Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Possible, but unlikely.

Really unlikely to know until we get a picture of a postage sticker on a wooden crate outside a factory as seems to be customary.

^Yes. I have a thought...

Oh god please don't dig up the whole manufacturer argument again.

Leave it dead and buried until the track arrives or the announcement is made.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Agreed. Speculating can be fun but this has gotten a bit..boring.

Anyway where does Alton usually place the track when it has arrived? And how long is it on site till they put it up?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

If I am correct, they put it in the car park area around where air is. And how long it is on site question, well it depends on many things. But I would say to give it maybe 2 weeks to 3 weeks until it goes up.

Seems quick but im sure footers haven't been placed yet.

Well I meant 2 to 3 weeks when the track arrives, until they begin putting it up. But for when the track arrives, I do not know.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

I read somewhere that track would start to arrive in September some time?. But if footers aren't even in yet we may be waiting a while until vertical.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

One thing I have been wondering is why they couldn't use pillar drills to make the foundations instead of making a huge hole. But I pressume it has to do with the type of earth, or maybe the oblivion tunnel. Or maybe, Merlin told them to do it to get us enthusiasts excited about the project!

Reminds me of...

... and being drowned in it by Ian Huntley would probably still be better than the other Charlie themed ride on offer at Alton.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

It was the bank holiday weekend. I assume the workers will have had time off.

My memory does me no good. :fp2:

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

I'd imagine the footers don't come pre-constructed and are actually just poured on site.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Well the swarms footers came with casts and they were filled in to form a footer.
Drilling was done around the end of july, meaning sw7 may be a tad behind.

I don't really say these things on the forum. But I am concerned as to how things are going on the SW7 site. Things haven't moved at all for 3 days.
This is a joke, right?
