RCT3 Help, Information and Requests

Well..theres your problems.

Is the pentium 4 a celeron?

Your RAM is a little small. You need atleast 512MB. I would recomend upgrading. You will see a huge jump in performance.
The easiest way is to go to your local computer store and ask them. You shouldn't pay over $100 (about). But, it is a good expansion.
You can buy RAM yourself, and install it.

You use the book that comes with your motherboard or computer to figureout what type you need.
If you don't know, I would recomend just taking the book with you. They would want to know what type of RAM it is and your motherboard book is the best place to find it.
If you don't have your book, there are a few more ways to figure it out, that I can type later.

I would recomend enableing Virtual memory.

to do it:
Rightclick on my computer, select properties.
Select the 'Advanced tab'
then under 'Performance' select 'settings'
that opens the 'Performance Options' menu
Select the 'Advanced' tab there.
Under 'Virtual Memory' select 'change'

Now you have three choices 'custom size', 'system managed size' and 'no paging file'

I would recomend 'custom size, or 'system managed size'
If you go with custom, I would make the inital size a little over the size of your ram, and the maximum size a little over three times the size of your RAM.

I would highly recomend having a paging file.
For you I would go with 'system managed' but it is up to you.

There really isnt a difference. Custom just gives you a little more control of how much the harddrive is being used for Virtual Memory.
System managed might eat up space on your harddrive.

after you have configured that select 'set'
then 'ok'
Somewhere it prompts you to restart your computer.
You need to do that for the changes to take effect.

O yea, I forgot:
A 'paging file' or 'virtual memory' is a file on your harddrive that basicly acts as RAM.
This can slow down your computer, but also prevent it from crashing.

So, I would upgrade your RAM and inact the paging file.
You could also try disableing 'explorer.exe' on run. This will get rid of the startbar, and everything, wich you don't need during game play. If virtual memory doesn't do it, or it runs slow, that is next.

I think that should do it,
if not we could try something else.
Good luck!

We have 1GB of memory on the motherboard, its the video card that has 256MB.

It is a pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor.

The programme doesn't run slow at all and it is on the highest quality graphics as recommended.

Dude said:
How do you make your own fireworks, like the lasers.
Sorry dude, I missed your question somewhere. I think when it rolled to the second page.

I am not very good at making lasers TBH, and don't feel like being arsed to do it.
But, first I would run the laser tutorials. That should teach you the basics.

You can also visit one of the best RCT3 fireworks resources, RCTPyro.
www.rctpyro.com

Hopefully that helps.

Kaz-
O, I missread that.

So, I thought your problem was that when you started the game, it crashed.
Have you been able to play the game?
Where does it crash?
Are you doing one thing, then it crashes or is it completely random?
Does it crash in the same spot every time?

Did you get any sort of errors?
Are you doing anything in the background?
Are your settings set to as high as they can go, or are they minimal?
Do you have soaked?
(sorry for asking so many questions, they just all came to mind)

Maybe that'll get it.

It crashes randomly. Though never while onriding.
If we Save regualy it seems 7/10 to last longer before crashing.
It seems to crash almost instantly on scenarios everytime. On sandbox it lasts anything from 2 mins to 15mins between saves.
The screen can be full of goings on and it runs fine. It can have just one or two rides and you've just starting so not much for it to think about and it crashes.
It just totally freezes.
Yes we have soaked and it seems to have been since installing this!
It did it on the original till I think we put on the second update.

That help?

P.S. Its doing exactly the same on the lower spec lappie. Nothing more.

That's really weird.

I doubt it is your computer.
Maybe you can make the graphic detail smaller?
Just see what that does.

If it's up to date, the only thing I can think of is that it is a problem with the game.
You could try uninstalling everything, and going back to the store you bought it from (if you bought it from a store) and try to exchange it for a new one.

You could also try uninstalling everything, then reinstalling it (that is what I would do first).

So, I would first uninstall it all. Restart, Reinstall the origional. Restart. Update the game. Restart. then try and see if it works. maybe take a few days and see if it crashes.

if so I think its a problem with the disk, or the installation proccess. Thus leading to needing to exchanging.

TBH- that is all i can think of. You can also try going to the main atari RCT3 forums for help wich can be found here:
http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/fo ... orumid=315

And as always, good luck.

EDIT:
I just read the PS, and I think it is a disk problem.

OK ta very much. Do you know if there have been anymore updates since soaked was released? Will try the uninstall and reinstall route probably tomorrow. Will keep you informed.

I don't know off the top of my head.

The easist way is to run the update wizard via the 'auto-run' screen.

Ok, sounds good :D.

Yes, cars and busses are in soaked.

Honestly, I am not 100% sure of there location.
But, I think they are with all of the objects under the general tab.
(not with the building stuff)

Are there any fountains in rct3, not the ones with the statues, but the actual ones in the water and if yes where are they?

In soaked you can make fountains. You can also download fireworks to do that (that work with regular RCT3).
But, as far as I'm aware there arn't any.

Just look there all the objects, and if you can't find it, it isn't there.

there MIGHT be a custom objected created that is a fountain, but I have not seen it.
The best resource is probobly the atari RCT3 forums.

Good luck though.

How do you get the track to go into the ground? I tryed editing the paths to get it 90 degrees but it didnt work.

It doesn't exactly say how. I have soaked and I want to go directly into the ground and not have a vertical wall.

You can't.

The wall has to be vertical in order for it to go undergrond.

You could raise the land around it so the vertical face isn't showing.

I've bought soaked and installed it on my pc, and it works fine. But there is one slight problem with it, its stopped taking and saving photos of my people on the rides. Is this a known issue?

Not that I know of.
I never really used that feature, TBH.

You might want to check out the RCT3 atari boards, or try enableing it in the preferences place.

good luck though! :D

Just a quicky, is there anyway of turning of night mode in the Custom park mode? Nightmode may look good but it makes my computer lagg badly.

Thanks.

Put the file in this folder:
My Documents\RCT3\Start New Scenarios
And open the file threw the sandbox tab

This will give you the option of disableing night.
(that should do it, if not post again)
