What's new

COTALAND | Texas | Gerstlauer Infinity Shuttle (Palindrome) & Vekoma Tilt (Circuit Breaker) & Others

Another bump to this thread:
-Director of Theme Park Entertainment, Marketing and Communications Director, Buildings and Grounds (Irrigation Specialist), COTA Grounds Landscaper, and Manager of Theme Park Ride Maintenance jobs posted on Google.
-New control panel for their Chance Giant Wheel
-Possible Bertazzon Dodgem car
-New sign for the COTALAND logo
Seeing the job postings is a great sign that soon enough we will see some more movement on social media combined with entertainment being discussed as well! The sight of a grounds landscaper will greatly make the venue/park compete with other major tourist destinations in the area too! It is also very nice to see that the venue is looking to find a manager for ride maintenance for the maximum uptime possible with the goal of COTALAND being based on rides that are one of a kind/only one of its kind for the present and future!

COTALAND update courtesy of Thrillnerds:
The maintenance area is finished with the station area being the next phase of construction.
-Plenty of activity around Palindrome which means that testing should begin soon!
-More activity through the area between Palindrome and Circuit Breaker.
-Ground is being dug out for the Circuit Breaker tunnel area with footers being dug in as well.
-The tilt supports will also have a checkered flag design, something that was not on my bingo card!

Not a fan of the matched colors, and it'll probably have the normal Gerstlauer ride experience, but it's better than a cloned Eurofighter model and should be decently fun. So I must give it a nod for that. Interested to see if the whole train makes it over that bump on the spike.

Hold up, will this thing be running just one train with the building circled in yellow being the station? If so, then surely the throughput is going to be pretty awful?

Wouldn't it have made more sense (from a throughput point of view) to run 2 trains with the station and a holding block where the area circled in pink is?

Aside from that, it looks like a groovy little coaster and I hope we see similar variants pop up at other smaller/new parks.

This will be capable of running two trains. If you look closely, the turntable at the bottom of the first drop acts as an extra block, which is aligned with the main track portion during the cycle and then, once the previous train has come to a stop there, spins and feeds both the station or the maintenance bay.

I know my explanation might be a bit confusing but Mystic at Walibi Rhône-Alpes works exactly the same, as a Gerstlauer semi-shuttle coaster.

The yellow is the storage building, the station & brake run is the pink section. It goes up the lift, through the layout forwards to the spike, then does the backwards run; then eventually brakes and stops on the turntable which then feeds it back to the station.

Not trying to be a hater,,,but... this looks kinda terrible 👀
Try going to a seaworld park...you'd probably stroke out. And even worse, go to a six flags park. You would die the moment you were within a 5 mile radius if you think that looks bad. Actually though, the setting between the road and small lake actually looks halfway okay, and I like tye layout as long as it runs fast. I can't be the only one getting swsd vibes from this right?

Just listened to the Coaster 101 Podcast about ALL THINGS COTALAND!
-The park was originally going to be very small with 8-10 rides ie similar to the kiddie parks found across America.
-The board of COTA thought that they were limiting themselves from the massive audience around the San Antonio/Austin area.
-After this discussion, more consideration began with adding some more rides to the kiddie park with ones the entire family could ride.
-The Wacky Worm was one of the first steps from the park emerging from the kiddie era to becoming a full amusement park.
-This led to even more consideration of an amusement park and some rides that were there during that era in the grand plaza were either sold off or will be relocated to the park site.
-The park will be located at turns 19 and 20.
-Parking lot A will be replaced by the new park as well, this parking lot is right next to the COTA Karting attraction.
-The man-made lake right next to COTA Blvd will also be a part of the park as well.
-The land mentioned will be the start of the park's journey to fame and fortune with plenty of room for future development!
-Originally this land would have become a housing complex but the 2008 market crisis put an end to that idea which led to the creation of the race track.
-The very early version of the race track plans included an amusement park (2010).
-Having the amusement park would allow profit to come into the park during slow periods before big races ie Moto GP, NASCAR, and their pinnacle Formula 1 race.
-This park also might cause more race tracks in Europe to begin considering amusement parks which would be amazing!
-The Texas Wildcat's decision it be the only one left (45-meter variant) and the Positive reception of it led to certain creation of the park.
-One of the coasters that the CEO wanted for the full park had a requirement of going over the road which led to Palindrome.
-After Palindrome was discussed more and more continued to be considered for the park.
-The CEO is a huge fan of the classic log rides found in many parks across the globe and will feature a 5 story drop!
-This park will provide some classics of the industry along with cutting-edge attractions.
-The Circuit Breaker concept amazed the CEO so much that it was greenlit at once.
-The Telecombat ride will feature turning cars where you can shoot at other riders which will result in the shot car falling while the last car standing gets a victory program with it going higher than the other cars.
-Rapid construction has now been achieved and it will continue for the coming months.
-One of the main goals of Palindrome was to be re-rideable along with other attractions for the park being like this as well.
-Station and electrical are being done as of today with possible tests beginning around 7/29.
-Skyblazer is confirmed to be in the final park plans and will feature the same scenery as the concept with the man-made lake. It will also be the most thrilling ride in the lineup when the park opens.
-The goal of the park was to also have the whole family together with both gentle and thrilling attractions nearby.
-There is also work being done right next to the Karting track with a mini golf course expected to open possibly in September!
