Six Flags / Cedar Fair Merger Announced

Cedar Points Gold Pass with the All Park Passport added costs $205.71 including all fees and taxes:

Six Flag's Gold Pass with All Park Passport added is $1 more as they're charging $185 instead of $184 (without taxes and fees) 😂

Is it me, or does $205 for annual entry into all of the parks seem like phenomenal value for money? The amount per park is astronomically cheap if that price gives you unlimited entry to all of the parks for a year, to the point where I’d almost argue that it seems like they’re devaluing their product and it could make spend per capita low…

I’m not complaining, but I was certainly anticipating a price closer to $500 or so for annual entry to all of the legacy Six Flags and legacy Cedar Fair parks combined…

I am not renewing my pass at Dorney and I added the All Park passport to my legacy Diamond Elite VIP membership at Six Flags. I will keep that membership for as long as possible since the benefits are INCREDIBLE. I pay about $26 a month for it and it was $99 (plus taxes/fees) to add the All Park Passport. I do agree with @Matt N, it's an incredible price for access to so many parks.

I would imagine that a relatively small number of people will actually increase the amount of time that they spend traveling to different parks. For the average pass holder this will probably just result in more choices, not more park visits.

I agree it’s a great value, but there would likely be serious backlash from casual pass holders who visit the same 2-3 parks a year if the price of their pass suddenly increased by more than 200% after the merger.

Last year, we paid $123.11 for our Diamond Pass giving access to all 15 Six Flags parks. So $8.20 per park. The new offer's even better with now 26 parks (I don't count Gilroy's as a full park) for only $7.91 per park. I just can't imagine how the Black week deal is gonna top that.

Another change-up that the merger has brought on is the elimination of individual parks' PR roles. They will instead issue representatives for regional clusters of parks, with job listings having gone up last week for the East Coast;

This was something that Cedar Fair management was rumored to implement before the merger but didn't. Not sure how I feel about this, really.
Taking a look at the postings, it's hardly a true extension beyond what already exists. Merging Six Flags America and Kings Dominion? Easy maneuver as it's a trick question - SFA is actually not marketable at all! ;)

Does this mean that some of the faces of the park's communication (Tony Clark for CP, Grace Peacock for CW) will no longer serve in those roles? Or, that they'll now represent multiple parks?

(Also why can I not see this thread in the main list <_<)
I'd imagine established heads are safe, especially for North America's first and second largest seasonal parks by attendance.

Don't know about Tony, but Grace has just been promoted to the Midwest Regional PR head;

In addition to CW, the new role encompasses the following; Cedar Point, Kings Island, Six Flags Great America, Darien Lake, St Louis, Valleyfair, Michigan's Adventure, Worlds of Fun, and Frontier City. She will stay based in Canada.

I have no idea how any of this will work or even if such a role can be taken on by one person. I've been able to work with her a couple of times over the last six years and asides from allowing a known pedophile to retain media access for years she's done a fantastic job generally and I couldn't be happier for the promotion.

I get this is off topic, but when was this & what happened?

You can actually get the exact same pass for much less buying from Canada's Wonderland. Instead of paying $205, you're only paying $165 for the same pass after the exchange rate. I did that a few years ago and saved quite a bit on my current pass instead of buying from my home park.

I'm letting that lapse and sticking with my SF Platinum Pass since that gets me much better benefits.

That is if you’re not Canadian like me and hurt your wallet at US parks…

Not getting into it too much, let’s say there was a high profile YouTuber who exclusively covers the park that had a pretty long streak of grossly inappropriate behaviour and cyberbullying towards minors and other media list individuals. A lot of this came to light earlier this year along with reports that he tried to coerce multiple teenage boys over the years. Park’s PR Team response was to sweep it under the rug and advise him to stay hush, but the local RCMP began looking into it. YouTuber still issued threats to a bunch of local kids and brought an actual lawyer to personally do the same. It was a mess.

When the merger hit Six Flags published a revised set of media guidelines chainwide, very explicitly outlining a lot of the accusations. Don’t want that headache again.

Doesn't Cedar Fair require you to pick up your pass at the location where it was purchased, similar to Six Flags? Additionally, I considered renewing my Six Flags Great America Diamond pass, but the Gold pass seems to offer better value since the new Platinum no longer includes Preferred Parking or the Season Refill Cup.
