Space World Japan To Close In December 2017

Seems satellites work. And the ride is now at Rusutsu

I'm trying to find a source for these pics. I saw them posted in a Chinese speaking QQ group but I assume they have come from somewhere else. If anyone happens to find the original source please let me know and I'll edit the post.

Interesting! Anybody know if Rusutsu bought and then later sold the ride or if the two parks are affiliated at all?

Screams of Opryland to me. A well loved park that got turned into shops to make a quick buck. Even Gaylord admit Oprylands closure was a mistake now. Wonder how this one will fare.

In storage is a generous term for abandoned the park clearly had grand plans but most of it has been left to rot for the last few years. From the now very overgrown dinosaur park to the half finished hotel the place doesn't look like it's coming back unfortunately.

Michael Portillo is doing a "Great Japanese Railway Journeys" at the moment on BBC2 (and the iPlayer) and he was in Fukuoka in the other day's episode and it made me think of Space World and I wondered what it looked like now.

The park covered that roughly triangular area now full of the outlets mentioned above and their car parks.

There seems to be a new sciencey museum "Space LABO" on the southern point of the site though (roughly on the site of the fake Space Shuttle in Venus GP's layout), so at least a little bit of the theme remains.
