Re: Carowinds | Unknown 2015
Here is an interesting theory I just saw:
What if Cedar Fair is doing what they did with both Intimidators? Supposedly there are footers being constructed upon at Californias Great America, with picture proof supposedly (talked about, not shown). Comparing the logo designs, there arw similarities as well between I305 and Fury 325. The numbers dont seem as part of the actual logo, and are just tacked on (as the 305 was done for KD).
Interesting theory to say the least.
Edit: The FULL theorists theory has been refound!

I have a few theories here, and I haven't decided which one I like more yet:
1. Here was a theory that Mike and EB from Coaster Radio had come up with:
What if it was to be called Centurion from the get go? That would explain the completed logo that looks like it would be a typical Cedar Fair logo (symbol with word mark below it). Although it's tough to see on the trademark search website, many have said that the Centurion logo is suspended. If that is true, maybe they scratched the idea of using it and came up with a different name. This new name could be Fury 325 (or Swarm for that matter), and here is why. These are filing dates for the names in question.
Centurion: October 18, 2013
Fury: January 23, 2014
Fury 325: June 9, 2014
Swarm: Not currently filed for
To compare, Banshee was filed for in April 2013, four months or so before the announcement. This would support Fury 325, ESPECIALLY since it was filed so much later than Centurion. Perhaps Centurion was going to be the name, but a problem with the trademark (if it is indeed suspended), caused them to file for a new name. This is where the timing of the Fury marks come in. They must have decided to add the "325" later. When the trademark issue arose, they probably already had a logo created and decided to use it and related banners in the teaser campaign since they knew it wasn't going to be the name (just the The Bat during the KI campaign).
2. Gatekeeper was filed for in August 2012 on the EXACT day of the announcement. This would support Swarm as the name because it won't appear until after the announcement tomorrow. This is supported by the micro-site name in the site code.
3. Here's one more idea, what if there are two major coasters in store for the chain (I still haven't heard anything about those footers at California's Great America since I spotted them in June). What if they are re-doing what they did in 2010 with Intimidator and Intimidator 305. Cedar Fair is clearly all-in with CGA now, and with Gold Striker, they now need a big steelie there. What if B&M is doing two big rides for the chain, a giga (Fury 325) for Carowinds, and another unknown type (Fury) for CGA? They are much farther apart that Carowinds and KD, but Intimidator made sense due to the NASCAR influence in both areas. It's been done before. The other thing supporting this theory is in that very real looking Fury 325 logo, the "325" is small and just tacked on at the bottom. It is not a major part of the logo, just like the "305" is on I305.
Before anyone says "Cedar Fair never trademarked either Intimidator names," that is true because Cedar Fair researched who owned that trademark and saw it was owned by Dale Earnhardt Inc. That's when CF approached DEI and said they wanted to use the name and they went into negotiations so that CF could use the name for their two rides. They never needed to file because it was already protected.
Thoughts?
