What music would you have played at your funeral?

I'd have....

But most others would preffer a serious song, an upsetting song.

So i was jsut wondering what different songs you guys would have played as you're being whisked away in a coffin?

Or Always Look At The Bright Side Of Life. Either of those.

^^ I saw that joke on a programme the other day, AJ ;)

Hmm, I'd probably have John Lennon - Imagine. One of my fav songs of all time.

But maybe I'd pick something funny to go out with a bang...

^ Considering i genuinely don't watch TV, that comment is VOID.
:p

Another would be....

That last one was legend, and id either have "Another One Bites the Dust" (Queen are good at this)

or

I'm not sure, something fun. Python's 'Look on the bright side of life' is a good one.

I would not want something boring and sad played, urgh, that would totally be the opposite of me. Everyone should have to go to my funeral in fancy dress or something to make it less depressing.

Id love to have cadence of her last breath - nightwish played at mine. Or maybe meadows of heaven - nightwish

Not the music from Animal Hospital then?

Umm I dunno, probably Ordinary World by Duran Duran as it's one of my faveourite songs. Either that or something stupid like the pizza hut song....

How morbid :p .

And I shall not be getting whisked away in a casket because I'm not being buried, but for my memorial service I guess I want a serious song and a not-so-serious song. You are Not Alone by Michael Jackson is a beautiful song, but then again it was played at my Uncle's memorial so I have to be more original. Hoping I have lots of time to think about it :p .

Either way, I don't want to play a lot of sad songs at my memorial because when I hear sad songs that I heard at funerals or memorial services, they tend to make me want to cry. I want songs where people will hear them and laugh because I played it at my service :p .

During my uncle's cremation service, I'm Too Sexy played as the final curtain was going around the coffin. That was a VERY apt song to remember his life, and brought some light to an otherwise very sad time.

I've got no idea what I would want played during my funeral. It's not a topic I particularly like to think about either, as I am of the emotional sort with things like that...

They played I'm Too Sexy as the curtains closed.

I don't mean to be rude and your uncle may have been a great person but that's fudging brilliant!!!

EDIT: Just thought of the song I'm gonna have and its definitely gonna be in my funeral.

Just as the curtains start to close.

FINAL COUNTDOWN!

"Wish you were here" - Pink Floyd has always been a subtle favourite of mine.

DJ Encore cool) . I would mind having something like that played too, anything uptempo and nothing too slow.

Does anyone actually have music played at a funeral? All the ones I've been too are usually some obsure piano music. If some wacky song ended up coming on I would probably end up laughing.

LOL! Your Uncle sounds like a funny guy. I'm actually surprised my Uncle didn't do something like that but I'm pretty sure he didn't plan for his service at 29. Just wondering though, is a "cremation service" where you actually watch a body be cremated? Or is that like, the UK version of a memorial service where they're already cremated and you just have a thing of ashes up at the front of the church or funeral home?

Yah they do.. Viewings and stuff mostly just have random soft sad music playing, but out of the two things I have been to (a funeral and a memorial service), they played quite a few songs at the memorial but I don't remember them playing any at the funeral except for maybe bagpipes, which get me EVERY time. They're such a pretty sounding instrument.

Verdi's Requiem. The whole thing. With full live orchestra and choir. In Westminster Abbey. Thanks.

this song, you have to wait abuot ten seconds, but just for hilarity purposes...

Strauss - Sprach Zarathrusta to begin with. Coffin being lowered from above infront of a giant black monolith...

And then Gregorio Allegri - Miserere. 12 Minutes of choral singing <3

Probably Signs by Bloc Party.

It's just so damn beatiful.
Bear in mind that this is a live video, and is played slightly differently.
If you don't have it, search for the original studio version recorded for Intimacy.

Honourable mentions would go to:
Lucky - Radiohead
Someone Great - LCD Soundsystem
Tulips - Bloc Party
All I Need - Radiohead

I can't really choose whether I'd want a sad song or a more upbeat one.
Might try and pull a Jim Henson-style funeral!
