Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

You should'nt get your hopes up at a Woodie.

And a Eurofighter is an ADDITION to the park, they could of left corky for an extra few seasons, people should be happy that they add a coaster at this rate, it's an extra attraction after all.

Towers Times article wrote:- Another rumour is that it will be an Intamin Wing Rider coaster, such as Furius Baco at PortAventura in Spain.

Now that is something I would love to see, and would work well with the heights limits. But could you see Alton having 2 Intamin Launchers side by side. I guess they would want something completely different. I just hope its not a Eurofighter as there will already be enough of them in the UK by that time and they aren't anything special.

I think if they do go for a woodie, they should go all out for the best and install something special rather than just an average woodie which would end up just another coaster in the park and nothing special.

SW6 according to Towers Times... Anyone got shivers?

Sealife also confirmed for next year (in 3D cinema tent), and Ug Swinger will replace Bouncing Bugs in the rethemed Cred street.

Edit - Sorry, Towers Times got it from ATA - let's try and credit the right people :)

Hah! told people bout the Sealife thing and they didn't believe me, sorry if that sounds big headed but hey, I'm never right

Alton towers wouldn't stupidly invest into another Intamin launched.

It's a SERIOUS waste of a budget, and as much as I love the thought of one, when I think that Alton already have RITA the excitement bubbles away.

Now if they were to get rid of Rita for it I would agree, I have not been on Baco though yet but people dont even rate that high.

tbh I think it will be the new coaster by B&M, I think a Euro Fighter will go in the park, but into the Black Hole tent as planned the other year. Thats some way off though.

The problem with Alton is they have most coasters types that are out there. There are some Alton will never be able to get though which is a shame.

Tbh Ritas cattlepen takes up stupid amount of space, and if another awesome coaster goes beside it will they need it all... I'm sure they could clear some way for a new cattlepen for the new ride? also if the new ride is an intamin accelerator it would look awesome ducking under and over Ritas banked turns!

Its not going to be an accelerator that would be silly.

If the project is officially named SW6 then it is the woodie as that was the codename for that project, if it wasn't the woodie it would be SW7

I think it could, everyones said Rita has never fit into Ug Land's theme so two accelerators, fast racy coasters, with a complete race re-theme, and I don't just mean a few chequered flags and grandstands.
Also if its rumoured to be a wing-walker although essentially it is the same thing (launched) it can offer a different experience.
Put it this way, they need something big, from a non-enthusiast POV, I reckon they will see their additions since Rita being a bit "meh".

I'd love it, either launching near enough side by side (has this been done before?) or launching at the same time, but designed so they each have close encounters, although to do that the new coaster would have to have a pretty short cycle which would be a shame... god I've never got into nerdy speculation for years I love it 8)

It has been done before = Batman and Robin: The Chiller

I highly doubt it will be a coaster with a launch though so don't worry :)

Actually thinking on what I'd said... that people will probably think the recent additions since Rita have been a bit meh... I doubt a launch coaster 5 years later will WOW people. Racing or not.
Then again, I can only see enthusiasts getting woodies about woodies....

I'd love to believe that the woodie is coming and it certainly does look promising with JW's involvment and the announcement that Alton made through the RCCGB, but I can't help but think it just won't happen. A Eurofighter is very believable with JW already working on Thorpe's so they could've done a two ride deal as they did with Maurer Sohne. The Wing Walker has come from left field a bit, but the reactions that it would never happen because Alton already have an Intamin rocket coaster could be wrong as what's stopping them using the wing walker trains on a multi-looper style coaster. Obviously the size of the trains would be an issue when creating the inversions, but I think it would be do-able and could be quite a unique addition.

If it's a ****ing Eurofighter, I'm giving up being an enthusiast for good. Alton are WAY too good for a coaster as average as that. There are too many Eurofighter's in Britain and I'm sick of hearing that every new coaster each year is going to be a Eurofighter. Alton really need another World Class coaster, And a eurofighter isn't one tbh.

But you would have 2 coasters that do the same thing in the same area, that would not work.

But a Eurofighter right next to Oblivion would be a good idea?

And as for a Baco? I'm sorry, but don't be so ****ing stupid.

If that's the attitude you have, I think you should just stop being an enthusiast now. Parks will always install the smart option instead of the option that we want. We are a tiny proportion of their gate figures, so they won't really listen to us and install a £10million when a £5million would do the same job in the eyes of the GP.

the announcement that Alton made through the RCCGB

That happened BEFORE Merlin took over...

Not to say the original SW6 could still see light of day, but I doubt it much...

No to a Baco, what Ben said I fully agree...

UC is also right in that people rarely seem to think logically when rumours about new coasters come about, or indeed with ANY new rides...
I look at the Chessie advice topic and shake my head sometimes at the silliness of some of the ideas I see as they wouldn't suit the park...
Different ride types which are essentially the same WOULDN'T WORK!!!

I'd love a wooden coaster yes, but if it's not cost-effective for the park and alternatives are looked at and chosen above it, then so be it...
I'd rather see Alton stay open than fritter money away and die...
