I'd like to see another X-Car coaster in this country, but also a whole new ride system. The restraint design needs to be taken back to the drawing board, and the track layout needs to be improved. The whole concept hasn't been developed enough.

You are aware that G-Force isn't the only X-Car out there, right? It's not just you, but a lot of people jump on the "X-Cars are horrible!!!" bandwagon with no experience of them. It's unfair and inaccurate to judge an entire ride type based on one **** example.

I stand corrected about the other examples. G-Force is the only X-Car coaster in this country though, isn't it?

As Author of the topic I thought I might have my say and explain a bit further after watching the topic build a bit. All of the above examples of rides are types which can only be found at 1 park in the UK and even Europe. As Furie has mentioned before we lack rides over 30 seconds and we also seem to have a trend of getting only World, European or UK firsts. So why not expand on some of the rides that we only have 1 of in the UK but with a better, longer layout and theme ideas. This is not about what coaster the UK should get next or what we want next. Instead its about improving on some concepts that we already have an example of but I felt we could do more with. I love all 5 ride types but feel there is just so much more to be had out of them.

Suspended Coaster : Sure its old and somewhat redundant but surely with modern technology we could see one built as it was meant to be with hard flicking turns like The Bat (Kings Island) and maybe add inversions like the original prototype. I love the Vampire but it just always leaves me wanting just a bit more.

X-Car : I think G-force and the restraints get way too much criticism from people being picky with it just because it is not a B&M or Intamin and is very short. I have always found the seats very comfortable weather I have been 11st or 16st and I love the freedom they give you. They had plans to add spinning and "drift" versions of the cars to the concept but we have not seen them yet. I have ridden a few of the european X-cars (Formule X , Abismo) and think the X-car could make a great "Blitz" type coaster with both the launch and lift/loop. So much more to be had out of this great ride.

I voted for the Flying coaster just because I think it is the most likely and also the one with the most potential for improvement. I do like Air and it does what it was designed to do but again it is too short and could be further enhanced. I would love to see a park build a long terrain following version with plenty of caves, tunnels, trees and water to interact with flicking around and rolling a few times keeping it low and swooping much like a bat would do. Suprise us with a powerful inversion towards the end of the ride just give us something of substance.

Its really nice to see all the various opinions out there and that a few people at least have some love for the X-car. I agree the Dive Machine is the least likely along with Suspended. But the other 3 could be oh so much better.

Keep voting dudes

Maybe this is where I go wrong. I'm 8 and a half stone, but find the restraints extremely uncomfortable.

I would love to see a really good Suspended Swinging, but I would also love to see a HUGE dive machine or flying coaster...

I would prefer the Dive machine or Flyer, Stand only if it a B&M.

I would rather see a new Woodie over anything else though.

It is, yeah. And I agree with you that it's **** ing terrible.

To actually answer the topic though, I think another X Car is probably the most likely candidate as far as getting another one for the UK.

The concept has been developed a lot since G Force. We could get an excellent, launched, compact coaster. I don't know how much they cost, but I'm very confident in saying that they're a lot less than a B&M flyer or Stand Up. They're perfect for a smaller park without a "Merlin" budget.

We're never going to see another Dive Machine. Same goes for the suspended coaster. Yes, technology has moved on, but that doesn't mean a dead concept is likely to get revived; they were never that popular in the first place.

I don't know why people are talking about stand-ups at all. Honestly, when was the last one made? The 90s. It's as dead as the suspended coaster and of the models I've ridden the only tolerable one was Riddler's Revenge (which was actually a great ride) so I'm not even sure why people would want one; they are not that great and often painful.

As for suspended, I love them but they are very unlikely right now. Would love to see a good new one though.

Don't have much to say about X-car, never ridden one but some of the new ones look great.

I think a dive machine would be a nice add to any UK park as long as it is much different from Oblivion (which no doubt it would be). If only there was more variation in elements for them though.

My vote goes to the flying coaster. Of the two I have ridden, Tatsu was by far the best. I think they have far more potential that has yet to be tapped.

Anyone think we will ever see a launched flying coaster? Would have so much potential and is ideal for a low terrain following UK version.

^ This. Would be intresting, but unless it used B&M Flyer seats, it would be a ball crusher. The GP probably wouldn't think it was anything special though.

^That would just be a matter of marketing. I mean, they managed to establish a glorified mine train as the most traumatizing ride in the UK, and adding some film props made an overgrown Eurofighter a thundering success.

I never thought I was going to say this, but with a superhero theme, a launched flyer would work pretty well, at least stateside. So far, the flyers have been mostly about graceful flights high up in the air, with the occassional dive down to the ground. I think a more terrain-focused flyer would work equally well. Wouldn't have to launch fast either, 60 km/h would do the job.

My money's on Vekoma building this. I think it's just a matter of time before we see a launched flyer, but it won't be by B&M.

Only thing about Vekoma making a launched flyer is that they would have to come up with a new loading system since right now they load lying down and then flip you over at the top of the lift hill. Not sure how that would work with their existing flying dutchman model.

^Jojo roll?

Come to think of it, it's quite likely that B&M have patented the "flying start" position, meaning that Vekoma can't even make something similiar.

Now well. We'll see in the future and all that...

Yes, but my bets would be more that if this were to happen it would be by B&M although I still see it as being a bit of a stretch.

I think the UK needs another B&M flyer, as much as Air is a fantastic unique ride I feel Thorpe could do with a flyer similar to Tatsu or Manta or even better Starry Sky Scrapper! I think theres so much that you can do with a flyer and at the moment we are missing out! Also a standup would be good as I am yet to ride one, again Thorpe could probably do with one as I doubt many people who go there would have been to Drayton to ride Shockwave. But one of those I really don't want to see more of is the Dive Machine. I really don't see the need, we have Oblivion, and as much as the floorless extended models look amazing, Oblivion just has the magic of dropping into the hole that can't be beat in my opinion.

A good B&M Flyer. Manta, Tatsu, SkyScraper.....they all speak for themselves. Air really can't compete.
