Could something new take its place? Yes, and eventually something will. But I don't think that's why the ride is leaving. Knotts got a lot of bad press because of this ride, even the national media got a hold of the story. I think this move is more of a result of the fallout from all that.

Yeah some spots I just had no freakin idea how it would be realistically supported with what I had to work with. Did the best I could come up with.

I think it's more of the fact that GoPro is extremely versatile, and that you can easily mount it on almost anything. Plus it's extremely durable.

If your dad doesn't ride woodies I would just wait. The park is most certainly worth it though (to us enthusiasts though, there's little that isn't worth it). You can definitely use up a whole day here, I know I have, and we didn't even explore the whole park.

You don't, and I don't suggest it. Most people are either sneaky or have prior permission from the park. I've been on more rides e-stopped for a camera phone out than I care to admit.

Man idk. This is tough. I know I rode Demon Drop on its last day of operation at the Point. I didn't ride Wildcat or DT in their last years though. After long deliberation with my memory, I don't think I've ever been on a roller coaster in its very last year.

Like most things in the industry, it depends. Everything is case by case. Every ride made will be analyzed for cost effectiveness and there will be a sort of battle during design to find the perfect balance of supports and track strength. There is DEFINITELY no straight "which is cheaper"...
