[October 2025] Czechiapoland - Day 3: Legendia śląskie wesołe miasteczko

Rob Coasters

Rob Poster
This is the time in my life where I go to Legendia, but obviously I wanted a little more. Being right on the border with Czechia, a country I have never visited before, this was the perfect time to cross it off my list, and with a small indoor family amusement park minutes away from the capital's airport, I had my route set in stone.

A short Uber from Prague Airport is Majaland Praha, my fourth theme park owned by Studio 100 and by far the smallest one I've done. There are a number of these tiny Maya the Bee-centered offshoots, primarily focusing on smaller children's attractions with a small handful of them boasting larger outdoor rides (especially the one in Kownaty, Poland that is conveniently by far the hardest one to get to).

The only attraction of interest here for anyone over the age of 10 is #498 Vic's Roller Coaster, an example of this ride can be seen at every single Mayaland location (and also Plopsaland Deutschland). The whole place significantly reminds me of Mandoria, and after one ride on the coaster I was headed out on a bus out towards the city center.

The first destination in my Prague sightseeing tour was Chrám Matky Boží před Týnem, the main attraction in the Old Town Square. Standing at 80 meters tall, it really doesn't look like it's that height, but its gothic architecture is stunning to look at.

Crossing the river my next stop was Pražský hrad, probably the most impressive building in the entire city and an incredible sight to behold. My coaster brain decided that this reminded me a lot of Danse Macabre in de Efteling for some reason, perhaps the dome-shape of the back half.
It should also be noted that fountains at night are one of my favourite things in the world, so I was glad to see one here, but how was this place so empty?

A new country credit means I have to try their McDonald's in some form, so it was enjoyed on my walk back down to the other side of the river.
And the way to get to the other side of the river was via Karlův most, a spectacular footbridge filled to the brim with beautiful statues.

Unfortunately I started to get tired, so I decided to head to my hotel room for the night and plan for the next day. Committing to some serious deepdiving, I discovered some elusive Czech-built credits at some random pop-up funfairs both at opposite sides of the city, enough to get me over the edge to #500. Ultimately however, I decided "nah" and booked tickets to the zoo.

Tomorrow - no roller coasters

Damn @Rob Coasters you are beasting these parks out!!!

“No rollercoasters tomorrow” is almost unexpected from you at this point 😄
I still have more in the backlogs then I'll finally be up to date, but it feels a little poetic that I'm saving best til last...

Today's not going to feature much commentary, I went to Zoo Praha for almost the whole of my day and had a truly excellent time.

At around this point I walked off the main path down a corner to get a better view of some elusive little animals and accidentally witnessed an act of clothed public lovemaking consisting of a woman going to town on her partner - he gave me a look that could kill. They weren't even that hidden or anything.

Then I headed back down.

I started to make my way to the exit of the park, but it was that awkward point where I'd seen everything I wanted to see here and there was still plenty of time until my train, yet not enough time to make a detour for at least one of the pop-up Czech built kiddie coasters that went in circles. So I looked at the train station.

I wanted another night in Czechia, so landed in Ostrava for the night at the opposite end of the country and right next to the Polish border for my venture into Katowice the next day. I was within striking distance of yet another kiddie coaster, but timings were obviously not working out.

My impressions of Czechia is that it is a truly beautiful country and ranks up with the Scandinavian ones in terms of how much I enjoyed my time here. Apologies for not saying as much, the photos have done the talking here instead.

Tomorrow - Lech Coaster

My morning started with an early train into Katowice, and my immediate first impressions of the city was that it's a drab grey brutalist place almost like the Polish equivalent of Birmingham, none of it felt welcoming and I was a little on-edge especially being greeted by three heavily hungover men at 11 in the morning who took a keen interest in me. Katowice was quickly becoming a city that I wanted little to do with, but soon enough my eyes were set on my destination.

Immediately to the right is my newest spite, a very closed Zyklon coaster known as Scary Toys Factory.

And on the other side of the lake is a coaster that I was VERY excited to ride, #499 Lech Coaster (yes I did that). Seeing a coaster has not invoked a reaction like this in me for a long time, I was seriously giddy to get on this. It stung to walk past the other operating roller coaster in order to make a special milestone. Hearing that this was one of Europe's most intense roller coasters, I wasn't going into this ride with those expectations as being a cold rainy morning in October it obviously was never going to reach those speeds.
I snagged a front row ride for my first lap, and yes it never reached those grey-out levels of intensity, but I'd be stupid to think it was ever going to reach that level today. What I did get though was a fine example of what Vekoma does best, an all-around variedly solid layout full of punches and a nice even mix of inversions & airtime. Legendia has a winner here.
1777933102571.png

More important - #500 Diabelska Petla, which I nabbed the backwards row for because why not. I met a duo of enthusiasts who saw me ask the ride op for a photo with my milestone sign, and were interested in my endeavours. I dearly wish I spoke a little more with them, I guess that my experience in Katowice city centre had thrown me off a bit and so didn't make too much conversation beyond "yeah Hyperion is my favourite, it's really good".
I also heard that this ride had an awful reputation for tracking horribly, but even in a backwards row this was simply 'fairly inoffensive' at worst. The helix at the end is a little 'off', but really not that bad, and the loops were completely fine.
I went around again for a front row ride, to similar review.
1777942761638.png

Up next was seventeen consecutive laps of Lech Coaster, some solo rides where I had the entire train to myself, plus some extended talks with the operators about my travels. They questioned my unwillingness to monetise my hobby in some form, such as recording onride POVs, to which I replied that I just did this entirely for fun - his reaction to this was general confusion and raised good points such as "it's easy", and led me to think "maybe I should". I recommended him my favourite theme parks such as Efteling and Liseberg as he seemed to be getting into parks himself!
In terms of front versus back, front has that ever-glorious sense of speed and getting ploughed into the inversions and airtime hills, but the back row has some disgusting whip over that first drop which is simply glorious, even with the slowing down to a crawl at the top of the lift hill in an attempt to minimise that. Vekoma themselves said that this ride was a "mistake" and that the intensity went too far, but for me this was perfect.
Though it wasn't that easy; it took around eight laps to sort of "adjust" to the ride. It wasn't running as intense as everyone said, which led my first couple rides to leave me thinking "okay, what of it?", but the more I rode it the more I got used to what it was, instead of thinking about what it wasn't. Sometimes knowing people's thoughts on a ride beforehand can do damage to what I think of it when I ride it.
Anyway, an easy addition to my top 50, this was so addictive to ride. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately Legendia is not in good shape. There are multiple empty abandoned ride plots where theming remains, and the direction that the park is going in can be best described as "solidly downhill". Some of these I really wanted to go on too, but they had all taken their last paying customers at least a few years ago now, so it came as no surprise.

The rides of Legendia that DO operate are fairly rare for the most part too. I deeply regret skipping the Dragon Temple, and I hope that I can get on one next time we cross paths again.
1777943076141.png

The final ride of today was Bazyliszek, the park's other EU-funded attraction - a needlessly overengineered trackless shooting dark ride. This was one of the weakest examples of a trackless dark rides I've ever done, perhaps the weakest, taking absolutely 0 advantage of its modern technology and donning an uninteresting "shoot some flowers" storyline that I mostly forgot.
1777943211024.png
1777943221173.png

So that was Legendia. Pretty safe to say this place is probably only being kept around because the owners are in some financial "we have to keep running this park because of a contract even though we really don't want to" shenanigans. The whole place has felt like it's been on its last legs since at least 2021, and if you'd like to pay Lech Coaster or whatever a visit, I'd recommend it sooner rather than later.
Eighteen laps on a single attraction in one day is my new record. Will I beat this?
