was so happy when Tina Turner re-created something similar/more 90s version for Goldeneye.

CedarPoint6, you have random marks for Bond films.

Last night I went to a screening of Grindhouse. The fans turned out for one of the first screenings in London (there be 4 more over the next two weeks). It was at the Prince Charles cinema, just off Leicester Square. Its a proper Grindhouse cinema too which just added to the effect. It cost £5 to get in which is a bargin for both films in one screening. Considering no one had pre-booked, the cinema was 95% full (Friday's screening is also fully booked). Just goes to show that UK fans stick to their word and actually go along to these events (unlike America, hence why we got the films seperatly).

Anyways, onto the film.
First up we had Planet Terror. This film is great, its funny, gory and just plain fun. I also found it amusing when everyone cheered when Bruce Willis came on screen, I don't know why but it was funny. Planet Terror I think is actually better than Death Proof but it is very close. So there was a little break for the fake trailers which were awesome. Rumours are gathering that Machette is actually getting made...yay :D I thought Rob Zombie's Werewolf women of the SS and Edgar Wright's Don't were hilarious and I just want to re-watch them again and again. Then after this small break we had Death Proof. This film is fun but at times it also goes on too much (conversations at table in cafe and in the car) but redeems itself when you get the spectacular car crash (just like watching Burnout Paradise :p ). The missing reel when there is going to be a lapdance is excellent and actually got a roar of laughter from the audience.

Anyways, great night, great films....Rating: 4/5 (thats overal, although both films would probably get 4/5 each anyways :p)

Sorry for double posting peeps

Last night I went to a screening of David Lynch's Mulholland drive. WTF best explains this film. I came out of the cinema so confused just bugging everyone I went with to try and come up with some form of explanation but no one could fully explain this crazy and out-of-this World film. The film was confusing enough as it was then half way through the actors switched roles...wtf!? I was not bemused by this film it just fryed my little brain until it overloaded with random cripe. Before I went in I knew it was going to be a confusing film because I've heard so much about David Lynch's films, yet I still came out with the most puzzled expression ever. The random relationship between the two female leads was a bit weird, especially as one of them was Niomi Watts. This confused me so much though that I can't even give it a rating out of five, I just can't. :?

I rented the original Cube last night because of this comment. I thought it had the potential to be a very good movie, but a great idea was ruined by bad acting. The cop and the doctor just pissed me off. Not believable characters at all. The savant, the math whiz, and Worth were OK, but the crap-tastic acting for the other two characters was laughable.
But the overall concept is very mysterious and bizarre. I think there could have been one or two more deaths by booby trap, though, and that would have compounded the sense of hopelessness and urgency shared among the main characters.
Overall: 5/10

So what the heck was the cube then? Was it just a big random square put in the middle of nowhere with people trapped in it?

The deaths in Cube were quite gruesome, I will agree, but the acting completely ruined it, and the whole sci-fi part of it bothered me too since those aren't my kind of movies. I hated when the one chick got like smeared on the wall.

From what I remember, I'll give it a six.

Watch it and find out or look for a plot synopsis (is that the right word?)

I bring two film reviews to you tonight!

First up, Son of Rambow. Been waiting for this film for two years now, so glad its finally been released. I had some quite high expectations from this film because I wanted it to be amazing and if anything it has surpassed my own expectations! One of the best films so far this year and would defiantly be found within my top 20 films of all time. Its funny, sad, energetic, original and well acted. I can't believe it, child actors are getting better and better and these two noobs are excellent and they make the story feel real and down to earth....excellent. Its well directed and written and its such a shame its had to go through development hell (found it hard to get money to make it etc, taken them 6 years). Oh well its a great film and if you can get a chance to see it, see it!!!

Rating: 4.5/5

Next up is Tube tales. This film is a collection of I think 6-8 short films and was made in 1999. Probably the most random film I have ever seen (except Mulholland Drive, that was psycho) and I don't know if I love it or hate it, lol. Most of the shorts baffled me as they made no sense but the one titled Lust amused me a lot and ended perfectly with a quality one liner from the legend that is Liz Smith. Its probably better to watch while drunk or high so I may try and watch it while drunk if I can get a hold of a copy of the DVD :p Should be a fun experiment.

Rating: 2/5 (while sober)

Just got back from seeing 21 and I enjoyed it as I do most movies. It was a little long but they make card counting seem so easy and I enjoyed the overall plot line of the whole movie. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10

^^^ & ^^^^ Interesting. I should watch Cube and Mulholland Drive as I have had them on tape for over a year, never "had time" to watch them

Some films I've seen within a few weeks.

Jurassic Park: I saw this when I was 6, had only seen short clips after that. It was a good one, lots of action, the acting was good enough and it had some funny bits, mostly thanks to Jeff Goldblum, it had a nice 90's feel that I enjoy(ed). 8/10.

L4yer Cake: The beginning until about 35 minutes or so was a bit boring imo, I really didn't feel like continue watching it, but fortunately it got better and had some twists and humour and excitement which separates it from other con-drug-cops-films. 7/10

Guess Who: A romantic comedy, I very rarely watch them, saw this with my sister to keep company as she was a bit ill. It was a bit cheesy, predictable, stupid, but also at times a bit funny and well nothing special, but it somehow kept me watching it (due to own will). 5/10

Napoleon Dynamite: Liked this one quite a bit, I had never seen any of the actors from what I remember, still it was funny and 'interesting' and different, yet the story was quite predictable, but you can't really expect much else from this kind of film, I think. 7.2/10.

Batman Returns: Good flick, thanks to Burton. Nice 'comics'-atmosphere, good acting and well it's a good Batman film, there were things that annoyed me a little bit, yet I've never read the comics, or been much of a superhero fan, which I think explains it. Overall it was enjoyable. 7.6/10

Shawshank Redemption: Well-made, great acting, interesting, really long, which I liked, funny, it was a really nice 'warm' prison film. However you could see how American it was, both in good and bad ways like SPOILER:"one man can make a huge difference", kind of style. Also it felt a bit like it was made to get great reviews, (I don't know how to explain what I mean with that), but then again it was a really good movie, but I don't think it really deserves being ranked 2nd at imdb.com 8.7/10

Napoleon Dynamite was an amazing movie! Everyone talked about it when it came out, and although I don't hear much about it anymore, it's still hilarious.

I totally agree with you. I think that the movie itself is a good one, but it's veryyy over rated. I personally think that the Green Mile is better (compared it to that because the genres and storylines are both pretty similar), and deserves to be rated higher on IMDB, but IMDB isn't God. Although most of their ratings are accurate, Shawshank's isn't.

Last night I saw Monster starring Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci.

Well, the movie itself wasn't that amazing, neither was the storyline, but the acting itself particularly from Charlize was brilliant.

I would never have recognised the character as being played by Charlize had I not read about it before.

Overall, I'd probably give it 8/10.

Oo, Monster. I find most stories and movies about real life serial killers to be fascinating, even though most of their storylines are lacking. They still give off a lot of factual information, so it's good for someone like me who is really interested in learning about all that. I'm guessing that's probably why I was pretty much the only one in the theatre who liked the movie Zodiac when I went to see that a long time ago :p .

Aileen was a bit best up, though. And wow, that person who played her is gorgeous! Would never have recognized her.

Going to see The Ruins tonight! I don't know how good a movie about (spoiler) killer vines (spoiler over) can be, but I heard it's decent, so we'll see.

Finally got around to seeing Die Hard 4.0 this evening. Awesome. Parts of it were lacking, and the concept was very far fetched, but it was still awesome. Bruce Willis is still awesome as McClane and it was great to see my idol, Kevin Smith in it.
10/10

I haven't seen that movie in a while but I remember the plot line being quite strange and the acting though was superb.

The Ruins

I went into the theatre having mixed expectations, as the idea of
killer vines
didn't sit well with me, but I had heard some decent reviews of it as well.

Essentially it was your average horror movie, only a bit better. Five teenagers go out into the wilderness, and a bunch of horrible things happen to them, involving lots of gore and cringe-worthy moments. I didn't really like the ending, as I think they could've gone more in depth as to what happened
after the one girl got away
, but whatever.

Overall, it's definitely worth a watch, whether in theatres or on DVD.

7/10

Taylor, you don't need to say spoiler you know.. anyone with a decent IQ can get that from the trailers.. ;)

SPOILERS!

Well Snoo, most people I know have a decent IQ including myself, and we all thought it was going to be creatures living in the ruins, instead of killer plants. You also wouldn't be able to tell from the trailers that only one girl lives.

In a nutshell it was probably the best you could make a film involving killer plants.
