Top 10 Theme/Amusement Parks

Re: Top 10 Theme/Amusement Parks: 2015 Edition page 6

1. Efteling
2. Phantasialand
3. Gröna Lund
4. Liseberg
5. PortAventura
6. Europa Park
7. Tripsdrill
8. PowerPark
9. Toverland
10. Plopsaland De Panne

I wasn't prepared for how stunning PortAventura actually is. Easily one of the most gorgeous and picturesque parks I've visited. The atmosphere felt very holiday-like and exotic, the theming is excellent and the surroundings (mountains on one side, sea on the other side) provide plenty of breathtaking views. Thankfully it was quiet so I really had a nice and relaxed day there with plenty of sunshine. The thing that lets the park down a bit is the ride selection. It is probably the weakest of any large-sized park in Europe I've been to so far. It has two excellent coasters, a bunch of decent water rides and literally nothing more.

1. Gröna Lund
2. Efteling
3. Phantasialand
4. Liseberg
5. PortAventura
6. Europa Park
7. Tripsdrill
8. PowerPark
9. Toverland

New entries for 2016 in bold.

Most notable change is Gröna Lund being my new #1 park. After spending quite a lot of time there the past summer having bought the 'Green card', I've just come to realise that there is no other place that I'm more passionate about. It doesn't have the best ride selection of the parks I've visited (that honour goes to either Liseberg or Phantasialand), but it has by far the best atmosphere of any park I've been to. It's just so incredibly lively, vibrant and cosy. With the live music/concerts, people having fun, all the rides passing by; it takes my breath away. The rides are all good and re-ridable, the staff is the friendliest out of all parks I've been to, operations are top notch, the views over Stockholm are stunning and at night the park is one of the most visually pleasing. It just makes me feel like a little kid again, getting super excited. It never feels quiet yet the queues are never too long. All of this, coupled with me having amazing memories of the park, spending lovely warm summer days with some of my best friends there make it my favourite amusement park. Literally all of the days I've been there have been some of the most wonderful park days. Efteling is hard to beat, but I can't deny that I feel even more excited whenever I am within that amazing gorgeous little place <3

I can imagine some would be surprised with how this park could be someone's favourite, but it's a very personal thing for me.

^ May I ask why Tokyo Disneysea is at number 10 (and below Alton)?Seems like most people who have been were blown away and have it as their number 1. Lack of ride variety perhaps?

Re: Top 10 Theme/Amusement Parks: 2015 Edition page 6

This is quite a close one for me.. in order

3. BPB
4. Thorpe Park
5. Grona Lund
6. Flamingo Land
7. Drayton Manor
8. Chessington
9. Kolmarden (Technically a wildlife park but Wildfire earns the place on the list, as well as the fact it has a themed area and a few creds)

Haven't travelled much, evident by all the mediocre UK parks. :p

I guess I could update now

1. Knoebels
2. Cedar Point
3. Hershey
4. Lake Compounce

Still only enough for 5, but my bottom 3 would be, in order from "best" to worst

Waldameer
Quassy (i had a pretty poor experience the last time I was there, enough to ruin it completely)
Six Flags America

Pretty old post here, lets update

1. BGE
2. Knoebels
3. Cedar Point
4. Hershey
5. Lake Compounce
6. Seabreeze
7. Canada's Wonderland
8. Disney Hollywood Studios
9. Universal Studios Hollywood
10. SFGAdv

I was pretty lazy, If I had just thought harder on my original post I could have come up with 10.

Bottom still stands

2. Islands of Adventure
3. Disneyland
4. Phantasialand
5. PortAventura
6. Six Flags Magic Mountain

- Universal Studios Japan
- Islands of Adventure
- Disneyland California
- Port Aventura
- Busch Gardens Williamsburg
- Busch Gardens Tampa
- Silver Dollar City

- Gronalund

Not really sure on the order but my top 20 is now something like this:

Phantasialand
Efteling
Europa Park
Alton Towers
Grona Lund
Liseberg
Tokyo Disney Sea
PortAventura
Tivoli Gardens
Tripsdrill
Hersheypark
Nagashima Spaland
Bush Gardens Williamsburg
Knobels
Islands Of Adventure
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Djurs Sommerland
Six Flags Over Texas
Gardaland
Disneyland Hong Kong

Still love green leafy parks or city parks where you are hemmed in on all sides by rides.

I loved it at night with all the lights and it has a great line-up. SD2000 was so much better than I expected and I probably love the Manta clone more than most.

It's definitely among the better Japanese parks, but very "Cedar Fair" really.

I've never been there at night, so found it lacking in atmosphere, but with a very solid line up. That was before Acrobat as well.

Tbf, that's how I feel about USJ Ben.

SD2000 was **** amazing and the park kind of reminded me of Hershey at night.
I've had a photo of the woodie all lit up as my fb background for a year <3
Also, we ended the day with fireworks going off over Acrobat. It was so fab.

It's a similar experience to Hershey - not pretty, just fab. Loads of stuff on all sides. Creds everywhere.

USJ is themed to the eyeballs and has all the best rides from all the Universals though.

And it's nowhere near as horrifically busy as people say, just don't be a mong about it.
