DC Rivals at WB Movie World on the Gold Coast having the back seat backwards was a pretty intense experience, glad i rode it forwards first so i had an idea of the layout!

Random question, but did anyone here ever try "backwards Galactica"? That was really trippy, I actually rather liked it.

I know what you're thinking - 'how the f*ck do you ride Galactica backwards?' Well... you can't, obviously, but if you asked nicely, the ride ops could 'reverse the polarity' of the VR headset - meaning that you watched a backwards facing POV on the headset... while actually facing forwards on the ride. And if you turned your head one way, the image went the other, and if you looked up, the image moved down, and vice versa.
I'd heard word on the street that it could be done, but didn't entirely believe it, so when I was there next I asked out of curiosity and sure enough, the ride op kindly obliged.
I know, it sounds like a total headf*ck, one that would probably make you vom, but weirdly... it kinda worked? It's very hard to explain, but the ride motion and forces still sort of matched the visuals. It did actually feel like I was riding Air in a feet-first position, but also, kinda upside down, but not? So instead of going UP the lifthill, headfirst, underneath the track, it looked and felt like I was travelling DOWN the lifthill, feet first, above the track. After the drop of course it all became a bit of a blur, and it was a few years ago now, but I distinctly remember it NOT being nauseous, which is the most surprising thing.
Like I said, it's hard to explain... but it was a fascinating, one-off experience that I'm really happy I got to try.

No, but I accidentally did the same thing on the mine train at Tibidabo. I can't say I enjoyed the experience, but then I was in the grips of a two-day hangover...

This topic is getting to be nearly as much of a headache as riding an SLC in reverse (or a GIB, god forbid...)

I don't mind a bit of backwards in its place, but I really dislike it when it's put on rides as a gimmick, particularly if the ride is already somewhat intense. I recently rode Walking Dead for the first time since it was XNWO, and realised it's actually alright forwards - I'd go as far as to say I'd enjoy it if it didn't have a million and one brake-runs!
