Disneyland Paris Announce 3rd Park

There was always going to be a third park but the original agreement had a deadline of opening it by 2012. It looks like they've finally changed the agreement to give them more time which really needed to happen. The Nature Village has always been talked about too and it's great to hear that it's still going ahead, sounds like an interesting concept and I look forward to hearing more about it.

Yeah I remember reading about the 3rd park ages ago and wondered what was going on with it, at least now we know it is going to happen.

I really hope they include Fantasmic in the new park or something like World of Colour, I think either would bring in the crowds.

World of Colour would be nice. A lot of peeps seem to be hoping for an Animal Kingdom-type park but I think they must be smoking something because it just wouldn't work in Paris.

I was going say what I bet most people would say "why cant they contrate on rebuilding the Studio's etc". However, there was an article on this in the Telegraph, and once sentence caught my eye:

Mr Gas said there is a possibility that a decision to build a third park could come as late as 2020, although it may come earlier if planned work on the Disney Studios park is completed

FYI, that blog post has been updated with images.

See, now I don't like that idea, I'd rather we saw something fresh from Imagineers, not just rides themed around an already existing brand. I am a massive fan of the original concepts Disney used to use all the time in the past (Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc) and have always felt that when they install rides based on an already existing character, who already has their own backstory and 'world', it's a little bit of a cheap fix.

I'm sure most of you will agree that the best Disney rides we've seen are those where Imagineers have created an entirely new world for us to explore, with new characters and surroundings rather than just going, her have some Toy Story characters, you like those.

I truly hope this new park is something extraordinary and we see a bit more effort put into DLP than we've seen over the past decade.

That image Ploddish posted is nothing to do with the third park. Its some kind of Nature trail thing thats being built at the Va'l de Europe (sp?).

They should clone DisneySea, I doubt many people would complain!

Plus it would introduce one of the best parks in the world to Europe, and many people don't know about DisneySea. Also saving money on design costs etc.

Trouble is it's not going to happen, I just hope we don't get some half assed effort which takes years of extra additions to create a decent park.

Still it's a long way off yet.

I agree Nadroj... All of my favourite Disney attractions are those based around original ideas, of course, Its a Disney park, so your gonna get movie tie ins and such, but the best rides are those unique!

Leave all the other stereotypical ride names and ideas to Six Flags and the like!

I want more Jules Verne attractions!!!

In reply to Divvie Dave and NadroJ, i obviously agree, I'm sure a lot of people do, but if you pay attention, ever since Bob Iger took over quite alot has happened and been confirmed and ALL of it, with no exceptions, is very commercial. Start Tours 2, Cars Land, Toy Story Mania, Little Mermaid (although that has been planned for years), everything in the Fantasyland Expansion at WDW, Ratatouille Dark Ride at DLRP, Toy Story Playland, silly Symphony Swings, World of Colour.

Need I go on?

Yeah unfortunately the days of the attractions influencing the films rather than the films influencing the attractions are probably over. :(

When was the last time Disney created an attraction telling a story not influenced by a Disney film? Expedition Everest probably, and look what happened there, they created one of the finest themed coasters on the planet and they didn't have to try and tie-in The Jungle Book or whatever

Yes and they created a piece of machinery that is now inoperable and is looking unlikely to be fized either... (yeti) Tis a blooming shame though.

I know they have had upper level staff mentioning this new project but at the moment, I am hedging my bets on not holding my breath...

What happened to the yeti?

Simply... it broke. Unfortunately it is no longer an animatronic. Apparently, due to the way in which the ride and mountain are built as seperate structures around the yeti structure it would cause huge downtime to fix him. Its not a get inside and repair job I think, they need to actually bring him out. :( It has been broken for quite some time now.

You can find out all about it:

The commercialisation of Disney is spreading to the Hotels at DLP now, with the Hotel Sante Fe being covered in Cars....

^ Ha! That looks AWFUL! It doesn't even fit!

In relation to the topic, a Marvel Super Hero park would be terrible. Probably about as bad as that bilboard. The only thing that would impress me would be if it had mucho bigo ride-o. B&M coasters, blah blah. But then it would just be a Marvel Super Hero Island rip-off and it wouldn't be a Disney park. I guarantee a Marvel park would feel nothing like a Disney park, thus having no place on Disney property.

AMEN to that. I couldn't agree more.

If they want to go big with more thrilling rides I would rather see they tie into something they already have which are scarier and larger than life... VILLAINS!
