Best back-seat ride?

What is your favourite rollercoaster riding in the back-seat? My favourite will be El Diablo; although the entire ride is pretty poor, being at the back gives it a massive kick, and throws you out of your seat quite often. :p

What is yours?

Out of a coastercount of 11, of which four are "proper" coasters:
- SpeedMonster: Very short trains, no obvious force difference.
- Piraten: See SpeedMonster
- Loopen: Rough as a rockslide everywhere but the middle
- ThunderCoaster: Back seats are the only ones reminiscent of the ride's former glory. And the closer to the front you get, the rougher the ride. Back in '06, however, the backseats were doing their best to press you through the restraints, and you were more airborne than sitting. That was true coaster glory.

Has to be ThunderCoaster.

Any big airtime machines are awesome in the back, also I found that back seats on Twist'N'Shout gives a great feeling acceleration through the loop.

Back seats on a Zierer Tivoli Medium or other kiddy coaster with long trains. You get a nice pop of air over the crest of the lift.

Yeah, I enjoyed El Diablo in the back seats.

Other rides I enjoyed there include Big Dipper, Nemesis and Vampire

Boulder Dash.

Though it's the best ride in any seat so that's probably cheating...

The biggest difference is on Big Dipper. A ride that SUCKS anyway else that is just absolutely awesome in the back.

EGF back row is just something else, you go over the drop so fast.

Also that coaster of death at M&D in Scotland, back row on that just whipped you over the top so fast it was a tad scary.

I also Stealth back row on the way down, love it :)

Also I found out on Sunday that the back row on Rita give a load of airtime :) its now gone up in my rating.

Air.

Yes there is a lot to be said about increased airtime and all that but what strikes me about Air in the back row is the comparison to other rows.

The other rows are pretty meh, but that drag I experience in the back row and constant pull on my body makes back row Air worthwhile.

Yeah I agree, Air is much better in the back row.

I have tbh I think most coasters are better in the back, you get more speed and more force and more airtime. Someone is probably going to prove me wrong but when you look at it make sense.

The front ia slow as its already down the drop before the back gets over it, so it pulls the back over so the back is faster.

God knows if that makes sense lol.

I thought the front was better, actually. I rode the back and the front just had better sustained airtime.

Of course, you are a twig, the lapbar probably didn't even touch your legs. :)

El Toro clearly wins for me. I LOVE the ejector/pull ejector I get on that ride. Fantabulous.

Hehe, no way, I mean, the front was good, but the speed and some of those hills at the back were just stupidly good.

And yes, the lapbar did touch my legs :p. 99% of the time actually, cause that's how much of that coaster you're out of your seat and smashed into it for :p.

I agree on Air, btw. It goes from God-awful, shockingly, funnily bad to just plain bad at the back. Apollo's Chariot is another that was a LOT better at the back. Oh, and PMBO should only ever be ridden at the back so the only good part of it is actually good.

However, on hypers, the front is thrown into the top of the hill, causing extreme airtime :p. On loopers it's then thrown into the start of the loop.

So, it depends, do you like it to be forceful at the start, or would you rather it was forceful in the end?

... I'm also disappointed this topic hasn't generated any "I always prefer it in the back" posts. You people disappoint.

When I first read the topic I was going to say Mary-Anne in the back seat of her dad's '79 Cadillac, but since we're talking coasters here...
There's no doubt about this one:

And snoo is also right about Boulder Dash - the back is great, but the front is better!
And I've ridden it more times in one day than you will in your lifetime Ben.

Actual Airtime: Ravine Flyer 2

Every hill had a HUGE pop of air in the back. I haven't riden Toro yet, but I freaking want to!

Strangely airtime: Superman: Ultimate Flight

I had a very bulky camera in my already tight short, so I was about 2 clicks higher then a one click. Then I hit the pretzel loop and about flew out of my seat, before being pushed back against the seat again.

Awesome.

Dragon Khan.

I've not done many rides that were noticeably better in the back, but Dragon Khan really kicks your ass hard in the back row.

It's intense.

Nemesis back row far left.

Zero-g roll.

Oooooooooh.

I need to try that.

Here's a pointless post as its gone but the corkscrew was WAY better at the back and it's the only coaster I havent queued for the front row everytime. I really gotta try the back on some coasters as I always like the views.

Colossus. I swear the seats are raised a bit at the back.

It was awesome. :D

Sorry but I really have to disagree. It's among the top worst rides to back-seat in my list. Furius Baco was probably a tad worse; when I rode that in the back I thought I was riding Stampida at 84 mph. Not good

Anything that resorts a ride to being rough kills it; and Colossus does that effectively :p

I do prefer Khan at the front in most circumstances, but the back is still exhilirating! I feel the zero-G more on the front than the back; and I love that gradual acceleration down the 160' drop :--D I think being at the back produces drag and makes the ride feel a lot more forceful on the vertical inverting segments. Lush :p
