I left Tokyo Disney disappointed, especially DisneySea

Gorgeous park, but it suffers from the same fatal flaw that plagues most of the Disney parks built in that era. There aren't a lot of non E ticket attractions in the park to absorb the heavy crowds the park pulls so everyone and their grandmother is stuck waiting 200 mins for any of the major rides

The ride selection isn't that impressive either. I like Test Track and Radiator Springs more than Journey. DisneySea has the worst Tower of Terror (great theme though). My favorite rides in the park were the Peter Pan dark ride and the Venetian gondola ride at the entrance.

I had a better time at TDL.

TDL is decent for a castle park. Disneyland is still my favorite. I'd put Tokyo ahead of MK simply because it has more rides and most of the animatronics are in way better shape than they are in the US.

As a rule, I dislike 'influencers', but people who make theme park videos are generally fine (so long as we're looking at the actual park, not their faces)

I'll use the videos if I'm planning a trip to somewhere I've not been before (often quite useful) and I'll watch ranking videos (to shout at them) as well as enjoying 'my least favourite coasters' type silliness.

But is there too much? Also probably yes.

I really like DisneySea, but I do agree with some of what you've said - and really, it's one of those parks that just has this insane reputation that they struggle to live up to in reality. Some enthusiasts really do a disservice to these parks the way they talk about them. Efteling and Phantasialand are similar, and honestly, the way people talk about Paulton's Park is kind of crazy to me. All of these are good, even great, parks - but the crushing weight of expectation is a lot.

I also think a lot of DisneySea's E-tickets suffer a bit by being variants of ride systems used in other Disney parks; they're often similar (Journey...) or moderately plussed up clones (Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones...), which doesn't help. Of course, the theming is beautiful - but sometimes to no real consequence. Is it amazing they have a huge steamship there? Yes - but what does it do? Nothing other than house a restaurant/bar...

What I would say about DisneySea is that single rider lines work out great. I haven't been in a few years, but the old FastPass system used to work great too, if you were willing to rack up the miles and criss-cross the park a lot. I've never had an issue getting on everything, even on pretty busy public holidays - but I gather it's got worse recently, particularly with Fantasy Springs.

Single rider lines definitely saved the day when I was there, but only Raging Spirits and the Fantasy Springs rides had it.

Same with their FP, but you have to get there early.

I lucked out and got the rides I wanted to the first day I was there. I camped out an hour before the park opened and got lucky. My luck wasn't the same day 2. I was told the security lines would move fast, but I ended up getting stuck in line for 2 hours after the park opened in the rain. Security lines definitely weren't efficient.

The park was pulling 200+ min waits for all the majors. Journey and Tower were both approaching 4 hours.

I'm kinda glad the other E tickets were copies of other rides at other Disney parks. It saved me so much time skipping the 3 hour waits for Midway and Soarin'. I think Disney really should've invested in a second track for Midway and a third theater for Soarin'. It really helps with capacity out here.

In contrast, I loved Europa. Wait times were 30 mins or less for all the majors. I did 4 days there and could've done more if I really wanted.

Really excited for Efteling and Phantasialand as well. I'm a total sucker for high quality theme parks
