It is being reported that Skyline Park will open a major new coaster from Gerstlauer in 2024, which will be their largest coaster to date and certainly one of their larger investments at 8-10 million euros. The coaster will be 229.7 ft (70m) tall and 3,937 ft (1.2km) long. It's only 3m shorter than Kärnan. This is a very, very welcome investment by all means. It also makes sense given that they've expressed the desire for a major new coaster for some time, and Gerstlauer is only 40 minutes away and yet hasn't really worked with the park on any major projects before.

The Skyline Park in southern Germany is planning a large new roller coaster as a novelty in 2024. It should be the tallest and longest in the Bavarian amusement park.

Between eight and ten million euros are to be invested in the new roller coaster. The Skyline Park managing director Joachim Löwenthal announced this to the Augsburger Allgemeine.

The novelty 2024 should be nothing less than the highest and longest roller coaster in the Bavarian amusement park to date: 70 meters high and 1.2 kilometers long. This means that the new attraction will also scratch the height record in Germany; the currently highest steel roller coasters in this country with 73 meters are “Silver Star” in Europa-Park and “Der Schwur des Kärnan” in Hansa-Park. After that, nothing follows for a long time, until “Expedition GeForce” in the Holiday Park, which rises 53 meters into the air.

The new eye-catcher in Skyline Park would be its seventh roller coaster. To this end, the amusement park is working for the first time with the manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides from Münsterhausen, which is only 40 kilometers away.

Among other things, Gerstlauer is responsible for “The Oath of Kärnan” in the Hansa-Park and is therefore familiar with tall systems.

A few years ago, Skyline Park expressed plans to build a large new roller coaster. In fact, the highest roller coaster in the world should have been realized with the drive system of the “Sky Dragster”. However, these plans have not yet been implemented.

The Skyline Park has a weakness for high attractions: In 2020, the “Allgäuflieger”, the highest chain carousel in the world at the time, was opened.

Excuse me......
WHAT?!

Holy out-of-left-field Batman!

Is Europapark paying other German parks for not breaking their height record? I was already puzzled by Karnan ending up being the very same height as Silver Star and not just one foot taller. And now another hyper that is planed to be just 3m short of it. Come on, break the spell and take it away from EP... ;)

Conspiracy time

Not sure if this warrants its own topic, but it appears that Skyline Park is being pretty active in this off-season. The Wiegand Bobkart and Schwarzkopf Wildcat are leaving the park and they're bringing in 2 new coasters to replace those (a smaller family one and another that's supposed to be a bit larger).

Wasn’t the Wildcat only refurbished and relocated within the park a few years ago?
Yes it was, I went in September and it seemed to be in pretty good condition. Apparently it is being relocated to another park within Germany.

Skyline Park is absolutely huge as well, its a shame they couldn’t keep it and build a new coaster elsewhere!

Skyline Park has published their 2022 park map, marking the locations of the three new attractions. What I believe to the the larger of the two coasters is replacing the Bobkart, and the Sky Circle booster, is being relocated to the site of the temporary SkyFall fairground drop tower so that it in turn can be replaced by another flat ride, but it gets weird from there. The Schwarzkopf Wildcat is still on the map, while the coaster that was going to supposedly replace it is instead located closer to the Starflyer. Last I heard, they hadn't begun taking it down yet -- could management have reversed the decision to remove their Wildcat?

That's great news. As a self-proclaimed Schwarzkopf stan, it's always concerning when a coaster is potentially on the chopping block. And it's not like Skyline doesn't have an abundance of land to work with.

Showman Vorlop could buy it - he already owns two Wildcat: The "Rock'n'Roller Coaster" and the "Alpencoaster". Guess he is working on a collection ;)

So the three additions have been revealed, all are from SBF Visa and surprisingly not so bland. These are all scheduled to open near the end of the season.
  • Berg-Und Tal Hetz - Compact tire launch coaster that will reach speeds of 50 km/h. This seems like a brand new layout.
  • Flotter Otto - Children's Double Coaster layout. Oddly enough, such a small coaster will directly be replacing the Bobkart, which leads me to suspect that the rest of the site is being reserved for something much larger... 2024 hyper, perhaps?
  • Looping Alois - Tower Planes thrill ride.

Does the launch coaster seem a bit ridiculous? Like it is virtually all downhill having come off a launch already, and culminates in this tight turn at the bottom.

Berg-Und Tal Hetz has been delayed to 2023 due to delivery difficulties. Flotter Otto and the Looping Alois are still on track to hopefully open later this year;

Meanwhile, they'll also host the Après-Ski Party fairground walk-thru for the season, beginning Thursday June 16. It's owned by Andree Fackler and was built out of the shell of a former Music Express; https://www.themepark-central.de/skyline-park-apres-ski-party-2022/

😬 its not going to well for the park, both the coaster and ride that were set to open this year have also been pushed back due to "delivery problems on the part of the manufacturer." As a fix in the mean time the park has rented two rides for the season.

Statement from the park:

Dear Skyline Park friends,

We would like to give you better news today. 😔 Unfortunately, the other two new rides "Looping Alois" and the family roller coaster "Flotter Otto" cannot be opened this year due to delivery problems on the part of the manufacturer. 😢
According to information from the manufacturer, the reason for this is that important components cannot be procured and the entire construction is currently coming to a standstill.

It is currently not known when production can be resumed.
We hope for your understanding and will keep you up to date on our social media channels and in our construction blog as soon as we have more information.

As a small replacement, we have rented the Aprés Ski Party (next to the Sky Circle) and a family round trip (in the Bavarian Village) for this season and set them up in the park.
