What's new

Phantasialand | Avoras | 2024

Phantasialand have removed the water play area Octowuzy. It’s complimentary water & sand play area ‘Phenies Mitsch-Matsch-Spaß’ was already removed in 2022. This opens up a plot of land roughly 500m2 (enough to fit Talocan) by the lake side. Even if nothing too notable comes to this site in future (but who knows!) it does seem the Fantasy area will be receiving more attention beyond just the addition of Avoras.

The park's website has also added a description and logo for Avoras ahead of opening soon.

Something new under construction in Klugheim! Can anyone figure out where in the area this is exactly? I think this might be some sort of new viewing area for Taron/Klugheim, I can't imagine this being something really substantial as Klugheim is already quite packed, but who knows
As for Klugheim this is to replace the wooden fence which essentially divides the queue for Taron and exit of Chiapas, and create a proper themed facade which will reach up to the bridge above between Klugheim and Mexico. From the Mexico side it allegedly will look like some buildings along the midway (similar probably to how they added more buildings along the midways in Africa last year.

Previously you could see parts of Mexico clearly out of Klugheim and this supposedly should help to solve that, and make Klugheim more of a 360 degrees immersive world like Rookburgh.

With the park reopening tomorrow Avoras is finished and ready to go. Phantasialand have added it to their webpage along with these pictures.

Explore the hidden paths and dizzying climbs together with the whole family ... and find new ways to reach the sky above the Wuze Valley.

Swaying climbing nets and fast-paced tube slides, steep ladders and hidden steps – the most imaginative paths wind their way around the giant bird's body, ever upwards. Level after level, young and old alike are constantly exploring the new surprises that Avoras has in store for them. Along amazing perspectives and interactive equipment and even inside the feathered giant – full of zest for action on the trail of all its secrets ...

With Avoras, a huge monument has been erected at the gates of Wuze Town in honour of the mighty primeval bird from the legends of the Wuze. This bright bunch of people have set themselves the task of exploring it. To do so, they need the help of explorers big and small with a good dose of explorer's courage. And if the portion turns out to be a little smaller – so what? Everyone only ventures as far and as high as they like.

A surprise addition has also been revealed in Deep In Africa - Mopti's Monkey Depot.
Situated between Mamba's lifthill building/where the African Drums are set up and Colorado Adventure; it is a climbing course/play area for kids to let off steam while parents can relax in an adjoining picnic area.

Sounds like today and yesterday haven’t been great in terms of availability. Taron running two trains (I think that’s understandable though given the events of the week) but Talocan and Chiapas closed and not looking like they’re opening soon. Does anyone know what’s happening with these? I know Chiapas is having more theming at the last turn of the ride, but couldn’t this have been done sooner?

I’m visiting in just over three weeks, last time I visited Talocan was closed and I’ll be quite sad if its down again, as well as their flagship water ride.

Talocan was back open today by noon.
Chiapas was supposed to open too, technical issues unfortunately. They were working on it trying to get it open all day though.

Oh that’s good, others on the German forums said it looked far from opening. Thanks of the update, that puts my mind at rest a little.

Phantasialand 2024 round up

Both hotels have seen refurbishments, currently 5 of 6 Dragon meet and greets are back along with a few other characters out in the areas, and a number of gastronomy changes/improvements like new Churro variations and a new Asian food menu at the China Snack. A couple new bits of theming in Berlin also.

Fantasy
The new family play attraction Avoras opened with all its paths, climbing equipment, interactives and slides.

Across the Fantasy area there is a new soundtrack. As mentioned above the old water play area Octowuzy has been removed; currently the site has had sand poured over it with some potted palm trees and sun-loungers placed there. A temporary measure by all means.

Africa
As well as the new kids play area Mopti's Monkey Depot; the park have continued to add many little theming details across Africa.
The entire flooring throughout the area has been replaced with a new more in theme style floor (a section of which was already introduced last year with the WeWe Road expansion). A proper queue line has been set up for the Baobab Snack, and a new area transition between Africa and Mexico/Colorado Adventure has been created - part of the initiative to make all areas as enclosed and immersive as possible to be on the level of Rookburgh.

Africa's small Kilamba Shop however has been permanently closed with one doorway blocked up and made into a bench.

Mexico
As the park themselves recently shared a major project is underway to create a proper themed boundary between Klugheim and Mexico to make both more immersive without the wide open view into each other.
The wooden fence between the Taron queue and Chiapas exit is seeing a rockwork wall on the Taron side erected. The Mexico side is still a work in progress. As the rockwork climbs up the bridge; the Mexico path side will merge into a new Mexican building opposite the Tacana Snack as a new covered seating area allegedly.

However as part of the new theming structures work there appears to also be some structural changes coming - a new support and screws into the bridge, along with new foundations in the Chiapas basin. Potentially a new stairway connection from the bridge down to the Chiapas exit and toilets/Klugheim entry here?

Furthermore to make Mexico more immersive the food stands arcade between Mexico and Berlin has been enclosed on the Berlin side and is being fully themed up as a Mexico street.
Themed lighting and some detailing is still a work in progress.

They have also knocked through the wall in one place and connected it to this decorative Berlin square tower - this when finished will increase the floorspace and seating areas available in the arcade.

So a lot has changed and is still a work in progress as PHL continue to play theming sandbox mode. Presumably the Mexico/Berlin and Mexico/Klugheim boundaries will be finished come summer time.

Does anyone have updates on these new walls/structures around the Klugheim/Mexico area? Interested to see if they've neared completion 👀

There's more on phantafriends.de and I'm not going to lie....I'm quite gutted with how this is looking. I know it's just bad timing and these things can't be helped, but knowing my partner's first ever view of Klugheim in early June is going to be blocked by a load of scaffolding and metal frameworks is quite sad, in what is one of the best 'themed' parks out there (and my favourite). I understand they started these works back in the closed winter period, but the fact it's taking them this long to do some extra theming and a new building is a tad embarrassing.

I know in the long run, it'll end up looking great and of course separate the two themed areas better, making them more immersive, but I just feel like having all of this construction work taking place in the summer period is a bit odd.

My guess is that what they are doing is crucial for a "bigger" plan, so they have to try to stick to their schedules as best as they can. Phantasialand often does little things before something huge is constructed to prepare. The question is, what... Also, I would advise you and your partner to enter Klugheim via Mexico or Chinatown, because Klugheim is slowly being built up and more and more is being revealed. When I'm with new people in the park, I do this every time and it works much better than the way over the bridge.

Phantasialand opened the new seating area in Mexico:

Construction work on the decorative elements that should visually separate Mexico from Klugheim advanced also. Rumour says it would contain extra seating for the restaurant, but I also see options for tucking the extended queue for Taron away neatly.

The demolished upper part of this wall seems suggestive of future stairs. One that U-turn-style connects with the bridge could reduce the traffic on the other stairway down to Mexico.

So there's a report from the Cologne tabloid Express indicating that Geister Ricksha is on its last legs and is looking to be replaced in the near future, and that sources claim Phantasialand has been in contact with Efteling to help design a replacement.

Take this with a grain of salt, of course, but I'd be curious to see how a trackless dark ride like Symbolica could be made to work in Geister Ricksha's limited space, if that's the direction they're heading with it.
