The Chipboard Cities Tour

Hahaha, cheers Erol. Funnily enough I've had a few people say the opposite.

I've been eating and drinking a lot recently so I have developed a gut. Working on it...after Denmark that is!

EDIT: In case you've missed it, Torquay write-up is on the previous page.

LOL @ Soulsys "No Deal" face.

That elephant thing looks wrong, it looks like someones just disected an elephant right along the front of its face and trunk.

Anyways! Thoroughly enjoyed every part of the trip report, looks a great trip, maybe one day if I can get a bunch of Northerners brave enough to venture south we'll do it...

So 2 and then 4 guys just decided on a road trip. Sounds pretty epic tbh. Was a good read Ian, it's the sort of thing I'll be doing when I get off my arse and decide where I want to go.

Oh, and the area all around Anfield is all rundown and ****, but can't be redeveloped as long as people still live there. Highbury used to back right onto a line of houses and still does if you take a walk round there. Emirates is tucked in as well, but is still kind of separate. But if you're in London doing the touristy thing, go to Highbury/Emirates :D [/bias]

And I agree Pierre, given that it's one of the most renowned stadiums in Europe, it's shocking that visiting fans have to witness that. Especially considering what surrounds the Bernabeu and the Nou Camp.

Yep that's basically it! I've always enjoyed road trips. The four of us did an epic road trip covering 3,500 miles in the USA in '04.

The UK (well, England and Scotland ) does have plenty to offer and it's well worth doing some planning and seeing what you can. If you book Lodges well in advance then there's no reason it can't be cost-effective.

A lot of the touristy things me and Paul did were free, only the Scotch Whisky Experience cost us money to see.

Sort out an itinery and, get a few mates together and explore this wonderful land of ours!

That was truly great and funny thanks for sharing!.

I really enjoy seeing how different cities look like, what's the difference between them, when in the same country etc. (well I have been to Liverpool and Blackpool, but still). Would love to visit Scotland (or Ireland for that matter) sometime soonish. Also the whisky experience would be cool, although would have to train the palate a bit first, now is just like e.g. Laphroaig (basic 10yrs) is very good, and Black grouse is ok and Ballantines is dull, lol.

^Anyway, this has inspired me to realise my plans, and pull a nice plan together, cheers.

yeah, quite a difference: nice ares, with upscale shopping etc.

^Rhyl is quite possibly the most beautiful coastal resort we have in the UK.

Only just read this topic, and really liking it. It's made me realise that I've been **** ing nowhere in this country. I've been to more places in Asia than I have in the UK.

I've never been to Newcastle, but always thought it would be a good night out if nothing else.

Edinburgh looks gorgeous. It's stupid that I've never been there. Will have to make an effort at some point in the future.

Blackpool. I had one of the best nights out there that I've ever had. It was a Saturday night though, was the day after uni graduation, and on a mate's hen night, so everything was working in our favour I suppose. Not sure that your mate Paul would be too thrilled, but next time try The Flying Handbag, Funny Girls and Flamingoes.

It's a shame you didn't see a bit more of Liverpool. It gets a bad rap, but I think it's a really nice city generally. The city center, around Lime Street, has some gorgeous buildings, mostly museums and galleries, which are really impressive inside as well. Chester's really nice as well, and only about half an hour from Liverpool. Then you're only 20 minutes away from gorgeous Wrexham.

Torquay looks lovely. My only experience of anywhere dahn sahff is London and Brighton. Love both of those places, so should try and see a bit more really.

We saw a random elephant thing on the side of the road. Looked like a slide to me. I did see signs for Crealy, so perhaps it was for that?

Nope! I noticed it too last weekend. It is just a random slide with no real reason...

I swear, if i'm thinking it's the same one, there used to be a Little Chef or one of those places and it was in the kids playground, or I could be wrong

Can't believe I've not read this until now.

This has been an awesome report, you got to some really nice (and really awful) places. I've been to quite a few cities in the UK, but not really been on many nights out or had chances to drink in them. Might have to do something about this in the next year or so.
