Okay... so before CP added Luminosity, they had that white screen up over by the train area. They would bring out the Peanut characters at night and have some fireworks / pyro show(s). It was a nightly deal, and I loved it. Living in Michigan, they often played many of the BIG 10 Fight songs before transitioning over to patriotic ballads like Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA!"

As a USMC Reservist from 2000 to 2008, I often looked forward to this showcase, but I cannot remember the name of it. I'm hoping to find video coverage of it since I cannot find my copy from long ago. Sure, I love that they play the National Anthem at the beginning of the day (it is the best at CP), but I also loved this show.

Does anybody recall the name of it so I can find some videos of it?

The original show was called the Cedar Point Summer Spectacular, and ran from 1995 to 2005. Some of the songs changed slightly over the years, but the staple songs and laser projections stuck with it.

The show was adapted into Hot Summer Lights from 2006 to 2010, and shifted away from laser projections to animated/film projections. Additional side screens were also added during this time.

In 2011, Cedar Point swapped to a new show American Portrait, which stuck to a patriotic theme.

During the off-season headed into 2012, the projection screen was removed, and the current Luminosity stage was added (with the old projection booth relocated in the new plaza).

A fun side-fact; all Cedar Fair parks open the day with the National Anthem. A good chunk also close the night with God Bless America.

I appreciate that and the links! I do know that all CF parks start with the National Anthem, but I think CP does it MUCH better than KI - CP does it before early entrance into the park and before ANYBODY goes into the park to ride. I was disappointed on opening day at KI this year when I did not experience that only to hear the National Anthem when at Banshee. I wish they would correct that and make it in line with CP's! Of course, CP has that flyover too... that is the icing on the cake... that and the awesome coasters once you walk through the gates!

I do recall that they added those pyro towers shortly after those videos... when I came back from Iraq in late spring of 2003, I recall going to CP and enjoying this show, but we did not get up close (I think we were riding some rides while the crowds were gathering), and those were great to see! I miss those days... always get goosebumps when the Star Spangled Banner is played... and even (to a lessor degree) God Bless America!
