Europa Park |"Wodan"| GCI Wood

Re: GCI Wooden Coaster - Europa Park 2012

^Oh, well in that case, I hope more parks start taking their official pictures nicely like this. They look very good. :D

Re: GCI Wooden Coaster - Europa Park 2012

I think the reason why everybody has a hard on over this ride's drop is that it's easier to get nice looking pictures. Terminator's drop was mirrored and the majority of pictures were taken from the Sky Tower.

Re: GCI Wooden Coaster - Europa Park 2012

I don't know what everybody is talking about. I see very little resemblance to Termintator's drop. The only thing that I see is that it starts off level. There have already been 2 other coasters with a similar start to a drop to Terminator before this (Kentucky Rumbler and Ozark Wildcat). If you look it is a lot more similar to Kentucky Rumbler than anything else. Terminator will start to drop but it will turn before reaching the base of the lift supports. Kentucky Rumbler goes through the lift structure and out the other side in the same exact direction as the one at Europa park. The difference between KR and Wodan Timbur is that KR has a slightly steeper decline at the top giving it less airtime. Not to mention the height and steepness difference.

Re: Europa Park |"Mythos"| GCI Wood

You're right, Kentucky Rumbler does have the same sort of drop, I'll admit to not thinking about it cause I've not been on it.

But, Terminator's drop does go under the lift hill. If you actually look at that photo Hixee, you'll see the lift hill structure isn't ready, but where it stops you can see it leading up to going over the base of the first drop. It doesn't come out the other side, but, the banking at the bottom is under the lift hill.

It's quite hard to see in photos but, here - http://www.rcdb.com/4173.htm?p=23473 - you can just see it pulling out of that corner, or watch a POV, that's the easiest place to spot it.

But, thanks for pointing out the Rumbler, that just backs up my point! Ozark Wildcat isn't the same, so...

^Ah, didn't occur to me it was still being built. I see it now. :D

Yeah this seems like a glorified version of Kentucky Rumbler's drop. It's steeper taller and will provide a lot more airtime. Also if you look at the area they had to work with, there really wasn't that many other options. Yeah, it is disappointing that it's similar, but it is the best choice they could have made.

I meant that Ozark Wildcat is similar in that it starts out with a flat turn.

Re: Europa Park |"Mythos"| GCI Wood

Oh I don't mind the drop, Terminator's is awesome. People are just annoying me thinking it's so special.

Re: Europa Park |"Mythos"| GCI Wood

The drop is the only thing salvageable on Terminator. The rest is horrible.

Here's a height profile comparison of Wodan's(pink) to Terminator's(blue) drops.

Re: Europa Park |"Mythos"| GCI Wood

For those who weren't all that impressed with this, it may have just got a bit worse. Apparently its going to have quite a low capacity, and there will be tight restrictions with the lap bars. It wont have seat belts, so the lap bars are going to be pretty tight, apparently due to Geman laws or something. People with even a medium build will struggle to get on!

Oh, and rubber wheels, so no noise!

I gathered that info from TT;

Confirmed no seatbelts. Queue length when full queue will be 120. Theming will be brilliant. Capacity will be lower than the other major Europa coasters, restraints will lock low and be an issue for larger guests, this was brought in by German safety laws because they aren't having seat belts. Big boy seats will be developed but not ready for march. Queue and bag system like blue Fire. Rubber wheels confirmed for noise reasons, so it won't necessarily feel classic woodie but they had no choice.

And why is the topic title still Mythos, its Wodan?

We were pinned on Silver Star as well yet no one checked restraints on some other coasters.

This does not look to give much air so won't be a problem.

As for larger people not being able to ride we heard this before for raptor and no one had a problem.
