Bad Experiences with Other Enthusiasts

It put me off enthusiast groups for a while, I was making so much effort that day and not really getting anything back. But in hinesight, the RCCGB group was huge that day, I bet there were nice people in it but I just didn't get the chance to meet them.

Yeah, there are some nice chatty people in that group, but since they usually go off around in small groups of friends until the entire group do sommat together, it's a difficult one to really meet people...

Also, it's a much older group, so pink hair was probably too much for some of them :p

At the event, I asked Ian/Phil who the ponce in a jacket standing on the brick wall telling us Saw was broken was. Obviously loudly enough for him to hear, because, well, it's me.

For him to still be affected by it has brightened up my day. <3

I really should stay away from specialised forums, far easier to get sensible discussions on here.

I've had bad/awkward experiences...

*Being asked by a member of another forum group if I would like a picture with them as their greeting. No hello or anything, just the egotistical assumption that I wanted a picture...
*Spending the day with fellow "enthusiasts" that actually seemed more interested in discussing where we were going to eat for what felt like 3 hours. - Im not saying that we have to discuss coasters but I dont want to talk about lunch when its only 9.30 either!

They've permanently banned me because I written something like: "you're all like sheeps and treat Robb like somekind of a god and you take each and every word he says as sacred."
That was put in a thread in which someone said that people get annoyed while watching youtube POVs with his (retarded) comments. Robb called him stupid (or an idiot, or something) and then everybody treat the user like a retard...

Which the goons do. I'm glad I'm not the only one who openly hates his commentary in all of his PoVs he filmed himself (everything else is either filmed by a goon or stolen from other users). I remember when he released the Cheetah Hunt PoV and uploaded a second one without the commentary cause everyone was bitching about him, and he put up a huge stink about the whole thing, too. That has since been removed though since every other site has a PoV of the thing.

I've seen this happen to quite a few people on those forums. One of the fondest threads I remember was a photographer posting about his trip to Orlando, and he got harsh criticism for his watermarking (it was only size 10 font in the bottom right corner). Alvey and a "professional photographer" proceeded to bash him for a good two pages and then banned him, deleted all the photos, and edited in the users first post stating that "you can see why this guy got all butt hurt and removed his photos. To add to what Joey says:

Each site has their own rules, their own way of doing things and their own "personality". We only see one side of the story from the aggrieved party so you can't take it as the absolute truth. TilySlo for instance, you obviously over stepped a mark within the site. Whether you agree with the ruling or not, I read that and - while on CF it would end up a bit of a bitchfest and stuff but would pass - can understand why a "tight knit site" may not want you there.

Read different sites and find out if the crowd there match you or not. If you read stuff and it makes you angry or bewildered by the way they act to each other, then it simply isn't for you - move on and let them do what they want.

There are plenty of people who dislike CF because they don't like the attitudes here. It really is horses for courses so please keep that in mind?

I've not meant anything bad with my post. I've just found it amusing how quickly offended some people are. I didn't want to start a conversation in which people would talk **** about other coaster sites/forums. My apologies...

PS: Why is making fun of overweight ACErs accepted and this isn't?

That and lets face it....ACE is full of fluffy folk...

The worst it came to with me and another site would be again, TPR, but some dude at Holiwood Nights last year took a picture of my friend and I and made fun of our tripod.

They took another pic of us later, to again make fun of our cameras tripod.

Beyond that, nothing really.

There's only one group I know of that really makes fun of ACE members, and I think we all know who they are!
