Potential Fast and Furious replacement for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit?

Wouldn‘t they have to be renting it for the coaster’s entire lifespan? That would get expensive fast considering James Bond is such a big franchise.
It’s not as if there isn’t precedent for doing it before - Marvel and the entire island at IoA and The Simpsons (both arguably having more global recognition than James Bond)

It’s RIP Rockit time. Permits filed for “removal of existing attraction to replace with proposed attraction”

Never got the chance to ride the thing while at IAAPA, kinda knew that was a credit I wasn’t destined to get. People on the show floor claimed that it was going down early February, in case anyone is there in the immediate future.

Man, 2024 has been quite the doozy for closure announcements of significant coasters in the US.

Scorpion - BGT (Schwarzkopf silver arrow)
Kingda Ka - SFGAdv (world's tallest coaster)
Green Lantern - SFGAadv (2nd largest B&M stand-up)
La Vibora - SFOT (last of the Intamin bobsleds)
Nighthawk - Carowinds (rare 1st Gen Vekoma flyer)
Anaconda - KD (Arrow multi-looper over a lake)
Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit - USF (AKA "MCBR: The Ride")

And AFAIK, none of these are planned to be relocated. Off to coaster heaven they roll.

Even if the ride wasn't brilliant when I last rode it, I must admit that I'm a little bit sad about the demise of HRRR. It was the first coaster I ever remember experiencing airtime on, and back when I first rode it aged 11, it was easily one of my top coasters and I absolutely loved it, so it is definitely a somewhat special ride to me even if I only rode it a grand total of 3 times overall!

It's also not an old ride at all, having only opened in 2009, so I find its closure somewhat surprising...

Nonetheless, I have every faith that its replacement will be far better. With every other major coaster in the Universal Orlando Resort being launched, I do hope that we get a good old big, gravity-fed coaster like HRRR here, but based on Universal's recent form and the rumoured theme, I'm sensing it'll be another launcher...

Funny you bring that up.

When it closes it will be the same age that Hulk was before it was completely retracked. Can't imagine it's aged well running 365 in Florida weather, plus Maurer isn't really synonymous with endurability.

It's showing its age both in terms of hardware and comparisons to Universal Creative's move towards sleeker, more advanced, less visually jarring, and mostly IP-reliant attractions. It just doesn't fit anymore.

Running it an extra summer makes sense to help absorb an expected crowd surge generated by you-know-what. Plus I'm sure their PR department has learned from the last time they retired a major coaster.

Personally I'm thrilled that my gamble to skip Studios during my first-time November visit paid off, I'll be back in the summer to rock on this beast before it fades away.
