Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coaster

Re: Mack spinning coaster for BGT 2016

Looks like it has an elevator lift with two spinning square cars, possibly starting out back to back.

The capacity on this thing is going to be a nightmare in my opinion. Operations at BGT weren't the greatest when I went (though I feel like I caught it on a bad day) and having only 8 people per train on anything could equal nasty, nasty lines if it's crowded.

Like how the layout and theming look from the picture, though. I spy an overbank (look just below the bottom of the snake statue) and a zero-g transition over the final brakes on the far left side of the image.

And does anybody know where this is going exactly? I see nowhere they could have room in Egypt for it.

Like the looks of it overall, though! Between this and Mako, I think Orlando might be in the works for a senior trip a few years down the road when I graduate!

^ There are square footers poured to the right of the Giraffe exhibit, on both sides of the train tracks, next to Montu. In The Loop has a video on it:

Re: Mack spinning coaster for BGT 2016

Apparently it starts with both cars facing forward for the first part, then the cars are spun by motor 180° for the second section, and then the spinning is unlocked for the final part after a second lift hill!

:)

Re: Mack spinning coaster for BGT 2016

It looks like a really interesting concept! I can't wait for the construction to properly start!

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

Over 3 minutes seems a long ride time, could that include some kind of inside section before the lift, I wonder?

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

^Usually when ride times are announced, the park means dispatch up until return to station. For example, the announcement video for Fury 325 said it was 3 minutes and 25 seconds long, but it's really more like 1 minute 50 sec(Dispatch to brake run). And excluding the lift, Fury is only 1 minute long. So I'd assume that Cobra's Curse will be around a minute and a half of actual "coasting" time.

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

I was at the Busch today.... Going by the last update, there doesn't appear to have been much visual progress in the last 3 months...

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

Oh right, this is still a thing. Woo... Easy credit.

In a nutshell, track and supports are on site, and a bit more work on the lift and station is underway.

So it's not dead. Yay!

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

Yeah I should have said, the site wasn't dead, there were quite a few people doing stuff, plus machinery making noise etc. It just didn't look like much progress had been made.

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

Cool concept, great theming, love the layout interacting with the pathways and train...

... But did it have to be a spinner?

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

Looks fairly short too, considering it has two lifts.

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

I like the S&S El Loco inspired turn out of the vertical lift and the right hand side looks pretty well landscaped.

Cannot agree more - I think a decent 'family' coaster with traditional cars would have absolutely sufficed for this.

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa | Cobra’s Curse | Mack spinning coas

I feel like I am alone here in liking the spinning concept? Dare I say it but, I like the Maurer spinners (dragons fury et al) so hoping this is going to be a hyped up, faster and better themed version of one of those. #controversialopinion
