Almost my entire top 10 comes from the previous 2 years, with Goliath WH being the odd exception. I really started to purposely travel around for creds in 2015 so that explains why. Before that I was more of a 'Youtube enthusiast' and RCT3 gamer then :)

Out of all those lists, only seven instances of a favorite coaster being first ridden in the 1900s. Does that mean this a relatively young crowd, or does that mean that almost all the best coasters in the world are built recently? And if you think it's got to be the latter, does that not say we are truly living in a golden age of coasters?

To this point - Mine all have dates from 2013 onwards, but some of these are well over 15 years old, especially the ones at the back end. While i'm not young by any stretch, I just got into the great game a few years back. Yes, my top 5 is made up of coasters built in the last 5 years, because of the technology and boundary pushing that the companies are being tasked with, so it's a mix of both youthfulness and a better recent product.

Hmmmmm, that's tough especially since I'm only 28 and started riding coasters in 98/99 to begin with. However, I do think it's the latter. Because on this forum as well as TPR there are plenty of people in their 40s and 50s whose top lists tend to have lots of post 90s rides. I mean my parents would marvel at how the best they had was "Wow that has some loops", runaway mine trains, classic woodies when they were kids...then saw MForce, Storm Runner, TTD, even newer smoother more intense woodies. And I think just looking at coasters lots of innovations didn't seem to occur until the 90s, and it was post 2000 that things really took off. Look at older rides, they're fun, some are classics but I think it's clear they just dont really compare. Technology improves always with time, cars, appliances...coasters are the same

Yeah, I think it is remarkable how much coasters built in the last 17 years dominate everyone's top lists. We are living in an amazing time for coasters -- it's more than technological evolution; it's an explosion, a renaissance-style flowering.
