What's new

Thorpe's New MTDP

I recon they are getting a top spin, I heard ages ago from someone that they wanted one and they are about 65ft and they spray water. Gardaland installed one the other year.

What about those things where you are suspended from the track and have water guns etc. (can't remember the name) The more I think about it, the more it could be a possibility. Think about it. the majority of the ride is actually above the ground. Could it be that just the station and queue will be placed in Octopus Gardens.

Roller Soaker? Please god no...

It'll be a flat though, not a tracked ride I reckon...

^Yeah as I said a Top Spin one of the big ones.

That would certainly add some weight to the rumours that were flying around about 18 months ago that TP were in the market for a Top Spin.

Could it possibly be one of the doublesided varieties such as the superbly themed one at Phantasialand?

However, ever a top spin would still be pretty darn tough to shoe horn into that gap unless they are also going to use up some of the space that runs alongside Octopus Gardens (the lead up to X).

IF they were to be getting a Top Spin they must have a plan to make it fantastic with theming consider Chessington and Alton have both already had one for about 15 years now.... This is in fact what casts a massive shadow of doubt on the Top Spin idea...

I just hope they get something with good through-put, is fairly interactive with spectators (i.e you can enjoy watching like Rammy or Tidal) and doesn't stick out like an ugly sore thumb.

There have been so many ride suggestions over the years that its hard to work out what they may choose, but the Top spin like the Knotts one I think was on the cards as an option and was widely known about, so that wouldn't be suprizing. It is a water ride, but it has a fairly large footprint... 75 ft. x 39 ft according to the Huss site.

Its 18m (59 ft.) and 900pph MAX.

I know they don't really focus on theming (other than styling) much now but could tie loosely in with Amity with the water-based idea. Though I personally hate the idea of shoe-horning rides into areas, like Stealth.

I don't actually think that's a problem. I think there will be a lot of people who would've been on Ripsaw/Rameses and will be happy that they can also go on one at Thorpe. I think the fact that people know what to expect might actually attract them rather than put them off.

I would be more surprised if it was something other than a top spin. Especially as they're apparently going to try and shoe-horn in 5 new flats in the next few years.

Just have to wait and see what it says when the plans are finally published, I guess

Well, latest rumours are pointing to this...

Removed from Cypress Gardens in order to make way for Legoland...

Not confirmed though... Just a few people are pointing at this and nodding... I sure as hell hope not... As much as I loved Asterix's, this... At Thorpe... Urgh...

Ooooh, that'd be quite cool. Not sure there's much point when they already have a rapids ride. Also can't see how that would fit in that space.

I could see that at Thorpe. Apparently they aren't that wet and are lots of fun, too.

Personally I think if they are getting something other than a water ride (ie, a coaster or flat with water elements) they would advertise it as such. Water rides are popular, but they don't attract people to the park, do they? Not like a new roller coaster or thrill ride does.

Top spin? Meh, I hope not, unless it's a new generation/interesting one.

I'm going to stick my neck out here, and go with a Topple Tower.

I could see Thorpe being the first in the UK to get one, especially after Rush and Slammer.Plus they have a smaller footprint than a Top Spin,it could also incorperate fountains which would bring in the water element.

Plus, according to the Huss web site, they range between 55-66 feet in height, which would tie in with the 65 feet mentioned.

I'm hoping they don't go with that dingy slide, they've got three water rides already, four if you count Depth Charge, that's more than enough for one park.

I do not think they would risk a Topple Tower due to the well known down time. Thorpe need a ride that will not spend more time down than up.

I am a bit shocked they moved that ride from Lego Land I would have thought they could theme that easy. Maybe it will go to Thorpe but I am just not sure, it would fit into that area though.

They have also removed Starliner from there and are trying to sell it, thay coaster would be perfect for Chessington :(

I'm sorry, but, it'd be a ****ing joke if Thorpe built one of those putrid raft ride things...

I concur...

Looks like it is going to be those rapid style things. .

... damn.

I think Thorpe have got enough water rides for a park in England, there's only about 2-3 weeks a year where they're nice to ride.

Cheers for the update Rach.

I am sure that families will love it, I can not really see older teens bothering with it but who knows.

Its near enough free for Thorpe all they have to do is fly it over and install it. I personally think it would have been better at Chessington.

Yay... Another spinning ride at Thorpe...

The place is gonna start looking like Blackpool soon, only 10x smaller...

Least it's another family ride, but with does it really provide something completely different? Don't think so...

Thanks Rach, great find :)

I like the look of these. I wanted to do the one at SFNE, but it was broken.

However, I don't think they're a good addition to a park as such. I wanted to "grab the experience", but I doubt it's something I'd go on again and again.

Still, marketing says this is better than a woodie, so good look to them.

Has anyone ever been on one of these? Just wondering how wet you get.

I suppose this could be part of Amity Cove, could be good if they theme it well, but this is Thorpe...

Sh1t the focking bed this park is getting retarded. Removing the single best space in the park... aswell as the worst.

RIP AMITY COVE SIGN AND LAST REMAINING GRASSY SPACE with a ride that doesn't make any logical sense blocking X and the megastore. Way to ruin the park again.

You don't get a drop of water on you, UNLESS they put in fountains or waterfalls of course.
