Universal considering UK theme park in Bedford

Give them some form of tax benefit but don't take the piss. This country isn't in a financial position to be taken advantage of by more private corporations...

Edit: I'm now thinking this country being in a vulnerable position is one of the reasons we have been selected :/

But funny rollercoaster

Hi guys. Long time lurker and have just registered to keep up with all the news. My mum lives just down the road from the potential site in Wixams and the mood around the local area is extremely positive, so I really hope that helps to push this over the line. It would be amazing to have a world class park literally on my doorstep!

I've not had a chance to watch the video yet so apologies if it's covered, but I'm hoping the current flooding situation isn't putting Universal off. It's no worse than what Florida can do during extreme weather to be fair.

I doubt that it would - I'd believe Universal likely did their research on the UK weather before going so far into their bid.

It’s encouraging to hear the MP saying that he will do all he can.

It’s great to keep getting these small updates too. If it all went completely silent for a prolonged period of time then I would start to get worried.

For my wishlist it would go something like this, would need to think more on the dark rides though.

LOTR
- Intamin - Vertical launch coaster (Themed to an eagle flying out of Mt Doom, Velocicoaster + pretty much )
- Dark ride / log flume

Harry potter
- Vekoma - Dueling flyer
(Themed to dueling dragons, i think a fantastic coaster paying homage to anouther)
- Dark ride (unique)

Entrance / Uk theme
- Intamin - straddle coaster - indoor
(Themed to Wallace and Gromit, a mini indoor version of Hagrids)
- two flat rides

Kids zone / Dreamworks (Enclosed)
- Vekoma - Switchback - Indoor
(Whatever the theme it would go through the land around the building)
- some flats
- dark ride

Jurassic park
- Bejing dark ride
- Rapids

James bond but just a stunt show tucked away. (If they do a stunt show)

Pokemon (Future expansion land)
- Intamin - multi dimensional - Enclosed
(Honestly just going through a world with pokemon animatronics would be cool to see)
- two flats

Honestly if it goes ahead i will be chuffed, i am though hoping if based off thier more recent parks we get an Epic Universe over Bejing, especially coaster wise.

My wish-list is a decent coaster that’s more than 30 seconds long because the UK is obsessed with short but sweet…..
One of the most exciting prospects of this park getting built is that it will give Merlin some actual competition. They've gotten far too comfortable.

When it comes to Nintendo properties I'd love a bunch of different ones, Pokemon, Hyrule from Zelda but out of all of them I'd really love a Metroid themed land. It will never happen, but a man can dream.

Middle-Earth has incredible potential, I can imagine a Mines of Moria coaster, with a pre-show ending with the illumination of the door into the mountain.

An interesting development, no idea how true this rumour is but would show a big statement of intent if Universal have pinched one of Disneyland Paris top imagineers to work on this project.

Very interesting!

Also, today marks one year since the announcement I believe?

Not a lot of news, but I'm not expecting to hear much until Epic Universe is open now.

Yup! Not too much has happened recently, but it's still crazy to think this might happen

If this turns out to be true then, for now, it's as good as we're going to get in terms of confirmation that they're 'currently' still pushing ahead.
