Universal Kids Resort | Frisco, Texas, USA | Theme Park

UNIVERSAL KIDS RESORT has officially been announced today, here be the juice;
Universal Destinations & Experiences officially introduces Universal Kids Resort, the company's first-ever theme park designed specifically for families with young children. Located in Frisco, Texas and first announced earlier this year, this imaginative, original resort brings the company's innovative style of storytelling to a new, younger audience.

Universal Kids Resort will include a theme park featuring immersive themed lands that celebrate Universal's iconic brand of entertainment, humor and fun – bringing to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow the youngest theme park goers. It will feature family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, unique merchandise, fun food and beverage venues and character meet and greets. The resort area will also include a 300-room themed hotel giving families a place to stay and to play following their day of adventure.

"Universal Kids Resort will inspire the unbridled creativity of kids through imagination, discovery and most importantly – play," said Molly Murphy, President, Universal Creative. "We're designing the resort so kids and families can feel the thrill of being physically immersed in their most beloved stories and characters."

Set in lush green landscape with a distinctive look, feel and scale specifically for younger kids, the park will deliver the quality the Universal brand is known for worldwide.

Progress on the new concept is well underway following a groundbreaking in November. Universal Kids Resort will drive immediate economic impact for the region, creating thousands of jobs including more than 2,500 new construction jobs. Throughout the project, the company will remain focused on ensuring the resort adds value and positively serves the community.

Additional details about Universal Kids Resort will be revealed over time. To stay updated on all the company's newest developments, visit corporate.universaldestinationsandexperiences.com.

A completely different park layout is now out, featuring not one but two coasters;

I hope no one has any dirt stuck in their throat 😏

Comparing where Epic universe is to today from just a year ago... this ground work excites me more than usual. Maybe they will have a shop selling lozenges in no time.

K might be time to give this thread a shot of adrenaline.

In the last six months they've ;
  • Gone vertical with hotel buildings (October)
  • Put down footers for the Zierer Trollercoaster (August)
  • Received water ride hardware from Hafema (July)
Per the most recent drone footage it's definitely a new park taking shape;

Gensler Architecture has worked with them to submit hotel facade plans to the city as of very recently;

Is there a kind mod willing to move this to construction?

Press day today, the official website and all social media platforms have just launched;

Seven separate themed areas confirmed; Puss In Boots, Shrek, Minions, Gabby's Dollhouse (described as the park hub), Trolls, Spongebob, and a kid-friendly take on Jurassic World.

Even more emphasis on separate, as Shrek's Swamp and Puss's Del Mar are described as different areas even though said characters exist in the same universe.

Speaking of separate, they're definitely prioritizing locations over just generic themed areas. The Minions for example are themed around overrunning a peaceful beach retreat, and are definitely describing the Hafema rapids as it sole attraction. Very different from the Minion Lands we've come to see.

Ride hardware has been piling up onsite. There's a bunch of kiddy rides, pink track/green supports for the Trollercoaster Zierer Force, and grey supports for what I'm currently assuming is a Vekoma. Weirder yet is that the latter is one of the old 335m models (think the older Hippogrith coasters), which went out of production years ago;

The park itself is shaping up to be a park. Here be concrete for that Minions water ride (yes that is a spiral whirlpool) and both junior coasters;
