PMBO - now just BO

(Yeah, I really did try to find another thread to stick this in...)

So according to RCDB, as of this year PMBO is to be known as just "Big One".

Regardless of what you think of the ride, the name/sponsorship was still pretty iconic...

When I last went to PB it was just called the Big One. I also don't remember seeing the pepsi cans aswell, but that because I wasn't really that bothered.

Here's a pic of the station;

^Correct.

It opened as "The Big One" before the sponsorship, in the same way as the Arrow looper opened as "The Revolution" (or was it just "Revolution", I forget?) before Irn Bru sponsored it.

Yeah, it's always been "The Big One". But, since the sponsorship started, more and more people started calling it, "Pepsi Max", "Pepsi" or "Biggun". So, yeah, in my eyes, it's always been "The Big One".

I thought it was actually called PMBO for many years, but they dropped the Pepsi thing a year or two ago? It's not ancient news, but hardly new.

^ I remember hearing something about it being dropped last year, think it was mentioned in that thread about the new looks trains etc. They also said the cans were removed, but that all turned out to be false, apparently.

I'm 99% certain that wasn't the case. The Pepsi sponsorship came in fairly soon after opening (definitely in the mid-late nineties), but it opened without it.

It's still listed on their website as being sponsored by Pepsi Max, but that could mean nothing but lack of updates.

I'm also pretty sure it opened as the Pepsi Max Big One - that's why it's painted in the Pepsi colours: red on top, blue underneath, and a little bit of white in between.

ETA: In fact, here's a news report from opening day (sorry, don't know how to embed):

Nothing has changed, it's still sponsored by Pepsi Max and it has been called 'The Big One' since day one, it wouldn't surprise me if the sponsor is dropped eventually.
