The Wild Frontier Theme Park

Nope - I wouldn't either. Real business doesn't work that way, you keep your cards close to your chest because there's always one **** out there who's eager to make opportunity out of other people's misfortune.

I really think this topic should just get locked to be honest, no good will really come of it.

I considered locking it a while ago but providing everybody shows respect and is constructive, I think it's fine. Besides, there are people who might want to wish Erol well with the project. As Goonfield said, if objective criticism encourages Erol, that can only be a positive thing.

I'm really not a fan of the "dream big and it will happen" mantra. It just seems a little ignorant of all the constant hard work people put into the theme park industry. Something's not going to happen just because you 'dream' it to. You have to start from the bottom, work consistently towards realistic goals, network as much as you can and gradually earn respect along the way. It's arrogant to assume you can build an entire park, with little to no experience in the business side of theme parks.

Anywho. I think The Wild Frontier really needs one of these rides as tribute to his funders ;)

I clicked the website link, came up with a Error 403, even the most low key companies know that if you're putting a link to your site in the public domain you put a suitable placeholder...
There is: http://www.thepeoplesthemepark.com

As for the business plan, do you think somebody would share their business plan publicly? I know I wouldn't!

By business plan, I mean what Paramount Park had recently with a set timeline and knowledge of what consultations were required in order for the park to progress and open, whilst the date has changed from the original one, it does at least show that the people involved in building the park have a set plan of action in motion...

I'm not expecting stuff like income/profit/outgoing/etc, because that is the stuff kept closed off to the outside world, setting out a timeline of expectated goals and acheivements over a period would at least add some gravity to something that seems in the current status, unlikely to happen (an opinion many people still have on Paramount Park and many before that, hence why we've not seen a new park in the UK for however long it's been, let alone one aiming to be above the standard)...

To be completely honest, I haven't "liked" the Facebook page for the reasons most people have stated on here. I'm all about dreaming big. I think some of my dreams are pretty big, and sometimes they seem unattainable, but I know that they are attainable because all I have to do is pick up extra hours at my job, make a bit of extra money, have a reasonable savings plan, and it will happen. This is like, a $70,000 dream. And it has been very hard so far. Your dream is a multi-million dollar dream and I'm just not sure how you're going to achieve it? It's very hard to believe that Disney Imagineers have contacted you, or that you're going to be able to raise this kind of money through a public funding page. Even for the most sick people, I have seen no more than maybe a million dollars raised. I also have to look at things that have happened in the past. Erol, you're a great guy with a great heart, but over the years you've said so many things (about moving to California, buying a Lotus, etc etc) that just haven't happened, which is why I sometimes take what's going on with you with a grain of salt. You're also very all over the place. I understand that people are well rounded and want to do a lot of things, but this is a big project and for you to be focusing your energy in like, ten different places at once (Click Richer, being a music producer, being an author and writing a novel) kind of just makes it seem like you don't know WHAT you want to do sometimes. Maybe once you reveal how all this is going to come to fruition, it might be more believable. Sure, some people do have a big break in life, and you certainly are ambitious. You probably even have lovely concept art and some really good ideas, and it's great that you're so creative, but from a funding perspective and a land perspective, I just can't imagine that anyone is going to take this seriously unless you're able to prove that you have the funds for it.

I'm glad you're getting support and that you're able to dream big despite the negativity. Like others have said, if this gets off the ground I'd be a supporter 100%, but as of right now I just fear that you're going to be laughed at by a lot of people. Building an amusement park isn't the same as buying a lotus, buying a house, moving to California, writing a novel, or even going to the **** moon. It's just a one in a bazillion chance that you will be the lucky person to be able to break into the industry without experience. I wish you well though!

I'm not going to go into this too much, but there's a couple of things I'd like to say.

Firstly, I don't have an issue with people being cynical and negative, as long as they aren't nasty. The Paramount Park topic is a prime example of a big company with a good chance of creating a park, and we didn't stop anyone from being cynical or negative there. Just because we know the person behind this doesn't mean it shouldn't be looked at closely and treated the same as any other potential new park.

Secondly, I would like to say that I think it's great Erol is trying to do something. He has the opportunity and the desire to do this and I would like to wish him all the best in his endeavour. Whatever the chances, he's going for the shot and fair play to him.

Finally, there's a few things which do concern me about the negativity. I'd like to point out this is purely from a sideline view and I'm not getting dragged into things too much.

Darren, there are a few things you've said about Erol which aren't true. He does have another job beyond MAPS and he can drive. It's a little thing, but...

Nobody really knows what Erol has here. There are assumptions being made that may or may not be true - but until there's evidence of them, then I think we should remain cynically open-minded :)

There may be silent investors already. Business partners on board putting their knowledge and weight behind the project. Erol may have been granted land by a relative. He may have the backing of people in the industry who are willing to use the park as a show piece.

I think it's a mistake to think that all there is is a dream, an MS Paint collection of monkeys on trees as concept art (remember that..?) and a hastily put together website (yeah, that wasn't such a good move - first impressions...)

We don't know the depth of the work behind the scenes and the details of how it's all going to happen. Until that information arises (and it will have to for anyone to consider investing - not a detailed business plan, but at least a decent idea), we only have speculation and what's in our heads.

Maybe Erol's jousting windmills, or maybe he's tilting against something real? I'm not asking anyone to give him a complete benefit of the doubt, it's up to you to decide, but it would be nice to wait a little to see what else there is that may surprise you.

I have worked with the creator of The Wild Frontier and know him on a personal level. He is genuine, and is 100% committed to this project. TWF will happen and will be amazing. He has the ideas and determination to make it work and it will knock the socks off of the Merlin parks.
There is no need for any negativity as this resort will be great for all and everyone will like it. Give it time and the support it needs and see what develops. Good luck to Erol and his team, I personally can't wait to go to the grand opening of the resort!

^ With all due respect; a LOT of members on here have known him on a personal level for many many years, as have I, so don't try and play the 'I know him therefore your argument is invalid' ****. Everybody here is entitled to their own opinions - as I know you are.

An eccentric Texan oil billionaire with a fistful of dollars has thrown his stetson into the ring for re-developing Reading Prison - into a Wild West Theme Park.

Hiram J. Flairpool is the man who wants to bring a whole lot more rootin’ tootin’ to Berkshire.

He wants to spend £300 million on turning the defunct prison in East Reading into the South East’s premier Wild West Park.

The Ministry of Justice is marketing the famous prison, and Mr Flairpool spotted the business opportunity from his mansion in Houston.

Mr Flairloop is planning a tribute to the "most famous wrestler of all time" Stone Cold Steve Austin.

He said: “I spotted Reading Prison was up for grabs, and I thought ‘Yee-haw, that’s a mighty fine place to have a Wild West theme park’.

“I’ve got a fistful of dollars I want to spend in Reading.

“It’ll have everything.

“Gun shows, bucking broncos, amazing rides, and a whole lot more.

“We’ll have to work a bit to make sure we adhere to England’s mighty bamboozling gun laws, but after we’ve done that we’ll be coming to Reading to get started.

“At first, I was a bit surprised to find Reading wasn’t in London, as I want to go to see the Queen, but I heard there’s a locomotive that goes all the way to London and even goes underground, which seems awfully quaint to me.”

Hiram J. Flairpool is the man behind an ambitious plan for a wild-west theme park in the old Reading prison
Mr Flairpool said he hopes the £300m is enough to purchase the prison, but added he’s got a bit more “loose change” if it needs it.

He added: “If this is a success, we’ll see what we can do.

“I’ve always liked Morecambe, and I’ve got big plans for the town of Walsall.”

Mr Flairpool added the park could feature tributes to famous Texans.

He said: “I’ve got an idea for “The Texas Rattlesnake”, based on the most famous wrestler of all time, Stone Cold Steve Austin and another ride based on our greatest ever president, the George W Bush experience.”
Potential rival or perhaps this is part of the plan?
