Mildly disappointing? Old stuff that they can't sell any more? Free DLC for games people stopped playing a long time ago? Can't see the added value?

Yep, I think so.

I'm still viewing it as a £3.50 a month "lucky dip". The first two months though don't bode well (especially not for me). I already own half the free games they're giving away.

I'd like Wipeout HD I suppose, but I'm wouldn't pay £3.50 for it. LBP? Would like a download version as my disk is badgered. Otherwise, there's just nothing really there.

Will the rest of the year's subscription be the same?

I'm in a quandary, as I got my £40 PSN cards for £25 - so it's really just £2 a month for me. But that £40 could buy some very good PSN stuff right now.

The problem is that it seems to be designed for people who have just got a PS3, or haven't used PSN. It's not really a "reward" for dedicated PS3 owners.

Still undecided whether the few perks here are worth it. If the other 10 month's are dregs like this, then it'll be a waste of £25...

Silly Sony.

Is Blue Toad Murder files on offer for 99p then?

I paid <img> twenty quid for all episodes.

Only the first episode is 99p. If you want the others you have to shell out another £16.99.

Well, downloaded PS3 firmware 3.4 this morning and joined Playstation Plus. It was £25 for the year, so I think I'll end up quids in...

Some semi-decent new stuff on the update though, the Facebook connector:
http://apps.facebook.com/playstation/?r ... ecent&fa=1

Then you can edit videos on the PS3 and upload to Facebook or Yourtube (don't know how good it is yet). Also can upload photos off the PS3 onto Facebook and Picasa (again, not sure of the overall point).

Few other gubbins here and there. I'll report back later when I've had a better play :)

Spent the 99p to get Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle.

It's alright but it's quite repetitive and most the puzzles have nothing to do with the actual case. The game just follows this pattern on rotation:

Talk with character
Puzzle
Move to new environment
Mini-Quiz

During the hour or so of gameplay, this is all the player does. There is no exploring or individual discovery, only what the title presents. It’s understandable because it’s a co-op puzzle title, but the lack of any actual player control bogs the flow of the title down. All the voice-overs cannot be skipped creating a boredom that starts to increase after the second puzzle.

The puzzles are both fun and annoying because when they make sense in explanation, they’re both challenging and fun to complete. But when there is little to no information, the puzzles are about guessing the best possible answer. After completing a puzzle, the player is rated on the time it took to complete and how many tries. This doesn’t effect the game in any way, so as a multiplayer title, there’s no real pursuit of the correct answer the first time.

Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle sounds like it would be fun, but the lack of player options leads the title be becoming a chore. Since this is the first episode, hopefully the later episodes create better situations for players to experience.

I got the third episode for free ages back when it was free for a week so I downloaded it for if I ever got the game. So I may play through that later. Won't be paying full price for the full game any time soon though.

^I thought the narration was funny, and didn't drag at all. Also, there was no occasion where I felt I had to guess at an answer - all the information is given to you - you just have to be punctilious.

I agree with most of the rest of what you said though. I wouldn't buy it either.

Omg omg omg omg, I LOVED Battlefield Vietnam, I hope they bring back parts of the game that made it awesome.

<3 Napalm.

Been playing Fifa World Cup 2010 recently. I know it's cliche, but I really like it, and i love the more in depth penalty system. The presentation is great and I don't mind paying hte full price for it now even though I know after the world cup's gone it'll half in price.

The 3DS may be getting some good games

Shin Megami Tensei 1, SMT: Persona and Devil Survivor.

Every cloud has a silver lining I suppose

I know its ancient now but I saw Motorstorm Pacific Rift the other day for £9 pre-owned and couldn't resist.

Its as fun as the first one, the tracks are mega and look stunning, and I'm enjoying the various modes through the festival, speed mode, wreck limit, elimination, timer... great fun for £9 and a very welcome break from MW2....

Speaking of MW2, love BC2'S sly digs at the game :)

How odd, I traded in MS:pR last week for £6. We could have come to some arrangement had I known

I miss it though, and will get it back when it's back down to around a fiver when the third come out.

Oddly, I was looking at my sister's Facebook photos of her 6th form reunion over the weekend. The head of Motorstorm development, Paul Hollywood, was there. He left Widnes sixth form to join DiD to produce stuff like Epic and Robocop 3 for the Amiga and ST, then set up Evolution studios and made the WRC games for the PS2 and Motorstorm.

Really nice bloke, dropped out so has no qualifications - yet still did well enough to sell his company to Sony. He quit when Evolution was merged with studio Liverpool.

His latest game is for iPhone. It's a keepy-uppy game and you strap your iPhone to your foot

Robocop 3 for the Amiga and ST

I think I have that. It came with this thing and it wouldn't work with out it...

Robocop 3 was pretty bloody awesome (I only played hacked copies  ).

Epic though was... Epic!

Been playing Left 4 Dead, only cost £5 off Steam, bargain really. Playing with my old housemate on it, OMFG! Its just insane! Annoyingly I died right at the end of the mission. But it is really good =D No wonder he loves it!

I rented Left 4 Dead 2 today whilst we're on the subject. It's pretty much the first, with melee weapons. I kinda don't see why it couldn't have just been DLC for the first, but, whatever.

I had a number of issues with the first : lack of mid-level checkpoints, some over-powered zombies that make the first point more annoying, stupid AI and confusing level layouts. None of these have bene addressed, and so, the 2nd, like the first, remains a seires of BRILLIANT moments swamped by bad decisions. 7/10
