What's new

Rank the Intamin Launch Coasters

1. Taron - Yeah, that one.
2. Soaring with Dragon - Really good stuff, just feels a little short at the end.
3. Atlantis Adventure - Dire pacing, but great in between.
4. Storm Runner - Another hydraulic that actually does cool stuff. Really cool stuff.
5. Speed Monster - The first hydraulic that actually did cool stuff
6. Juvelen - Love a good rolling launch, could be more forceful in places.
7. Jet Rescue - More forceful than the above, but shorter and a lesser launch.

8. Superman Escape - Rita with a top hat, restraints kinda kill it. Love the dark ride section though.
9. Red Force - Kinda liked it. Good trains at least.
10. Furius Baco - Hilarious.
11. Incredicoaster - Less hilarious but does a bit more.
12. Stealth - Kinda over it.
12. Zaturn - Stealth.
14. Kingda Ka - Big Stealth.
15. Xcelerator - Stealth without the brake run.
16. Desert Race - Rita but rides better.
17. Formula Rossa - Rita but bigger. Torn on where to place it to be honest. First ride would have put it in the top 7 of this list, second ride would put it at the bottom. 7 + 26 / 2 = 16.5 quick maths.
18. Rita - It was there.
19. Kanonen - Hilarious but awkward.
20. Turbo Track - Meh.

21. Tower of Terror II - Obnoxious.
21. Superman: Escape from Krypton - As above
23. RC Racer x2? - Sort of.
24. Vertical Velocity - Nah.
25. Mick Doohan's Motocoaster - Ow, my knees.
26. Halfpipe? - Hah.

Glad to see Storm Runner getting that high up the list - it's bloody excellent. :)

I have 2 creds in this flavour and both are poor. Certainly if I ridden all Intamin launch coasters I think i would put these at the bottom if this was a ‘worst’ poll.

But because this is a best poll I have to put my personal favourite of the two...
i can’t.

Rita , a modest 61mph launch is not enough to redeem the boring layout certainly after 2/3 hours of queuing.

Furius Baco - fundamentally one of the best in the world on paper (certainly at the time), wing trains, 83mph launch with a fast paced layout and an inline twist . But it’s completely ruined by its roughness. It’s not even age related roughness as it’s been like it from new.

I can’t decide. Maybe inside seat Furius Baco edges it. Just wish I could try more.

Came here just to add one iSpeed but wait... how could I forget?

1. Taiga - The smug bird swoops in, picks up the weird creature off the front of Taron in it's mouth and drops it into Bruhl, where the angry locals who don't like Phantasialand (I sympathise) beat it with clubs.
2. Taron - Yeah, that one.
3. Soaring with Dragon - Really good stuff, just feels a little short at the end.
4. Atlantis Adventure - Dire pacing, but great in between.

7. Juvelen - Love a good rolling launch, could be more forceful in places.
8. Jet Rescue - More forceful than the above, but shorter and a lesser launch.

9. iSpeed - In the context of this list, it ain't looking too bad. But meh.

10. Superman Escape - Rita with a top hat, restraints kinda kill it. Love the dark ride section though.

I’m interested in seeing where ‘Hagrid’s magical 10 hour wait’ sits in people’s lists here. Has anybody here done it yet?

Those are my Top Intamin Launch Coaster that I have ridden. Really enjoyed Hagrid’s, Theming is incredible and the Launches were more forceful than expected. But nothing compared to some of the bigger Intamin Accelerators / Blitz.

Worth an update, new for 2019 in bold:

1. Taron - yep
2. Red Force
3. Kingda Ka - why is it so rough?
4. Formula Rossa
5. Stealth
6. Furius Baco
7. Speed Monster
8. Rita
9. Desert Race
10. Superman Escape from Krypton
11. Turbo Track
12. RC - basically a flat ride

Cheetah hunt - for some unexplainable reason this one sits top of my list. I absolutely love it.

Taron - should be top really

Red force - loved the lap bars and was pretty smooth.

Kingda ka - would have been higher but it rattled like crazy when I rode and otsr’s

Xcelerator - close with Ka but the speed and height of Ka pushed it just above. Loved it for the same reasons I love red force.

Stealth - a less good version of Xcelerator but still good fun

Superman escape from Krypton - don’t even know if this really counts as an accelerator but it sits here in my list, good fun but the launch wasn’t that intense.

Furious Baco - loved the launch but got back row so had a crazy rattle when I rode which made it harder to enjoy.

Rita - not a bad ride but sits bottom of my list because it’s the least eventful imo.

I love this ride type though and I’ll happily ride any of them when given the chance, they are all very fun and provide a great rush.

Only been on 4:

1. Taron
2. Stealth

A big gulf...

3. Desert Race
4. Rita

The last two are fun but a bit uncomfortable, Stealth is great and Taron is just something else entirely.

Only been on a few:

1. Red Force - the height of the thing, the speed of the second half of the launch and wellllll....lap bars :)
2. Furius Baco - pleasantly surprised by this one! intense launch, near miss elements, love the pre-show and it wasn't that rough!
3. Cheetah Hunt - love the layout of this and the interaction with the animals and water. Launches aren't the best though but i get this is a 'family' thrill coaster.
4. Stealth - brilliant launch and its tall for the UK, but nothing else to it really.
5. Rita - good launch but the rest of the ride is just average.

5. Storm Runner - Another hydraulic that actually does cool stuff. Really cool stuff.
6. Dueling Dragon (Green only...) - Somewhere in the region of the ones that do cool stuff, but not the full package.
7. Speed Monster - The first hydraulic that actually did cool stuff.
8. Juvelen - Love a good rolling launch, could be more forceful in places.
9. Jet Rescue - More forceful than the above, but shorter and a lesser launch.

10. iSpeed - In the context of this list, it ain't looking too bad. But meh.
11. Superman Escape - Rita with a top hat, restraints kinda kill it. Love the dark ride section though.
12. Red Force - Kinda liked it. Good trains at least.
13. Furius Baco - Hilarious.
14. Incredicoaster - Less hilarious but does a bit more.
15. Stealth - Kinda over it.
16. Zaturn - Stealth.
17. Kingda Ka - Big Stealth.
18. Xcelerator - Stealth without the brake run.
19. Formula Rossa - Rita but bigger. Torn on where to place it to be honest. First ride would have put it in the top 9 of this list, second ride would put it at the bottom. 9 + 30 / 2 = 19.5 quick maths.
20. Desert Race - Rita but rides better.
21. Rita - It was there.
22. Kanonen - Hilarious but awkward.
23. Turbo Track - Meh.

24. Tower of Terror II - Obnoxious.
25. Superman: Escape from Krypton - As above
26. RC Racer x2? - Sort of.
27. Vertical Velocity - Nah.
29. Halfpipe? - Hah.
28. Mick Doohan's Motocoaster - Ow, my knees.
30. Wait, I've got 2 halfpipes. Chimelong's was far worse.

Of what I've ridden:
1. Maverick - I still revere this as one of the best; it's a buffet of coaster design that bodes for tons of re-ridability. Not one I'd classify as a true "launch", as it's much more than that.
2. Top Thrill Dragster - obvi
3. Storm Runner - It's a bummer not as many hydraulic launch coasters were built with this kind of wild and zany layout.
4. Xcelerator - A good first step into hydraulic launch for Intamin.
5. Wicked Twister (Impulses) - I really enjoy these rides. Take up little space, and have a great thrill factor.
6. California Screamin’ - It's appeal is more for it's place setting versus actual ride experience. Don't get me wrong - it's a fun ride, but not a big wow factor.
To update:

4. Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure - paint me surprised, this coaster packs a pretty good punch! It's the length and storytelling effect that give it the edge for me, with a borderline runaway-mine-train style layout that has a lot of fun twists and turns.
5.Xcelerator - A good first step into hydraulic launch for Intamin.
6. Wicked Twister (Impulses) - I really enjoy these rides. Take up little space, and have a great thrill factor.
7. California Screamin’ - It's appeal is more for it's place setting versus actual ride experience. Don't get me wrong - it's a fun ride, but not a big wow factor.

1. Taron - No justification required, lovely coaster.

2. Formula Rossa - Not as good a layout as some further down the list but the length and power of the launch makes up for it. I also greyed out, it's a very intense coaster.

3. iSpeed - Brilliant intense varied coaster but let down by Intamins restraints and the neck bashing they bring. There's a few big airtime moments but this is a coaster all about snappy transitions and maintaining a sense of speed.

4. Cheetah Hunt - Love it. Yeah it's awkwardly designed but the weird layout allows great moments like the leap over the skyride and the sense of distance it feels you've traveled once you reach the slalom section. Also the airtime on the big drop off the turnaround is so powerful and sustained in the back. Just a shame Intamin didn't bring this coaster out once they learned to do lap bars.

5. Stealth - One of the most re-rideable coasters I've been on, I fondly remember going to Thorpes Summer Nights event a few years back and spending an hour doing laps on the same train. The excitement of the launch never diminishes.

6. Rita - Big drop in quality here. I like Rita, it's a solid coaster. There's nothing particularly interesting or distinct about it but I always come off feeling like I've had fun. Obviously the launch is the highlight but there's some tickles of airtime if you're sat towards the front.

7. Kanonen - Probably the coaster that met my expectations most. I went on expecting an average but fun enough coaster and that's exactly what I got. For such a slow launch it's got as much kick as say Rita and the main layout is moderately intense if a bit uncomfortable. I also loved the visual of it shooting across then back over the little river. Obviously it's not fit for modern day Liseberg but I'll definitely miss it.

8. Vertical Velocity - Another fun coaster, good sustained airtime on the back spike. I've only been on the Discovery Kingdom one where if you sit in a certain row you stop upside down on the forward 'spike' which I thought was a cool novelty.

9. Baco - Rough as all hell but if you stick your head all the way forward you can avoid the bashing. Not a fun ride like the others but I love the little downwards dip after the launch.

10. Turbo Track - Another big drop in quality here. I was so hyped for this. A really fast Intamin that goes through a window and up above the middle of a building sounds amazing on paper but the launch is forceless and I didn't feel any floatiness when I got to the top of the spike. One of the blandest thrill coasters I've ridden.

11. RC Racer - As people above me have said, feels like a flat and the cycle is too short to get into it.
