What's new

Thoughts on Saw

It closed at about lunch time, and it isn't opening for the rest of the day. A car stopped on the MCBR for about 20 minutes, then they cleared the queue after it got back to the station. (lol at the entire queue gasping simultaneously as it barely cleared the immelman)

Ride availability today was terrible, colossus didn't open until lunch time, stealth closed, slammer closed, loggers closed, I got in the queue for rush, it broke. Terrible opening day.

Also by 10am the queue for saw was out of the entrance, Thorpe clearly didn't make it long enough, and the park was nowhere near as busy as it gets in the summer.

^Thus, Thorpe fails.

I've had a look at reviews and pictures of Saw, and it does look quite exceptional, especially for Thorpe. I will hopefully be able to experience it next Saturday...

^In regards to the queue being out the entrance, it is THE new ride... EVERYONE and their dog will want to go on it...

Glad didn't bother in the end... Stealth, Slammer, Logger's and Rumba were all said to be closed anyway on the site, so that's no suprise...

Hope that guy didn't go back home

Looks like Thorpe can't even get it to work properly, yes all rides have teething problems, but it has been testing ok for weeks.
Only thorpe manage to **** it up when it comes to people riding :)

From the reviews of the actual coaster, Saw: The Ride sounds really, really good, but on the opening day of the season, to have five of the main rides not working (as it states on the website) is absolutely ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I think Saw looks great, but I can't believe how they can't keep it working, and also have four other rides not working at all when they are into their main season. Typical Thorpe of what I have read from other members.

I have only visited Thorpe once, but when I went it was fantastic. I don't think anything broke down once, and the loading - except for Colossus - was great. I think Rush wasn't open that day (which seems common) but apart from that everything was running fine. I must have been really lucky because by the sounds of things at the moment, they can't keep anything major running for more than a day. I still believe Thorpe is a really good park with the ride selection it offers, but this has really reduced my general opinion of the park, and how it is ran.

They're giving Six Flags a run for their money in the maintenance and reliability department.

So far the provided footage of the ride looks really great.

Are there any riders out there who are willing to claim SAW: the Ride the best of the Eurofighters?

Haha good point.

With its theme and layout, it does seem to offer a lot more than other Eurofighters out there.

Apparently the break down today was caused by the heat (as it was warmer today than it has been) shifting some of the componants just a couple of mm away from each other, disabling the whole ride. I don't know if thats been posted yet but its quite impressive how such a tiny problem can shut the whole ride down!

It wasn't very warm at all today so if it ****s up in that heat then I doubt I'll ever get to ****ing ride it.

Exactly? What on earth is going to happen to it in the Summer!?

Saw has already broken down more times in a day than Speed ever has?

Saw was brilliant. Great ride!

[/lies]

If Thorpe can't even get their existing rides to actually open (and stay open) on opening day then they were doomed to fail from the beginning.

I'm thinking that they probably only did the required amount of testing by H&S (or whatever they have to do) and then thought **** it lets give it to some 16 year old to operate whilst we sit back in our Ivory Tower and let Guest Services take a flurry of complaints and some very angry people.

Oh the ride itself.. The station still looks like a box and the store looks like (and is) something you'd find at Margate Habour. The only redeeming feature I can find about it is that the immelman looks pretty cool walking into the area.

I'm glad everyone has enjoyed it, and it definitely looks like the best Eurofighter aside from maybe Mystery Mine, although I do find Saw theming more appealing.

I still can't see how a Eurofighter can be that amazing, though I'll have to ride one before I can put them down.
