Top 10(ish): 2024 Edition - page 124

now the reason i am posting this in here is I've just read all 89 pages and not one member has this cred in there lists ? now for my question is this because not many people have ridden it or is it because it not very good ? i am not helix's biggest fan and i think icon a snooze machine , i just a bit worried this mack will be a little forceless to ? opinions would be great.
In reply to the bit in bold - incredible! You know the forum has a search feature, right? ;)

In response to your question - the short answer is that it's not terribly well ridden by members of this forum. There are probably a couple, but I can't think of anyone who I know has definitely ridden it. @gavin is in Turkey at the moment, though, so he might be headed (or have already headed) that way.

Yep. In Turkey right now and will be in Antalya in a few days. I've already done the original Flash in China. It's excellent, so I'm looking forward to the newer one even though it's nothing really new for me.

I don't do top tens, but if I did, I don't know if it would make it. It would be pretty close if not.

The thing that jumped out at me was seeing Balder and Silver Star comparatively low. Anything in particular you didn’t like about that them? Seems odd seeing Swarm and Saw ranked pretty highly considering you’ve travelled pretty well!

Good question! I didn't enjoy Silver Star at all, had hardly any airtime on it and was very disappointed by it. Balder was fun but again didn't blow me away. I think Swarm and Saw are so high partly due to nostalgia and always having had such fun riding those with friends. I might need to think about moving Saw down, Swarm definitely belongs up there.

I think that's quite an old top 10 of @Snoo's...

Glad to see another Swarm fan! I probably find it the most underrated UK coaster!

As @Matt N said.. that is VERY old. TTD still in my Top 10? I posted mine LAST PAGE. Come on homie. However, my Top 10 has changed with even more wood at this point with 7/10 being sexy wood. That being said, I'm a big flojector/ejector fan. All of these rides give that in some capacity. For reference, my Top 10 below.

1 Steel Vengeance - Cedar Point
2 Lightning Rod - Dollywood
3 Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce
4 El Toro - Six Flags Great Adventure
5 Goliath - Six Flags Great America
6 Voyage - Holiday World
7 Wildfire - Kolmarden
8 Fury 325 - Carowinds
9 Outlaw Run - Silver Dollar City
10 Storm Chaser - Kentucky Kingdom

Thanks Gavin thats made me even more excited now seeing how well traveled you are and still saying its excellent, i am staying on site for a week with unlimited fast track its safe to say it going to get whored .

That seems - how can I put this politely - mildly excessive?

Ha ha i won't be on it constant for a week just staying on site for my summer holiday so will be experiencing the water park and local area also.

After getting to ride Voyage and Storm Chaser last weekend during the CF Live, can reaffirm their stance as #2 and #3 respectively. The new retrack work on Voyage's return journey is particularly impressive!

First
0. Trimless Voyage

I like this. Voyage was epic both ways, but it really was a different ride sans trims. My god that second half...esp the last few turns, perhaps the most intense, savage thing I've experienced.

Anyway updated list. It's getting really hard to make these now that I've gotten more top tier rides in:
1: Steel Vengeance
2: Voyage
3: Wicked Cyclone
4: Fury 325
5: Millennium Force
6-10: Storm Chaser, Skyrush, Phoenix, El Toro, Maverick

Honorable Mention (some of these could slip into top 10 tbh its becoming amorphous by this point)
Twisted Cyclone, Goliath (SFoG), Boulder Dash, Mystic Timbers, Lightning Run

Great list @GuyWithAStick! I'd be interested to know, however; what makes Nitro rank so highly for you compared to other B&M hypers you've ridden, as I don't see any others there and I've heard some relatively poor reviews for Nitro lately...

I also find the inclusion of rides like Verbolten and your low placement of Maverick somewhat interesting, but each to their own, I suppose!

Out of interest, what does each tier represent? Is it a rating out of 10 or something?

@Matt N

- Nitro was running really well when I went. According to some locals I went with it was the best they've ever seen it ran. The airtime was incredible, it was a fairly smooth ride, and was fairly secluded from the rest of the park, making for a bit of a scenic ride. I also got a sunset ride on it, which just made the thing look so dang pretty! It was definitely one of the more surprising rides of the trip. In contrast, the other B&M Hypers I've done were all good but not great. The nearest two hypers for me are Goliath SFOG and Mako, which are only like 10 spaces below Nitro. I think it has to do with the strength of the airtime not being as strong as it could. That, I'm sure, comes from me growing up in an age where RMC reigns supreme in the airtime market haha.

- Yeah Verbolten was super fun haha. Really enjoyed it, probably more than I should have. Maverick is still a great ride, but the restraints are not good and just lost its magic for me since the first time I rode it. But yeah, each to their own.

- The way I have my list set up is that there are different Tiers(S tier, A tier, B tier, etc), and each of those tiers have a +, neutral, and - distinctions. So all the ride you see in the list I posted are in my S Tier, with it going S+, S, and S- down the line. Probably a bit excessive, but it lets me group rides together a little easier.

Having finally gone out to several major parks I had not visited and then going to the CF live at KK/HW a few weekends ago, I feel like I've finally been able to settle on a top 10. Of course, I'm going to Knott's and Magic Mountain next week so this likely will update again shortly.

10. Storm Chaser
9. New Texas Giant
8. Maverick
7. Verbolten
6. Twisted Timbers
5. Skyrush
4. Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster
3. Voyage
2. El Toro
1. Steel Vengeance

That’s some serious Verbolten love.

New texas giant better then Storm chaser, you're going to have to explain that one to me. Definitely an usual opinion on here

I was waiting for this exact comment lol. So that comes from the surprise factor of this ride. I had no idea what to expect going in and it blew me away. I loved every minute of it and the theming around it really feels great. Just felt very special, and intensity isn't always what wins me over.

Any small bias I have aside, it still really thrills me beginning to end and is a slightly longer ride which always wins points from me. As awesome as Storm Chaser is, it just didn't have the size and length factor I give to Giant.
