What are your family's opinions on coasters?

I always forget I'm allowed to post threads. I'm lucky in the fact I've been brought up in and around theme parks and many of my positive childhood memories come from spending time with my family in these parks. However, coasters didn't have the same effect on them as it did me.

My mum thought she was really brave. She loved B&M inverts and flyers or when "the seats are below the track because it makes them smoother", though what she really liked was a smooth and gentle ride. She hated wild mouses(/mice ?!?) because they were jerky and she hated wooden coasters because they were rough. She refused to go on anything that went backwards, were very tall or had a vertical drop and seemed to complain about any airtime she got on a ride </3

My dad was a lot more easy going and was up for anything.

My sister used to be ok with them, but as she was getting older, complained a lot that she didn't like coasters or theme parks. However, the only time she's gone abroad without my parents was when she went to Orlando last year - A goon in denial...
But that also means she has creds I don't have <///3

They
A. Don't care (my oldest sibling, and my Dad)
B. Think they're scary and unsafe (my mom
Or
C. Think they're cool, but only something I'll ride because I'm extremely (heh, get it?) bored.

My dad did whatever I'd do at least once, as there aren't too many single rider q's at my local parks, and I need another rider so my ride access pass works. My mum won't touch anything that inverts, goes "too high" or has lots of Gs. The most intense thing she's done (and enjoyed) was Air. My little bro does most things, but has a lower intensity threshold than me.

I've heard a lot of "Shut up about them, already!"

I've gotten them on some good ones, though. My mom's last coaster ride before she decided that she was done was El Toro in the very back at night. My dad has been there a few times and refused to go on it, but I got him on Nitro. Both refuse to go on Kingda Ka.

A couple of cousins want me to take them on I305. I have some issues with the ride (the snappy roll transitions), but that's not what a coaster wimp says.

I don't think any of them could tell the difference between the major ones nearby, though: Steel Force, Nitro, and Skyrush.

Parents are fans but aren't into riding anymore. Wife is a fan but not that much. My 4 year old loves them to death.. already rode our first cred together. :)

My family is ok with them, but not 'into' them as much as I am, except my 4 yr old brother. He already has favorites and stuff, he is measuring his height every day(on the verge of 46" I think), and is super excited to ride all of the big woodies. He is my little goon in training, I guess. :p

My mom is the only one who doesn't like them, my sister enjoys them, my brother wants to go to parks whenever I do, and my dad goes on trips with me.

My wife is scared of them though. Good thing her and Snoo's like each other to keep each other entertained why we cuddle on coasters.

No one in my family is scared of heights. My mom grew up with Cedar Point and Geauga Lake. My dad grew up with Darien Lake but he's also been to CP several times. My brother doesn't really care. My mom doesn't ride inverted coasters anymore (or anything similar) and she won't ride anything that goes backwards. Mean Streak ruined wooden coasters for her. My Dad won't ride anything with inversions with the exception of Gatekeeper and Maverick. My brother won't ride anything that goes backwards. So most of the time, they just ride hyper coasters.

My parents don't like them and my mum especially used to be against me going to ride coasters. I showed her a photo and then an ORP of Oblivion once and she started crying bless her xD.

My grandma complains saying that I waste my money 'riding silly things', when I should be saving. Pah.

The Wife will ride most things but will avoid spinners whenever possible, she's a fan of flyers and wing riders mainly. B&M fangirl, but is yet to ride a Hyper, which I'm sure she will love.

My 4 year old has 11 creds, his current fave is the Crazy Mouse at Gullivers Land.

My Mum will ride the odd cred but will scream all the way round, but she's happy to listen to my stories.

Dad used to take us to the Merlin parks every year, but it's been a long time since he rode a coaster, he's based in Cornwall so he doesn't exactly have anything worth going on to be fair.

My parents are in their 60's/70's so their days of riding coasters are long gone.. they used to go on the smaller stuff when we were kids (big thunder mountain etc..) and Mum used to go on the woodies that were around in her day.

I've just managed to get my 28 year old sister to go to Thorpe and Alton again (having not gone for about 10 years). She likes anything swoopy and inverted (Air, Smiler, Nemesis, Swarm etc..) but refused to go on Thi3teen due to 'droppiness'.. Nice to finally be able to enjoy my hobby with her though!

Mother used to love them but can't ride them anymore because of a neck injury although she really loves Disney parks and rides what she can. My dad can't ride anything too intense, but he can ride less intense rides and pretty much any rides at Disney or Universal. My sister can ride them but doesn't really care for them much. It's amazing they take me to parks haha.

When I first got into Rollercoasters as a kid or when I was at the height my nan used to take me on because my mum hates them. If my aunt was there then my nan would get a break. Since I became of height my nan had a really bad accident meaning she couldn't ride coasters no more. Other than my aunts uncles and baby cousins bar 1 love them.

Everyone enjoys riding - makes family visits in the summer very fun when we can take a day at Cedar Point. cool)

I've never managed to get either my Mum or Dad on a coaster and I don't have any siblings. I was lucky in that they used to take me to parks as a kid (we would go to Chessington or Thorpe on my birthday every year and to Aventure Island all the time) and they would ride the log flume/rapids with me. But I distinctly remember going on kiddy creds on my own even when I was v. small.

Both parents are scared of heights (they went to the suspension bridge in Bristol recently and were too scared to walk over it, bless). I remember begging my Dad to go on a waltzer with me once and he was almost sick and that was the end of that really.

My dad loves coasters and rides everything when we visit a park together (apart from a kiddie coaster in a pay-per-ride park/fair). He's pretty interested in coasters as well and I've managed to get him to make his own coaster count account (he's currently a few shorter than 100). I doubt I would've even grown in such a goon as I am now if it weren't for him taking me (qnd mum) at least to 1 park each year when I was a kid (which is quite something, considering that basically none of the parks can be done in a day from home). Mum on the other hand isn't such a fan, but does mostly ride everything (apart from drop towers and Dive Machines) when we visit a park (she has done Nemesis, Katun, Silver Star, Karacho,... to name a few), although it really depends in what kind of mood she is on the day of our visit.

My dad is 70 next year and loves coasters - the bigger the better. Mum is left holding the bags but is scared that the rides will cause him a heart attack! However we did get her on all the water rides and she went on Big Thunder Mountain and Seven Dwafs mine train at WDW Magic Kingdom. She loved the latter so much she had her arms in the air and wanted another ride!

My mum doesn't really like coasters. My dad likes ones that aren't too big. The biggest coaster he has ridden is Cheetah Hunt.

My sister's a massive thrill seeker and likes more at parks than I do. At KI she's up for anything, doesn't care how rough it is so long as it isn't Vortex, also likes tower rides which I don't.

My dad rides Coasterd but doesn't necessarily like them. He really dislikes heights too so there are some he won't ride, namely tall coasters with slow lifts and dive machines.

My mom grabbed my arm so hard she cut off the circulation on Carolina Goldrusher.

However, there's one incredibly stupid opinion that all three of them share. They're waiting for me to find out that "it's all the same thing, why won't you realize this?"

The only coaster my dad has ridden is Bob at Efteling and he likes it, but has no interest in riding anything else for some reason.

My mom hates riding coasters. She has been on Vogel Rok, Bob and Pegasus at Efteling just because she didn't want my sisters to go alone when they were little. Both of my parents show interest though and are completely fine with it being such a big deal for me.

Both of my sisters enjoy them. Neither go particularly out of the way for them, but I've been to Phantasia, Toverland, Efteling and Walibi Holland with both.
